i have seen some information that Tortila requires passport and cruise ship registration papers where you go through their customs upon disembarkation. Can some one elaborate on the details of the process at Tortola. We are thinking of booking an independent excursion. Also, what is the prevailing currency in use on Tortola?

We were there on a cruise in April and didn't need anything more than our cruise card and photo ID. Currency is the US dollar.

If you are on a closed loop sailing, out of a US port, and a US citizen, you're good.

NOTE: Be aware that Caribbean cruises that begin and end in the United States (closed loop cruises) do not require that you travel with a valid passport.

If any of the above do not apply, call your TA, or lawyer, immediately. ::yes::

:)

ETA; The official currency of the British Virgin Islands (Tortola) is the United States dollar.
