You will have endless choices. Rt. 192 runs just outside WDW and is almost wall to wall restaurants and gift shops. Any kind of food you want, it's there. Tons of chain restaurants.

It's a bit of a drive, but my absolute favorite restaurant in Orlando is Hash House a Go Go. We also recently at at Tapa Toro and that was great as well.

We stayed off property last month (and have a car even when we stay on property and enjoy going out into Orlando to eat). We really liked Chevy's for Tex Mex and Giordano's for Chicago stuffed pizza. On our trip later this year we plan to hit Hash House A Go Go, Texas de Brazil or Fogo de Chao, and 4 River's Smokehouse.

Longhorns Steak House , Millers Ale House, Texas Roadhouse , & More

All on Hwy 192 8 min drive from Animal Kingdom .

Cafe Tu Tu Tango.

Kae
Just make sure to check the menu on this one first. I went here with my cousin's wife because she's a local and suggested it. It's sooooo not my flavor of food and I ended up ordering pizza to my hotel room afterwards lol.

I know there are lots of choices...looking for a fun offsite restaurant to eat with my folks...like maybe in Disney Springs? I thought there might be a thread about these restaurants...Thanks.

There are tons of restaurants. Anything on Disney property is going to be expensive. If you are going for easier food, we love Miller's Ale House. Although a chain, the Lonestar is EXCELLENT. We got there during Happy Hour. 2-for-1 beers, $4 Margaritas, 6oz sirloin was like $8. 3 adults with drinks and 1 child was a total of $80 with tip. I had a 12oz ribeye, 2 beers, 4 margaritas, and 3 of the 6oz sirloins. For half the meal, we would have paid more than 2x that for what we got. It would have been $50 for meal, each margarita would have been $10, each beer would have been $8.

Thanks. I remembered Miller's Ale House from previous trips. Always on my list but never quite made it...that might be the ticket!...but they don't take reservations...hoping for reservations as we are a party of 7.

Yes there is lots of threads on this.... You didn't really mention if your looking for good deals, fancy date night, quick food stops on the way in and out of parks so here is a little mix of different options..

192 has everything you can think of and everyone is right about that. Also they kind of fight for anyone that left disney property tourist money so I find many of them to be amazing food deals with some making things cheaper than you can make yourself at home.

I actually like the celebration restaurants and can make a lovely quiet evening out. (someone also does a nice food tour where you hit 4 places with their "iconic" menu item for a nice weekend afternoon) when you want to do somethign but having a rest day.

also in celebration but the area right off 192 is holler & dash, only for breakfast and lunch but they are an amazing biscuit house and it's their first in florida location. They only opened in the last month or two. Not as low cost of other known for breakfast locations but a really nice change but still familiar way to start the day.. It's also across the street from disney executive buildings so a great time to stare down those that pick the theme park prices and you might just run into them to politely have them overhear your what is wrong with WDW discussion (ok not really but I dream of someone getting it one day).

If you have the time and want the best of the best, head over to one of the 4rivers locations. It's BBQ so not fine dining but they are amazing and only found in the central florida area. People cater their wedding with them it's so good. Closest recently opened up in kissimmee and is about 20 minutes away (30-35 if you avoid the toll road). It's also in an area with miles of larger store strip malls if that might interest you for shopping (google "The Loop"). My sister when in town loves heading over there and she can hit some clothing stores you just don't have in the northeast where she lives.

Winter Park has a lot of choices but further from disney that locals near disney wouldn't consider a run out for dinner distance. The Ravenous Pig especially is good the family is actually opening a slight variation of this place in springs under the name Polite Pig. Winter park is actually what I would call a hot bed for food and right now there is a lot of moves and new things appearing, all have been best of best quality in my mind. It's also a lovely town to visit but it's just a town with a good community feeling and no real stand out thing you need to go see. It's you need to make plans to go eat around there distance unless your staying somewhere between disney and winter park then it's much more convenient. (also the other 4rivers locations are over in that area so look up what is closest if your doing 4rivers)

updated my first post..don't want to drive far...extended family dinner for 7 adults [3 teens but eat like adults]...under $300 total; reservation preferred so don't wait forever...i thought there might be a long thread on this...i remember one from years ago...just couldn't find it by searching...thanks for help.

that place looks great...maybe my family will go...i just know my folks will want to be closer to SOG.

If you want Disney Springs, try Homecoming. Very good and not too expensive. if you are willing to drive to Celebration, there a few good places there. Columbia is nice with outdoor seating if the weather is good.

The town next to WDW, Celebration, was originally built by Disney and is literally minutes from DS area. We have stayed there and eaten in many restaurants in town. It is a bit more special than a chain along International Drive. Among our favorites:
Town Tavern and Columbia.
There's an ice cream shop for dessert!
Close and very nice... you'll feel like you're on vacation and in Disney, but you're not! Enjoy.

Fudruckers!!! best burguers and shakes! check their website they are located really close to Disney's Springs and there are lots of other options right in the same plaza

We usually stay at Bonnet Creek. Check out the restaurants on 535... Millers Ale House, Red Lobster, Bahama Breeze, Landrys Seafood, Olive Garden, Carrabbas, Joes Crab Sahck, etc..

Also...what about Teppanyaki? Benihana or sometching like that could be fun.

Have a great trip!

Miller's Ale House is always on our list every year. Very family friendly ... reasonable ... wide choice of excellent food.

Also, Texas Roadhouse is a good option. The meals are affordable, atmosphere is fun, & although they don't take reservations they do offer call ahead seating!
