Harry and Meghan Netflix documentary

Well, good. As I understand the current news reporting the royal family will not have a summit meeting with Harry and Meghan. No apology. They will continue to respond with silence and ignoring them.
I am sure they are not ignoring them, but taking the high road and dealing with family matter privately.

This piece in The NY Times is another interesting angle on Harry and Meghan. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/16/arts/television/harry-meghan-race.html?searchResultPosition=5. The piece is written by a woman of color, and basically goes on to say that yes, Meghan should have been "enough" for the Royal Family....referring to the effort she sees herself as making, and without any "back-up" from the Institution. That's all well and good according to this author, but she brings up another point.

Harry says in the doc that the RF should have seen Meghan as a real asset....the first POC in the RF. She was dubbed "The Commonwealth Princess". And yes, while it's always great to have inclusivity in any institution, the idea that Meghan would somehow "smooth things over" with the Commonwealth Nations is kind of laughable. We're talking about hundreds of years of history here. In the period of time since Meghan has been around, six commonwealth nations have publicly expressed desire to completely cut ties with the Crown. And in the author's opinion, *that* is the fairytale ending that the Royals deserve. Sure, little girls of color could look up to Meghan as someone who looks like them....etc, but it speaks to an inflated sense of self to suggest that her presence would have achieved anything more than that.

I'm not sure what's with all the editing either. It made it very difficult to follow this thread when I was trying to read it once I had decided to watch the documentary. I get if you want to edit a post and while it's someone's prerogative to do I'm not sure why edit all your posts after the fact. Is there a concern about breaking a DIS guideline or something?

Thank you, AndreaA. Sorry, but it was necessary to take them down. I was reading my previous posts and decided to take them down. Meghan and Harry are litigious people and I decided to take myself out of any potential cross-hairs. They have a lot of young supporters who read these boards. I believe what I said was true and well within the parameters of social commentary about public figures. So, I think what I posted was fine. But I'd rather keep my coins in my bank account instead of paying lawyers to prove that.
Once a post had been quoted it will stick around. And people do get e-mails regarding updates in the thread (and that would be just as much of interest for legal terms as quoted posts). In terms of legality just deleting your post won't do much. I may not agree with you all the time but I respect people regardless of that so this is coming from a place of sincerity if you are truly concerned with what ramifications can occur from what you write out in the real world it would be wise to not write anything at all, do not post at all regarding said topic, period, at all. Digital footprints exist.

Completely off topic but when I worked at the insurance company under my employment terms was the fact that I could be subpoenaed at any point in time for what I said (even during non-recorded phone calls) or wrote. Never happened to me but it was a possibility. I do not in any way shape or form think someone from either the royal family or H&M would ever take up legal action against you as a person from what you write on the DIS, it's like Disney they do not go after every person even if they are violating something, you're not a reporter for a newspaper, you are writing on an internet forum. Death threats and other things? Yeah different story but not what you've written.

Just my honest opinion --I'd personally suggest just not posting if you're actually concerned. Remember what they used to say years back "once something is on the internet it's on there". If you're really that concerned, not posting would be my advice. Make of it what you will :flower3:

H&M are weird, but I wouldn't be scared they come after you. They would more likely start with the comment sections of the tabloids if they want to sue everyone who has a bad opinion about them ;-)
The DIS is too insignificant for this. 99% of the people on this board are probably 18 years or older. They are adults who can form their own opinion.
But if I have to interpret your post that H&M supporters have been harrassing you in your DIS DMs... I would call for the help of a moderator.

The duo have some very over the top stans.
And I agree about DMing for mod assistance if needed.

Is this a way to bump the thread? I've been reading through and keep seeing posts with this and was wondering what this is for/means
If I understand the post of Ms Bibbidi above (still readable in post #495) apparently the SussexSquad found the DIS and started harrassing her. But we are waiting for Bibbidi to come back to confirm or deny this.

If the SussexSquad is on here, they didn't slid into my DMs yet. While I have been very vocal the past year on this board that I am very firmly #teamroyal.
