Digital Membership Cards?

Hi - old "grandfathered" owners back from a recent trip. Can report that most places took the screenshot of Temp Blue card, some even took the DVC ND on the MM app. We did receive some push back from a CM at the Contemporary Gift shop that made it seem like we were not allowed to get the discount and that she would do this 'favor' to us, this one time, but overall most CM gave us the discount with no issues.

After being back for a few weeks, i tried the 'fix' posted earlier in this thread again....and ours still say DVC ND. :-(
Did you happen to visit the member lounge in Epcot?

No sorry - it was very busy and I didn't want to possibly face the argument/discussion about getting in.
One would think because it’s the DVC lounge, they would be able to variety your eligibility by pulling the account up. I hope this issue is corrected in time for your next visit!

This was the case for my visit. Visited the lounge on Thursday, when I showed my card showing the "ND" I explained the situation and they let me in. They also filed a request to fix it with IT (I've done that process a few times and no luck so far). But apparently it's happening to quite a few of us.

Trying to set up DW. It wants an "Activation Code" that was "provided with your membership". We bought initially in 2007. I went through everything in the packet they gave us, but can't find an Activation code (though we must have one since I have had an online DVC access since then). My wife is getting on DCL today and they say her blue card "isn't good enough". I am trying to get her logged into the DVC site (she is listed on the contracts), but it keeps asking for that code. Do we just call member services for this? Also, if they give a new "Activation Code", will I need to change my account?

Just call MS. They can give you her activation code. Her activation will be different than yours, so no need to change your account.

When you call to get the one-time activation code, select the option for website support which IIRC is option SIX after selecting ONE for MS.

Thanks! I spent a good bit of this morning going through all of our purchase paperwork and I couldn't find it anywhere. The other issue I was having was that the "Club ID" is not our membership number...

And yep, MS was able to help!

We're grandfathered members and my MDE apple wallet card shows up DVC-ND too. I can pull up the blue digital card, which it sounds like I should bring if this issue is not resolved before our trip. My question is how do I get my husband's blue card? My card shows my name only. Does he have to set up his own account on the dvc member site? Both of our names are on the contract.

He needs his own DVC & MDE accounts in order to have access to the temporary card on the member website and to add it to the wallet app on his smart phone.

When I set mine up I had to fight with my wallet for a few days to get it to add. Not sure why but it did eventually get added.

I was just at Wdw for a week. I didn’t have many opportunities to shoot for a discount, and I didn’t go to parks, but I had a situation (described in a moment) that kept me from having the card on my phone, and every CM just gave me the discount.

The CMs I met were very aware of the issues and were kind. The old Dvc MB slider I had on my smart watch band might have helped lol.

(On day 3 my phone took a swim just as its waterproof case decided it didn’t want to be waterproof anymore. I had to get a new phone. I had just changed a bunch of passwords last month, but hadn’t backed up my old phone, so the new stuff didn’t port over. Some of those passwords were for my gmail and the new stuff in my wallet didn’t make the journey either. What a pain.)

Has a magic band ever connected to the blue card?

FWIW my bands have at the very least showed them the Dvc reservation and that was enough. More than one restaurant server in the past has said they saw the Dvc designation when they scanned the band and didn’t need the card.

Not saying it was supposed to happen or will in the present or future, but it did for me. But I do tend to get the exceptions, both good and bad lol.

Oh good grief!! Is this really what I am going to have to go through to get my husband set up. Can’t be that this is an expected normal procedure.

Dvc rrally does expect that all members and associates will create accounts. I (as an associate back then) made my own life harder by setting up my then-husband’s account using my email etc and never setting up my own. When he left and I got the Dvc it was a very weird process to get it all over into my name etc, since I was actually in HIS account.

Setting up those accounts years down the road isn’t what they expect, so it creates extra steps.

I wanted to do multiple quotes - still have not figured that out. I used to do it before they changed the format here - years ago  See how tech savvy I am......

These screenshots are from the app, but the basic process is the same on a computer.

At the bottom of each post you should see this:

Click on “+Quote” for the posts you want to quote.

If you don’t want the entire post you can edit it later. Or you can highlight what you want and then a little pop up will give you the option to quote just that part.

When you are finally ready to reply, at the bottom of the page you'll see:

Click “Insert Quotes”.

That will bring up something like this, showing the posts or post snippets you want to use:

Click “Quote messages” and it should plop it all into your message. Then go back up and add in your responses where you want them. Once done click “Post Reply.”

Hope that helps!

Just a few months ago there was a DVC promo for the 20% off (limited time),

Thank you so much!!!!! I don't remember it like that a few years ago :teeth: - Really appreciate it. I will have to practice so I don't forget it. Simple enough. I kept getting it wrong and replying to each message/post.

Much appreciated!!!!

I scrolled through this thread and see we’re all still having this issue. We bought our resale grandfathered contract in 2014 at SSR. Im the only one who’s had a DVC online account since I’m the one who does all the booking but now I’ll have to get my husband his own account. I added my DVC digital card to my apple wallet and it shows the dreaded ND. Would printing out a temp one avoid this issue? We head to DL next month and we would like to use our discount at the many places that offer it. But the ND on the digital card is a huge bummer.
I just got back from a 12 nite trip and i will say that no one checked the back of the card....it was never an issue....not at Topolino's,not Trattoria, not C.Palace, not Boma, not anywhere....go and enjoy.....no worries....

Thanks for the update. We shall see how it goes next week for me! I was asked to show things during both my January and February trips.

On my android phone, the process to add the Disney "card" worked flawlessly.

On my wife's android phone, which had a previous gpay wallet set up, it's failing, badly. I was wondering if anyone has an idea on how to correct this behavior?

Here is what is happening:
Click on MagicMobile, see the card. Click on "see passes in google pay". She gets sent to the browser with a gpay logo and a message that says "This item can only be accessed on Android mobile devices using Google Pay". On my own phone, it instead brings up the Google Pay app.

Deleting the gpay wallet entirely, deleting the MDE app, and reinstalling the MDE app doesn't work. Nor does setting up the gpay wallet, then trying to get to it from the MDE app. Nor does setting up the gpay wallet, reinstalling MDE, and trying from there. Adding in rebooting the phone, I must have installed MDE about 15 times so far in various orders, without success.

****** Update: Installed the newest version of Android (12) and the problem has corrected itself. I suspect it was a mime type issue. I'm leaving this up in case someone else has a similar problem. ******

Not giving Disney any slack over all of their screwups on this, but quite a few problems with the digital cards are the result of software issues in the phone OS's. On the IOS side of things, the whole "delete your phone number then add it back in" solution is actually a work around to force Apple Wallet to update the digital card to match the correct information in MDE.

There are a ton of digital cards in the Apple Wallet that have Automatic Updates selected but they never update. The Starbucks card is a real obvious one (and that's been out for years and in use by millions of people yet still doesn't work). The current balance shown in the Wallet never updates on many phones. The same goes with a number of hotel and airline cards that have to be removed and reloaded to get the points/miles to update, or the member tier status to reflect properly.
