What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

Do we need to bring our own towels for the pool at the resort, or do they offer free towels?
They have towels at the main pools for you to use. Unless they have changed in the last six months, the quiet pools did not have any available. Thanks

I will start a list of not so normal items to pack for use at WDW.

We bring a McDonalds takeout cardboard 4 cup holder. We bring plastic Disney cups in 4 different patterns, whcih fit into the McDonalds 4 cup holder. What we use it for is a tooth brush holder. Everyone gets a cup assigned to them, to place their toothbrush in. The toothbrushes are organized and do not touch the counter. :goodvibes

We also bring a power bar with at least 8 outlets in it. We use the power bar to plug in our 4 cell phones, camera batteries, ipods, and anything else which needs charging. It helps when there are only 2 or 3 plus available to charge things at night. :goodvibes

We bring ziplock bags in quart and gallon sizes. We use them to store any food we bring back to the room (no bugs please) and our cell phones & camera's when it rains. :goodvibes

What do you bring and use at WDW which are not normal items like a brush, clothes, extra sneakers ?
POWER BAR! Good idea! We always stop at the dollar store before packing and bring glow necklaces to wear at night; $1 ponchos just in case; fold up hampers so everyone can toss their own dirty clothes in them.

I bring a bunch of zip lock sandwhich baggies. I use them for a lot of things (and everyone laughs at me, then borrows some). When it rains, I put my phone in a Baggie to keep it dry.

THIS! I bring a TON of ziploc bags in all sizes ... We have been rained out on SO many trips, it's now standard issue for me to pack empty bags. Every day, every single thing gets placed in a ziploc, so if it rains, I'm not panicking about my stuff being wet.

I love ziploc people! We were on Kali River Rapids and a very prepared mom gave us two gallon bags for our phones and purses. I was grateful. Next time I will bring some myself.

One thing that I took this past trip that I haven't in the past is clear travel bags (that I use for our carry ons when we fly) to put our items in such as tylenol, extra contacts, contact solution, chap stick, etc. We carry one backpack into the park and have used separate smaller bags to keep things organized. In years past, I use to put in ziploc bags but they didn't hold up as well then we switched to regular zippered makeup bags (like the kind you get as a free gift) and those worked really well. Since they stepped security, they will ask you to even unzip your smaller bags (well most did). So I put everything in the clear zipper bag (like the two below), we got through security much faster and I was even thanked by one of them.

On my next trip? Probably a travel alarm clock now that I have heard Disney is eliminating alarm clocks from their hotel rooms. Talk about an item I never imagined I would need to pack!!

Historically? Crayons. When I was a kid, I always drew while waiting for food at restaurants. I still keep a tablet and pack of colored pencils at the bottom of my carryon bag in case I get stranded somewhere without anything to do.
Don't need to pack an alarm clock OR use your phone. When you check in simply ask for one! They removed them from the rooms because they were a huge nuisance, folks were getting awakened by previous alarm setters.
All the resorts carry them for free to use!

I do this as well. I also always bring a 2nd pair of shoes to the parks as my feet do better when I change midday. Because the bottoms get dirty, I would always put them in shopping bag, so they wouldn't get on everything. It worked, but wasn't see through. Then I bought a new sheet set for my bed & realized the clear zippered bag they came in were the perfect size for shoes.

I like to use empty Altoids tins to organize things in my park bag. Just the right size for a mini first aid kit, a separate one for ear buds and the like, and also to corral miscellaneous items like ear plugs and pieces of Moleskin.

I wear cargo shorts/pants with lots of zippered/snap/velco pockets. If I can't fit it in a pocket, it doesn't go with me. this way I never have to stop at a bag check.I also carry a few plastic zip loc sandwich bags. If I go on a water ride, I put anything that can't get wet in a bag and stuff it back in my pocket. I also leave my wallet in my suitcase in the hotel room, carrying with me only my id, one credit card, and a little bit of cash. A lot less bulk.

We do this too! I save bags from travel kits or I order cheap ones from Amazon. They are great!

Actually the info she is giving is CORRECT. Disney call centers do not give out the correct advice.
Maxiesmom has been on these boards for a long time and she knows her stuff.
People ask questions here and her advice helps many.
No need for you to be so rude.

I guess your information is better than disneys? what are you, the disney rule police, here to enforce the rules of what you think people should or shouldn't pack? every post you have on this thread is telling others what they can't do...get a life

Nope. Trying to warn you that the CMs on the phone don't know their stuff all of the time. I'd trust my fellow Disboarders over them any day of the week.
