🦃🍁 HAPPY DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING! 🍁🦃
If you don’t have what you need, you better get to that grocery store early to avoid the crowds.

For my working DIS friends…..
Are you getting time off for the holiday?
If yes…what days are you off work?
(multiple choice)
*please answer if you are retired.

For Me…..I am off work Thanksgiving Day, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (office is always closed on Sunday).

I am off Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Basically Thursday is the only day off for Thanksgiving because I would be off Sat and Sun anyway. I would LOVE to be off on Friday, but that's not happening.

Ours schools are off today and go back Monday.
And so I have DGS today.

DD is off the 4 days, as is DIL and DS (although he might be called in Friday and/or Saturday because of a project deadline)

DH and I are retired.

When I was working, our branch office would close at noon today, closed tomorrow and Friday, reopen on Monday. Retired now so it's like Saturday most of the time. And Marie and I do get confused at times, not often, as to what day of the week it is. Like if a normal work week has a Monday or Friday off for a holiday, it would often throw us off for a few days to get back on track.

I work at a University and we don't have labs this week, so I could take as much time as I want; grading obligations can always be handled from home. However, there was a big exam on Monday evening and as the prof and all the TAs want to go home for Thanksgiving, I went in yesterday and helped with exam grading. It was about 8 hours of grading with a break in the middle for attending seminar and having a fast lunch. We were done by 5. NOT the day I'd planned, makes today a little tighter, time-wise, but it seemed like the right thing to do! I'm home now, about to do the last shopping run. I still have grading to finish by Monday (30 quizzes and 30 lab reports) so I'll be working from home over then rest of the week, and I'll probably bop into the lab on Sunday afternoon to set up next week's labs. They are ready to roll, but I hate to leave it all until Monday morning- it's just a time crunch, ya know?

Your list doesn't go far enough. Off Thursday through Monday, but Monday is vacation time nearly everyone takes as it's the first day of buck.

This is my first year having Thursday and Friday off without taking PTO for Friday. Management gets Friday as a holiday but my hourly paid team has to work. However next year they will have Friday off as a holiday as well. Anything that is processed this Friday doesn’t go through until Monday night anyways so I have PTO to anyone that asked, there really is no reason for them to be there unless they want to or feel that they need to get caught up on stuff.

Our offices are normally closed on Mondays but this week we are working Mon & Tues, off Wed-Thurs-Fri. Back for half day on Saturday.
Except me. I have to go in for about 3 hours today 9:30--12:30 as I already had several road tests scheduled & the examiner doesn't know how to get in computer to print out certificates so I said I would come in long enough to do that.

I'm retired now but used to get Friday off. It was a Mon-Fri job and the weekends were always off. It was always nice to have Friday to recover from hosting the big Thanksgiving feast. :)

I hope to get off early today may or may not happen who knows depends on his mood - I’m off Thursday & Friday but May end up having to do some work anyway as it’s so close to month end but that would be at home
Happy Thanksgiving DIS Peeps 🦃🦃🦃

DH is federal govt, Only holiday is Thursday, but he has annual leave/vacation scheduled the whole week. I'm on furlough, but would've been the same for me. When I worked at a public library, we only got Thursday off. Open rest of the week, including both weekend days

Off at 2 PM Wed, through Friday, and I used some PTO I needed to burn to take off Monday and Tuesday after, too!

My office is always closed on Thanksgiving and the day after. I don't work on weekends, so I'll be off Thursday through Sunday. I sometimes take the day before Thanksgiving off, but we aren't traveling until tomorrow, so I'm working today.

We’re closed Thursday and Friday. Some years ago, they chose to swap President’s Day with the Friday after thanksgiving as one of our holidays.

I have Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving. I always have Saturday and Sunday off (outside of very rare occasions, like twice in 9 years, when I've had to come in a little on a weekend day).

I always have Saturday and Sunday off. We run a skeleton crew on the weekends always and my job type isn't necessary on weekends. So really for the holiday, I'm off today (Wednesday), Thursday and Friday. We only recently started getting Wednesday off. I appreciate it. It's the pre-holiday housework day!
