DDP Menu Question

Hello! I'm planning a Disney vacation with my family and, as the title of the thread says, I have a question on the dining plan. If I were to go to a restaurant that accepts the DDP, and want to use a credit on a meal at that restaurant, us there a separate, limited menu I choose from, or can I order anything from the regular menu (alcohol excluded) and use a dining credit for it? I would hate to pay so much for DDP and then find out that at half the restaurants my family and I have a choice between only a few meals instead of the full menu.

In general, the menu is the menu. It's not limited. At certain signature restaurants, there may be excluded items.

We haven't encountered any meals where we couldn't order what we wanted on DDP. We have eaten at LeCellier, which is a 2 credit meal, and DH and DS chose the steak they wanted, and I did not notice anything excluded. Most character meals are buffets, which are of course all inclusive. As PP mentioned, there may be a few items at some signature restaurants, but for the most part you will be able enjoy your favorite meals on the menu. Just be aware of 2 credit meals, since you use up two credits for one meal on those, so you have to take that into account for your week. Enjoy!

You can't choose "anything" from the regular menu. On the dining plan, your credit covers an entree and drink. The dining plan credit does not cover "enhancements," sides, or appetizers.

Whether seated meal or quick service, your meal includes entree, drink and dessert. Helpful tip with the dining plan, never waste snack item on bottled water or sodas. You wont get your moneys worth. Use those snacks on anything $3 and up to make the plan be worth it.

But surely there are some limitations? The Brown Derby has Kobe beef on the standard entreé list - not enhancement. I'm thinking that's probably not on the list of available offerings for the DDP

The only limitations I've run into are meals for 2 or apps for 2 on the deluxe dining plan in which case 2 people can typically order that to share and it's fine. The Brown Derby is a 2 credit meal so I'd imagine the Kobe beef is included.

I believe it's ok, since it's priced at $74. It's a two TS credit restaurant, and from what I've seen, the "limit" is $74 before a surcharge kicks in at the Signatures.

Thanks! I may have to look at our ADRs Right now, I have Le Cellier but I keep reading about massive changes in the menu. Maybe I should consider this one instead...

Have surcharges been officially announced yet? There aren't any surcharges on the current dining plan as far as I know.

There is currently a surcharge on the Wagyu steaks at Yachtsman, and while I haven't seen the US version of the 2017 DDP brochure, the UK one states "Prix fixe menus and certain select menu items require payment of an additional amount in addition to redeeming the number of Table-Service entitlements required at the location". I would guess that the US version will follow suite, but I certainly don't know that to be a fact. Of course, the "certain select menu items" might just be the Wagyu at Yachtsman. I know I've seen the $74 limit for a single menu item somewhere...but it may have been here, so take it for what it's worth.

Also it is worth noting that the "surcharge" may kick in at an entree above $74 but it does not value that item at $74. I read the $145 wagyu has a $97 surcharge, so only the first $52 of "value" is included under the plan.
