No, you can't.

On my last few trips, I have been consistently asked to show my AP in the app, so the cast member can see that it is active, and the expiration date, before applying the discount. Also an ID.

The one thing you can do before activation is to book park reservations, and book an AP discount at a resort, but then you have to activate it on arrival for that trip.

Can APs be used for food & shopping discounts at resorts or Springs before activating them for first park entry?

Also, am I correct in my assumption that if you can use it for discounts, it doesn’t trigger the clock on expiration?

I might take a quick trip with one of my sons to an after hours event in July and wouldn’t be going to a park during normal hours. But I hope I can take advantage of discounts when eating, etc.

My family is all going on an August trip and I hope to keep our expirations the same.

Yes but you want to use the benefits of an AP that is not active. An AP is active for 1 year. If you want to use it for benefits in July then you will need to activate your pass. You can't double dip and use it early. If it's not active for park entry why should it be active for discounts?

We just bought DVC and APs. Can I buy discounted MNSSHP and/or AH tickets for my daughter and her boyfriend who have neither? We will not be along on their trip. How about the single day WP tickets?

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

Can a day be added to 4 day non-hopper purchased from UCT? Do I have to decide before I use it? Will it be cheaper than just getting a one day ticket?

Any info appreciated!

Hello all, I have an interesting dilemma re. how to book the following scenario:

  • Book 4 guests at Pop Century for 7 nights
  • 3 guests would purchase a 4 day theme park ticket
  • 1 guest would purchase a 10 day theme park ticket BUT they would start using their ticket 1 week prior to the hotel check-in
I believe all 4 guests would need to have the exact same 4 day theme park ticket when making the reservation with Disney, which would make the above scenario not possible.

Is there another way to do this? Maybe just book the hotel room only, and have all guests purchase their tickets separately (through Disney or a 3rd party), then attach the tickets to the hotel reservation?

Or is the only option to have that 1 guest purchase a separate 6 day ticket (which would wind up being more expensive over purchasing a 10 day ticket)?

Thanks all!

We had annual passes for years but let them lapse in 2020. We haven't been to WDW since. We have a trip planned for August. I purchased 10 day park hoppers for all of us. Now we've decided to also do a 5 day trip the first week of June. Taking into consideration the cost of both tickets per person, the additional onsite deluxe hotel discounts we might have gotten for both trips, the dining and merchandise discounts we could have gotten (we eat 2 or 3 sit down meals per day, often signature at dinner time), obviously we should have waited and gotten annual passes. Is this still a possibility? Can I trade in the 10 day ph tickets I bought for August and get annual passes to activate in June? Will I lose the park reservations I already made? In addition, does anyone know if there is decent resort availabilty left with the annual pass discounts for early June and late August, preferably around Crescent Lake? Would changing be worth the hassle, or should I just eat the extra cost and plan better next time?

Edited to add: I'm also planning to buy MNSSHP tickets tonight or tomorrow for August. AP discount would apply there as well.

Can I trade in the 10 day ph tickets I bought for August and get annual passes to activate in June? yes, you can convert those to passes and pay the difference.
Will I lose the park reservations I already made? no you wont lose them.
In addition, does anyone know if there is decent resort availabilty left with the annual pass discounts for early June and late August, preferably around Crescent Lake? there is available with great rates.

Yes, you can add a day. You would need to call Disney to do it through them, or you may be able to return/exchange through UCT. The cost should be the difference between what WDW sold a 4-day ticket for your dates at the time you bought from UCT and the cost of the new 5-day on WDW’s website. Note that if you bought from UCT before WDW had the ticket increase back in December you will get hit with that as well.

  • 1 guest would purchase a 10 day theme park ticket BUT they would start using their ticket 1 week prior to the hotel check-in
Book the resort as a room-only reservation, no tickets.

Then buy the tickets separately based on what each person wants.

Your "voucher" for an AP is showing with an expiration date. That is different from an active AP and it's expiration date. You would need to activate your AP to receive any benefits from it. So without activation, no food or shopping discounts, no free parking at parks, no discounted AH tickets, no discounted hotel rooms ...

You can book a hotel room at the discounted AP price before going but once there if your AP doesn't get activated on trip, your hotel rate would revert to full price. So if you are staying on property I would book with a general public discount.

FROM DISNEY WEBSITE :
For you to take advantage of the many perks and discounts available to Annual Passholders, your annual pass would need to be activated. I confirmed with a friendly Cast Member that you can book a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel with an annual pass discount (if available and applicable) over the phone. However, when you check in, you'd have to show your activated annual pass. If your pass is not activated at the time of check-in, you would be charged the full price for the room. So if you were not planning on activating your annual pass for your trip in August, you would not be able to take advantage of any annual pass discounts at that time.

Hello!
I have a trip planned for August, and just found out that due to a work schedule we may have to shift it 2 days earlier. I bought tickets through undercover tourist, and have linked them to my Disney account already. Is it possible to adjust the dates of the tickets at this point, or are we stuck?
Thanks!

Silly question but will we be able to use the passholder lines at the tapstyles if I have an AP but my partner has a regular ticket? I know they're not always shorter or faster but I would like to use the option if possible.

You should be able to change them through WDW, but you probably need to call. Alternatively, I think you can exchange them through UT but there may be a fee involved. So I'd try through WDW first.

All the tap points are the same, all will register in the system no matter what the pass type. The real question is how do you feel about putting out a cast member should an issue arise with the non-AP ticket as they go to tap in?

I would use the non-passholder lines. They're not that much longer, and often faster. (Goto the far left for the shortest lines - also applies to toll booths.)

I know to go left and tbh that has not been my experience with regular lines since Magic Mobile came out. Which is why I asked. The intent is not to put out cast members.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand the question. I thought you were asking if a normal ticket holder could use the AP lines. The technical answer is Yes, despite the label the scan point is the same, they can, but it may be awkward should a problem arise. Could you rephrase your initial question?

Yes, you can. I’ve sometimes seen a CM outside the Passholder line asking people whether they have an AP or not and sending the non-passholders to a regular line, but I haven’t seen them splitting parties.
