Royal Court Royal Tea Booking Questions

I'm hoping to book the Royal Court Tea for my granddaughter and have a few questions.
**First, as first time cruisers I know we get last pick so I want to maximize my chances. Would there more likely be an opening if there's just one adult with the kiddo or would we be just as likely with 2 adults?
**Also, my granddaughter and her family are in a different room and on a different (but linked) reservation. Can I book for them? Daughter isn't loving the idea of staying up til midnight lol!
**Finally, what information will I need to have on hand if I'm booking for them? Thanks!

I just got off the Disney dream this morning, 1st time cruiser as well it was my daughters birthday. Once bookings opened for me the royal tea was already booked, I checked everyday nothing became available. Once on the ship I went to guest services my daughter and I were 1st on the waitlist. Royal tea was at 3pm in royal palace we waited outside dressed and ready in case someone didn’t show but it was all booked! We had no luck at all, but we did look in though the window at it and there was so much to do on the ship and I bought so many souvenirs I’m glad I saved the $289.

Since it sounds like your reservations are already linked, you won’t need anything special to book them. On your booking day, as long as your PIF, you can log in to book. Just select your reservation, and then on-board activities, and then the day the event is (we’ve never done that specific one, so I don’t know when it is usually held). It will show you the times and everyone you can book for (which will basically be the whole party).

If you’re linked, once you go to the date - onboard experiences - royal tea, all of the people in the linked parties will appear. You click next to the child’s name, then whatever adult(s) will be going with her. You can’t book adults without a child. Check the days at sea right away, those are usually the days that the royal tea is offered. You can quickly toggle to another date if the first one you check is full. On our first cruise, it was the tea on the third day at sea that had an opening (I guess people preferred to do this experience earlier on as opposed to a later day). It’s easier to book whatever adults “may” want to go and then call DCL to have them removed, as you can’t add an additional one online b/c you can’t re-select the same child. Also, don’t pay heed to other peoples’ opinions on how many adults should go to experience this magic with a child.

I think capacity is based on youth, with more flex around the adults. That said, I really wouldn't book more than 1 adult for the Tea. The value is weak for additional adults.

There was a family on my last cruise who brought 6 adults with 1 child.

I had thoughts.
Is there food for the adults? Does each table get the same amount, or is it increased if there are more adults? We have a Grandma/Mom/Aunt all wanting to go for our princesses first one and some girl time, while the guys do a mixology.

I’ve done several, in the old days free on TA but no gifts. Might still be free on TA, I don’t know. There were tea sandwiches cookies, tea, plenty of food for those at the table and we could ask for more of favorites. We’ve gone just mom and daughter, family, and with our Disney fairy Grandma Linda. Wouldn’t trade any of them. It is really expensive now so reality would be a one and done:). Have fun!

There is food but generally it's not a lot of food - finger sandwiches and such. No gifts for the adults.

We just sailed on the Fantasy and did the Royal Tea and LOVED it. We had three girls and five adults which gave us a table all to ourselves. We had two tea trays of snacks - small finger sandwiches and desserts. My youngest (five) loved every minute.

They have a little ‘show’ and three princesses came out to visit. Still no autographs or hugs - but they chatted quite a bit at each table which was nice.

The serving team asked if we wanted additional sandwiches or desserts. We declined but they seemed ready to bring us anything extra.

All that said, I think this will be a one and done for us. Our youngest had a wonderful time and we enjoyed her joy. :)

We did this on our last cruise and it was a fun experience. It was me and two daughters.

I will say though that while the experience was special it was not quite as good as the Perfectly Princess Tea and the Grand Floridian so if you are spending time at WDW before or after the cruise I would also consider that option.

So what exactly is the cost? Is it $289 for adult and child or for each person? What if two adults wish to go? I'm looking at this but not sure.

But you can have more than one adult with the child. We are having 3 adults (mom ans the 2 grandmas) with 2 children. When you book, it won’t let you book unless at least one of the children are selected. We linked reservations.

We are doing that. But it was a struggle because the child and one adult were platinum and booked at that window. When the gold window came up, the other adult tried to book and it wouldn't let her because she didn't have a child selected, even though she was linked to the other reservation. We had to contact DCL and get some "pixie dust" to get her added. I didn't think it would be a problem, since she is at our same table and shouldn't impact capacity that way.

Something similar happened to us - my mother is gold and my parents booked a mixology class that happened to be at the same time as the tea. I called after I booked me and the girls for the tea (silver) and they switched her no problem.

Can anyone tell me if tips are expected/encouraged for the Royal Court Royal Tea Party and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique?

It did not occur to me for Royal Court Royal Tea (we did not and I didn’t see anyone else leave any cash on any tables) but at BBB they do not accept tips. I attempted to give at the end, and they said they are not permitted. They can give you a card to write a thank-you or glowing review.

The waitstaff that serve you are the regular MDR staff, so their tips are part of each guest's recommended/autocharged gratuities--just like when you eat at an MDR for breakfast or lunch, your tips are included even though you don't have the same dining team as dinner time. The performers are performers--they can't/won't accept tips.
