Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE RESORT Information & Questions

I really do not see a need for an internal bus though. I have been at the back and it is just a 10 minute leisure walk to the front. I cannot see myself ever using it other then to go to POFQ, by the time you walk to the bus stop and unless the bus is right there it will take longer. May I add that the only type of shape I am in, is round, so not like I like to exercise:laughing: and have never felt like it was a long walk. But that's just me.

As someone who has been at this resort and badly injured (and possibly might be still on the next trip), I am very much looking forward to this.

Do they still have the make your own pasta at Riverside Mill? I don't see it on the menu on the Disney site - I see the make your own salad but not pasta. Was hoping to visit POR next trip and have it.

Just got back from our 3rd stay at POR. Sad to say it was not the best. Water wheel was not working most of the time, several food service employees seemed unhappy to be there, ice always out in most machines, employees chatting among themselves outside when we arrived (no welcome home). We also had poor cleaning staff. Our beds were always sloppily made, once time they forgot to put the bedroll on the bed, no refills on shampoo and conditioner until the last day (5 nights) when ours were empty, trash taken out but trash can left in middle of bathroom area, etc. We noticed towel animals in the rooms windows next to us. We do expect them, and have never had them but thought we might get lucky. With they said the mousekeepers have always at least rearranged the kids Disney stuffed animals. At the very least set them on the bed by the pillows. My kids brought 6 in anticipation of such and they were always in the same pile we left them on the table. It would seem cost cutting is in effect. We did complain on day 4 , when the bedroll was also left on the floor, and were given 2 fastpasses for our last day. Unfortunately, being Animal Kingdom with small kids we did not need them. They said they have been instructed not to give any shampoo and conditioner unless it was empty or very close to. The gal at the front recommended hiding them to get more! We also waited 25 minutes for buses on our opening MK day and AK day. The MK bus being so late made us arrive while the Welcome show was going on. Really disappointing. I am so sad to see service going down at our favorite place.

I'm really pleased to hear that bit. My wife gets really annoyed when we open a new bar of soap, and the next housekeeping visit it gets thrown away and a fresh sealed bar is left for us. Talk about wasteful!

Andre, any word on when the Christmas/New Year's activities will be released? I thought they would be included in the monthly recreation schedule, but they're not. Thanks!

Last year they included Xmas / New Year in the general December activities schedule sheets, but prior to that there has always been a separate sheet which was issued a few days beforehand.

Interesting. That would be frustrating. We have never had them throw away partially used items in the past, just leave an extra in case it's needed.

I know this post is almost a month old and I'm sorry, but posts like this make me so happy we chose this resort for our honeymoon! It makes it sound like we made the right choice! I'm so excited, yet it's so far away!

You will love it!!
We are booked at the Beach Club for spring break and I am seriously toying with moving us to POR. We had such a great time, and especially for the price difference. :)

We are planning a WDW trip the first week of April 2017 and I'd really like to stay at POR, but... with the recent discounts the pricing for CBR is $50 less per night. So I booked CBR. The resorts are pretty comparable, although the landscaping, boat to DS, and Yehaw Bob do make POR stand out above all others.

I can"afford" to spend the extra money, but our expenses are running high these days. Some DIS regulars may recall that we adopted twin teen girls from Colombia a year ago. We will also be bringing one of their friends. I guess I'll just keep watching for further discounts, which may be wishful thinking since our week is close to Easter.

We have stayed at all the moderates and values and POR is the best!

I am too. I was originally booked here for a bounceback, then I switched to a special TA rate at the Poly. But honestly, I don't really feel great about spending all the extra money for just 2 of us. POR looks like a pretty good location for the price considering the boat to DS!

Sitting at the airport waiting to board our flight home after an awesome first stay at POR.

So many wonderful things to say and a few things that I noticed could use improvement.

This was our first trip back in 5 years so we were just super excited to be back in the World.

Check in was quick and painless. We had 2 back to back reservations (a Room Only for 2 nights followed by a 5 night package) and were allowed to stay in the same room.

We had room 3833 in building 38 of Alligator Bayou. It was just lovely. Clean and tidy. We never had any complaints about the room itself.

Mousekeeping came every day and emptied our trash, left clean towels and always left more shampoo and conditioner (we stashed the extras away!).

We used the food court a lot as we were on the QSDP. The food was always good and hot and plentiful. The one thing I noticed is that like the poster above, the ice machines were not working and the utensil machines were often empty.

Also, quite a few Cast Members seemed as though they were not happy to be at work. As I recall, it was mostly the younger people, 25 and under. With the exception of one lady, all of the more mature (35 and older) Cast Members that I interacted with seemed happy and enthusiastic to be serving their customers.

Our room location was about a 3 minute walk from the North bus depot and about a 7 minute walk from the main building.

We used the pool a few times as it was quite hot all week. No complaints there.

Overall, we had a truly wonderful experience at this resort! I would not hesitate to return!

Any questions, please feel free to ask here or PM me.

Our travel agent is telling us that the Disney rep told her that no Royal Rooms are connecting rooms. I know this cannot be correct, as I have stayed in a set previously. My question is, Has anyone on here specifically stayed in a connecting Royal Room with a River View? The maps on PortOrleans.org show quite a few, so I don't know what to believe. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Your TA is wrong, there are lots. We stayed in two River View Royal Rooms which connected last year in fact. My maps are about as accurate as you are going to get - as far as I know anyway, I haven't stayed in all 3,000+ to check... :)

Thanks, Andre! Exactly what I was looking for! I didn't want to be too hopeful if what I was requesting was some sort of magical unicorn room equivalent.

If I request close to bus and close to food court will we be in AB? ... Or do I need to request that too?

Not necessarily. Some of the closest rooms that match that request (apart from if you have already paid for Preferred Location) would be in Magnolia Terrace. If you want AB, I'd suggest using building 16/17 as examples.
