Not much reason for me to go to Saskatoon anymore. Both Aunts and Uncles that lived there or near there have passed. I had 10 cousins near there, but all but one have moved to either other Provinces or other countries. Just one cousin left living there.

Interesting, I had no idea! Now I wonder which one I've had :)
Speaking of food, 1 thing I enjoy when I do visit the USA is biscuits and gravy. It's not a thing here in Canada
I've noticed that a lot of places I've been to have had that white gravy. I'm not so much a fan of that stuff, but I do love a good biscuit

Well, if we really want to stir things up, we could discuss which version of clam chowder is best (New England, obviously!), or barbecue (Memphis, Kansas City, Texas, North or South Carolina, etc.), or who makes the best pizza (New York, Detroit, Chicago).

That may be part of the citizenship test and perhaps even a requirement for a normal immigration application but many come as refugees or under family sponsorship programs, neither of which test language proficiency.

If they want to become a citizen they must prove their language skills.

Yes, I agreed with you about the citizenship test. It's not required simply to land as an immigrant or to enter as a refugee though. And once here, there is no requirement to take citizenship. Some never do, just like some never learn English or French.
 
Another food that is great in the U.S. is grits, but not a thing in Canada. I love them, but can’t get them here. I’ve enjoyed shrimp and grits at Epcot Food Festival. I’ve never heard of northern and southern corn bread, but I’ve probably had southern. It’s like eating cake with dinner. Yum.
