Disney’s MARVELous Super Hero - New You - New Year Celebration – January 2017!!

I'm ready for a super Saturday. Since the theme was heroes for the month, I realized two of three costumes for Princess HM Race Weekend next month were missing the capes! Yes - I sewed capes tonight / the running costumes are all done!

:love:ing those costumes - you look fabulous and so fit and healthy!

Today was a great day for food and exercise. I think seeing the scale go up a bit knocked some motivation back into me. I was under calories today and look forward to getting out and enjoying the sunshine tomorrow!

Glad to hear you had a good day ... hope work is going well and you are settling in.

Her character in her computer game died and that is never a good thing in her eyes.

I can empathise - DD12 was having a fit the other night as her charger wasn't working on her Nintendo 3DS and she hadn't saved her game. But she only got tough love from me told her to get off the tech and get some perspective for rest of the night lol

okay many apologies - super late I know but here are the percentage updates I could find from this week - if I have missed you please let me know.

Hello all its the Weekend yippee!

Can you believe there are now only 10 days left in January??!! Crazy.

Do you have any plans this weekend that are helping you on your healthy journey?

I weighed in this morning and now lost the pound I gained yesterday. Very odd.

QOTD:
I'm going out to enjoy the sunshine and get some exercise in. We are heading out to a fish house tonight and I want some extra calories :)

Not much going on this weekend other than multiple trips to bend over in 9 year old's room to get stuff that needs to be washed which is anything that can go in the washer. So far since we got her up at 1:45 our time ( debated on that because it was nice her not getting into things but figured if we didn't we would never get her to bed tonight) I have washed and dried a load, have a 2nd load in the dryer, and load 3 is in the washer. Trying to be a bit more mindful of what I am eating today. So far I have had a melted cheese sandwich made with white wheat bread, an orange, 3 long celery stalks cut in sticks, a few raisins ( not even a small box full) and am working on the remainder of my 3 carrots cut into sticks and my apple cut into slices with crunchy peanut butter. Though I am trying to eat some without. Dinner is in the slow cooker and is creamed cheese chicken plan is to serve it over rice which will be white. I don't mind brown but can't get the girls to touch it. I might make up some couscous for myself since that can be done fairly quick. I got a 12 minute walk in this morning and I am drinking my fruit infused water though I do have a can of A&W sitting next to me but not open. I want but on the other hand I don't want it.

It is Sunday afternoon for me already! Yesterday we finally got some rain and the temperature has cooled a little - enough that I can do some housework without feeling like I am melting! So I have done a little more gardening today, replaced the battery on my car as it died on me last night at Kmart when picking up DS16 from work .... luckily his manager had jump starter in her car and helped us out to get home! I am cleaning the oven, vacuuming, mopping and generally trying to get ready to start work tomorrow. I plan to do a menu plan and shop for that tomorrow so that it is fresher for the kids heading off to school Tuesday and Wednesday.

Yesterday it was so hot - DS16 was at work lucky him the air con - couldn't stand it any longer so we bought tickets to a movie for when DS16 finished his first shift at 12pm to go to - to have some air-con - we saw The Return of Zander Cage - some of the effects were so pretty obvious - but the boys really like the all the action - I enjoyed it - DD went under protest, she likes to say she doesn't like 'action' movies but enjoys the Superhero movies haha - anyway there were a couple of strong women in the movie who kicked butt and I think she like that :-)

I had a terrible sleep last night - lots of anxiety - thinking it is the vacation coming to an end and knowing that I have backlog reports to write hanging over me when I start tomorrow. Really am going to have to make a good plan to get through that and stay on top of the new work.

These look amazing!!!!

I forgot to post progress - 60%

Not much going on this weekend in the healthy department. It's DHs birthday tomorrow and we are having a small party at our house. So I did burn some calories cleaning today!

I was a little bummed at the scale today (its back to showing no loss for this month) considering I've been so on track with eating and getting moving this month, so I decided to try on some of my "hopeful wish goal" clothes to see where we stand. Those showed me some results! Not much but a little. One dress that wouldn't zip last summer now zips. Barely. I mean it's not ready to leave the house yet but it zips LOL

So that gave me some hope today to keep plugging along -- it's a marathoner not a sprint!

@4Mickeys Happy Birthday! I am sorry for missing to say it on the day, I hope you had a wonderful day and amazing year to follow!

It's little busy lately, I have not read all comments at all. Hope everyone is doing well! I hope next week I have little more time to spare

DD and I went to the market last night to buy ingredients to make up a bunch of meals for her freezer (and a few for mine) to help keep her on her healthy journey during the busy LAST semester of SENIOR year!! WOWZA.... I cannot believe she is finishing college! As of yesterday, she graduates in exactly 4 months! Anyhow, she'll be commuting to Boston M-W-F for her internship and taking classes Tu-Th, AND working in the wet lab.... so she will be crazy busy... this semester will be FLYING by! Anything we can do NOW to help keep life from getting out of control during these busy, busy days will be helpful.

@pjlla what was the cookbook you recommended? any recommendations anyone - cookbooks, blogs etc? Looking for inspiration

I hadn't mentioned a particular cookbook..... just some random recipes from a WW who is kind of pseudo-famous on Instagram and on WW Connect. But have you ever checked out our recipe thread! The WISH weight loss challenges (originally known as the WISH Biggest Loser challenges) has its own recipe thread! It has been neglected lately, especially since the original thread owner has stepped away from our challenges, but I still post there occasionally. I'm planning to add that meatball recipe I mentioned the other day and I'll post a link when I get it there.

That being said.... a few of the cookbooks I really like are from SkinnyTaste, Hungry Girl, and Weight Watchers. Sure, not every recipe is a winner.... and I pick and choose carefully to avoid lots of franken-foods.... but I've found recipes I love in all of those books. Hungry Girl has a newer cookbook (Clean and Healthy??) that is a HUGE improvement over her past recipes that included a lot of what I would consider "junky diet foods". My FAVORITE place to find recipes these days, however, is PINTEREST!

Happy Sunday morning friends! Didn't post results Friday but holding tight to my loss for the month.... so while I'd love to lose a bit more, no complaints at maintaining my 100% for January!

I was hoping to NOT go out today, but DS asked me to bring him a few things yesterday and I forgot to grab some of them.... nothing vital, but I know he'd like me to bring them today.

Today's cooking will include chicken cacciatore, lentil soup, shepherd's pie topped with cauliflower mash, light chicken divan, curried chicken, and a new recipe called chicken and broccoli bubble up (sounds similar to the divan but with biscuit dough included).
Anyhow.... I've got homemade turkey stock simmering on the stove already. Next up I throw the chicken cacciatore ingredients into the crockpot and start dicing up the veggies for the lentil soup, broccoli dishes, and the curried chicken. Then I'll brown the hamburg and cook the cauliflower for the shepherd's pie. That should be the MAJORITY of the prep.

Coffee cup is empty, so time for a refill and to get the crockpot going. I'm the only one awake so far, so I've been trying to be quiet, but time to get this day moving!................P

@HappyGrape While they are not cookbooks for weight loss, I really love the Moosewood cookbooks. They are all vegetarian (however, there are some recipes with fish as well), so heavy on the veggies. My sister has a whole bunch and I have read through a number and gotten a couple on loan. The two that I like the best are "Moosewood Cooks at Home" and "Moosewood Restaurant Favorites". I think if you google Moosewood Restaurant, they even have some recipes on their website as well.

I actually made something out of the restaurant favourites today: Eggplant Mykonos, which is a greek inspired eggplant stew with peppers and tomatoes. I had it with rice and some feta cheese. A really large and filling portion came out to 600 kcal. I have to admit that I cut down on the oil they use, I find that it is easy to use just one tablespoon instead of two.

Since that already covers some of the QOTD: I had a really lovely weekend with lunch with friends yesterday and a fabulous sunny, but cold, run today. Now I am off for tea at my parents. Luckily the Christmas cookies have finally disappeared, so I hope it will be a cookie-free tea time today!

Hello all its the Weekend yippee!

Very happy with how my weekend has gone, health-wise. I got a fresh batch of weekly points on Friday which I quickly used! But, unlike last weekend, I am not negative. So I'm feeling much better about myself compared to last weekend. Yesterday, I went on a crazy decluttering spree around my apartment. Having a bunch of stuff that I wasn't using and was leftover from a previous relationship was really beginning to bother me. I was advised to keep it because I may want it some day. Well it's been 8 months and now I have a much clearer mind and was happy to get rid of those memories. I saved a few pictures but the rest went. I ended up pitching about 15 bags of trash and donated 4 bags of clothes. It feels amazing. So I definitely burned some calories yesterday. And today I'm thinking of hitting the gym for a run.

I got my 12 minutes in completing 15 laps. Half way through 9 year old was up and awake. Amazingly she went and got changed for the day all by herself and then settled down out of my walking path with her ipad. I have to keep reminding myself that chances are I am finally loosing fat and not water weight since even though the scale is down from what my start was it is not at the lowest it has been for the month. I have one of those scales that does additional information but even though I have it set I can't seem to get anything other than pounds. Wondering if those don't register until weight is below a certain number.

Can today be a Woohoo Sunday? I ran (well, walked/ran) the Hot Chocolate 5K in Atlanta today. My last 5K, I ran in over an hour, so my "easy" goal today was under 55 minutes, and my "hard" goal was under 50 minutes. The result? I finished in 48:22! For those keeping score at home, that's a 15:34 min/mile pace, which blows my January 16 min/mile goal out of the water. Here's a goofy picture of me crossing the finish line:

AND, as for my weight loss goal of 10 pounds for the month of January, I'm now down 8.8 pounds since Jan 1st (and 14 pounds overall, as you can see from the ticker in my signature!)--that puts me at 88%!

Hi all!

Awesome job princessbee! I love that pic :)

I haven't been on much, so i have a lot of catching up to do. I'll just update quickly now & read the last couple of pages once I get the kids all down for the night.

This week I'm at 100 percent! No cheats and down just over 3lbs

This coming week, my goal is going to be the same (low carb <20 & -3lbs) but also include daily exercise!!! Finally, My knees have been perfect for several days now so I feel comfortable adding in speed walking, elliptical & heavy (for me) weights. I am loving the -3/wk, if that keeps up I should be at my goal before summer! Can't believe it but I am down 20 pounds since Jan 1 :D

Desperate times call for desperate measures. 9 year old insisted on working on her plush craft panda even though it is dark in my living room ( my lamp died and this house was designed without an overhead light in what they consider the living room side of the front room which also includes a dining room that we have used less than 10 times in 8 years because we eat in the breakfast nook part of the kitchen). After I told her tomorrow she decided to work on it on the dirty floor so I decided to help her do it sitting on my lap. 11 year old came in to watch for a little bit and 9 year old used her favorite word GO to get her sister to leave. 11 year old took 9 year old's ipad which got 9 year old chasing after 11 year old and crying. I tried to get 9 year old to work more on her project but she was not going to calm down. I got desperate and decided to place her in the tub. I know have a happy child soaking in the tub. Plan is when she gets out to get her in her jammies, natural sleep aid taken ( kids with neuro problems of which apraxia is one tend to have problems sleeping) and something to eat. I am thinking I am going to be making waffles and eggs since I know that is something she will eat.
