Looking forward to the 50th

Some may call me an over-planner, but I turned 25 this year and immediately started planning my 30th birthday party. 30 will be my golden birthday, as my birthday is March 30th, which happens to be the year of Disney World's "Golden" 50th Anniversary.

Mostly I started planning this trip 5 years in advance so I could save up the money (using the Disney Vacation Account, which has been a great help so far) and to give any friends and family who want to make the trip with me the chance to save up as well. It probably won't be my NEXT Disney Trip, I'm hoping to visit friends in Florida this year or maybe get to Disneyland for the first time, but it will probably be my biggest trip.

Right now, WDW's 50th is probably what I'm looking forward to most from the Disney Company. I'm an animator and love Disney Animation's movies, but as of right now they haven't announced anything that really excites me - same for Pixar or other Disney films, though I do skeptically anticipate all these live action cartoon remakes, like BatB and Mulan. I'm sure that will change, four and a half years is a while in Hollywood, but for now I'm all about WDW50.

I was wondering if I'm alone here - is anyone else eagerly anticipating the 50th anniversary celebration, and already started planning a trip? What do you want to see? I'm hoping it's whole year, since March is far enough before October that I could miss any big things, but knowing Disney it'll probably start during the 48th anniversary and last until the 52nd. From the sounds of things, Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land will probably open just in time for 50, and there are rumors for a land overhaul in MK too? Either Adventureland or Tomorrowland. The Collector in me also wants to see a Golden Cinderella Collector's Doll, like the Blue Diamond Aurora Disneyland sold for the 60th and the Grand Opening Snow White Shanghai is selling. What are you hoping, four and a half-ish years out, for Disney World's 50th?

If they do it like they just did the DL 60th, nothing will be happening in march and it'll be celebrated over 2 summers and the time inbetween.

I was going to stop heading to disney to save up and come down for it (being here on oct 1 2021) but I decided to go a different direction and moved here instead so I'm just patiently waiting. I know a bunch of peopel on this forum are planning to do a big trip for it, also being here on oct 1.

I went into mk on oct 1 for the 45th. There was a nice little buzz in the air and I enjoyed it. nothing really special but some speeches and a disney can't do anything in the hub without a stage show. 50th will be a whole different story..

i'm also looking forward to epcots 30th anniversary this year.

I'm hoping they do it more like the Millennium Celebration, where the whole year was a celebration, but I realize the millennium is a very different event from a big birthday for the actual park. I also wonder how differences in tourism will effect the time-frame; the Diamond Celebration always seemed more for California locals, and the most I've seen for it outside of the internet is actually now that it's over. The Disney Store in southern NH has a lot of the 60th Park Exclusive merchandise on clearance right now - I keep thinking about picking up the sequin Minnie and Mickey. Where Disney World has a broader, more international appeal, I'm wondering if the celebration will be extended on the front end to be the whole (or majority of) the year of their 50th. At least I'm hoping so, it would be kind of a bust to make a big trip to Disney World only to miss all of the unique celebrations. I was also thinking of going down for October 1st, but not making it a huge trip.

We just returned from WDW on Wednesday. We don't go often, as there are other interests clamoring for our vacation $$ and time, but we've already decided we really want to go for the 50th. Planning to arrive October 1, 2021 and staying at least 10 days. It will just be the two of us this time, no kids, which is something we've only done once before. I'm not sure where we'll be staying. I'd like to try either POFQ or Boardwalk Villas. DH wants to go back to CS.

Planning to be there as well for the 50th.

For those also planning ahead, October 1, 2021 falls on a Friday.

I'm just like you, OP. I am anxiously awaiting the 50th! We also plan on being there over the 1st of October. We have a friend about to enroll in a Master's program, so by the time he has finished that and an internship, this should be the perfect amount of time to celebrate his graduation (he's never been and has an October birthday). I'm glad I'm not the only person out there waiting! We will probably take a few trips in between, but the 50th is really important to me because my very first trip was for the 25th.

HA HA DH and I were just talking about this last week that we need to plan to go for the 50'th. My Chase Disney Visa rewards card should have plenty of reward $'s accrued by then. Here's hoping we'll be able to afford the GF or Poly for that visit.

Us too! We were there on the 45th, we usually go around the same time, so works out we are usually there on the 1st.

We have been talking about taking a break after this next trip maybe go in 2019'and the 2021. Instead of every year.
