Our first stay at the Disneyland Hotel - a couple of questions please :)

Afternoon all,

I hope you’re all having a great start to the week!

Things at our house are both exciting and a little frustrated right now – exciting because our Halloween 2016 visit is getting close, but a little frustrating because it’s still far away enough to make us all a little grumpy :)

I was hoping someone could help me out with a couple of questions please?

One is about parking at the Disneyland Hotel…specifically disabled parking.

Are there plenty of disabled parking spaces close to the entrance of the hotel? Halloween 2016 will be the first time we have ever stopped at the Disneyland Hotel so until now, we’ve never seen the guests entrance.

The other question is about our bags/luggage on our first day at DLP.

On our previous visits, we’ve been at the Hotel Santa Fe and have checked in very early on our first day (too early to be able to use our room)…so we’ve just parked our car as close as possible to our room and left the bags/luggage in the car whilst we’ve enjoyed our first day in the park.

Do you think we should do this at the Disneyland Hotel, or would it be better to take our bags as we check in first thing in the morning and leave our bags in the hotel storage room for us to collect later that day?

Thanks in advance

Steve :)

You can make use of the valet parking which was free when we used it. They unload your luggage and deliver to your room and will park your car for you

even if you dont use Valet parking and park yourself, they will still bring your bags to your room for you. I arrived by bus and checked in at 12pm. My room wasnt ready so I left my luggage in the luggage store, which is located on one side of the lobby. They give you a a bag relcaim tag for each bag. Then I did check in and got my park tickets and went off to the parks. I went back around 3.30pm and got my room key. They took my bag reclaim tags and brought my bags to my room for me, so I just went back out to the parks :) Im not sure how long it took for the bags to be brought up as I didnt go back to room until about 8pm and they were there then.

The same when I was leaving. Before I left my room I just rang down and asked for my bags to be collected. Then later that day when I was ready to leave and get the bus I went to the luggage store desk, showed my ID and they brought out my bags :)

That sounds great.
Thanks for the info guys :)

Can you help with a question about tipping? Not really had anyone shift my luggage around before - what's the "normal" amount to tip?

Thanks
Steve

In France they don't expect tips but we gave €5 as they delivered it really quickly

Tipping is a tough question at DLP. Just so you know, the casts are not allowed to receive tips. By law, there is no such things as a "tipped position" in France. I never tip anywhere in DLP because I don't want anyone to feel uncomfortable or to face an argument with their manager. On the *rare* cases that I did want to tip because of exceptionnal service, I politely asked first if it was okay, stating why I wanted to tip. (Usually the tip is accepted with a notice that it will be used by a manager to buy something for the team. For reference, I do ask because the first time I left a tip was at a restaurant and my server ran after me because I "forgot" some money on the table.)

Regarding the baggage, you can drop it at the Bagagerie when you check-in. They will deliver to your room. When you check out, just leave the baggage in your room and it will get collected. You will be able to reclaim at the Bagagerie, which is conveniently located near the main entrance.

As for accessible parking, I suggest you ask when you enter the hotel. Should the cast at the barrier not speak english enough to help you, just proceed to the main gate and someome will be able to help. I believe there is free Valet parking for guests in the Castle Club, I'm not sure if it is possible for other guests.

Let us know how this worked for you!

1 euro per bag/case is often a good marker.

Don't worry about parking at the Disneyland Hotel. Just drive up to the door and they will unload your car and park it for you. There is no charge for this, your bags will be taken up to your room. If you arrive early its not a problem they will store your luggage and bring it up later. Enjoy your trip xx

Thanks for the info everyone - just what I was looking for :)

Another question for anyone who as ever stayed in a family room - the agent on the phone told us there were two double beds and a sofa-bed....how big is the sofa bed?
Is it big enough for an adult?

The sofa bed is single sized but big enough for an adult. If you look at my trip report on my signature for DLH 2010 you'll see our family room. Photos also on the hotel sticky.
