HELP!!!! Stressed about Universal Rides!!!

I always thought they were giving the "evil eye" when watching peeps in line for loose articles and bags....

Do know they are watching the fluffy peeps if in question if being able to fit in the ride when latch has to be closed

wilkeliza, did you report this to guest services or a supervisor?

Would be interested in their response to this. Not nice at all.

I didn't. Looking back we probably should have. The person who was really affect by it doesn't like to make a big deal so I have learned to just make the moment better on my own when it is a disappointment and then just move on. We were back later in the week and don't remember it happening again but of course the other person didn't even try that day due to previous experience and just went and grab a butter beer.

I love fluffy........I won't say I'm fat, I'm just fluffy..........:D

Now I think about it, I was asked at RRR too last year, very nicely, if I had tried the test seat.

Totally understand.

It's not nice to be made to feel like that, and making a fuss is usually the last thing people want to do when it's been an embarrassing time for them.

Hope it doesn't happen again if you and your friend ever go back again :)

I took this for my sister who did not believe they had test seats. I'm 5'-3" & weigh 150lbs. My daughter "said" I was in the childs seat! IDK??? Just wanted to post to show what the seat looks like in FJ. I didn't see anyone having any. Problems getting on. 1-26-17IMG_0032.jpg

I am a bit confused about the telling you not to get in line. People not riding go through the line constantly. In May I walked with DH and DD all the way to the sorting hat and then waited for them close to the child swap area. Since the castle tour and the ride line is really basically the same, I don't understand them saying something way out at the test seats.

When I decided to ride the next go round, they just told me to get in the end seat. After that my anxiety was too high for me to say what did or didn't happen but I am guessing it latched correctly. I am 5"5", 240--fluffy in the middle mostly.

I wonder if it was an misunderstanding by that TM still left a blemish on the day to our travel party.

Some TMs (and CMs) can be awful. And especially when they end up pointing out someone's size oh gosh can that change a day and a whole trip. I've watched dh be devastated and it's awful.

First time DS (24 yrs. old; 6' 1 and about 250 lbs. maybe?) wanted to ride Forbidden Journey he got in line right behind me and we walked almost into the greenhouse section when I turned around and he was gone! A TM had pulled him out of line for being too large to fit in the seat! This was in 2011 and there weren't any test seats out front that we could see. And if there were any, he wasn't offered a chance to try one.

He was so embarrassed he was soured on Harry Potter for the rest of the trip. Fast forward to 2014; without losing even an ounce he walked right onto the ride and enjoyed it. Yes, the seats changed but I did see TMs pulling out a woman and in fact, I thought rather rudely.

This is also the ride that the TMs forced me to shove a few small items from my small cross-shoulder bag into all my pockets. I couldn't understand how items in my pockets (without zippers) were allowed when my zippered shut, sturdy cross-shoulder bag, under my zippered fleece wasn't.

A later ride that same trip other TMs said nothing as I walked by with my cross-shoulder bag clearly visible. Just an uneven application of ride policies I guess.

(down from my soap box now)

Generally only a three prong waist pack is allowed as far as I know. You're lucky getting on with a cross bag.

They were crazy. That height and weight he's not that big. I was 5'3" and 220 and I fit in the seats in 2010.

At his height he was skinnier than me relative to our heights.

Yes, the seats changed

From how I understand it, the level of required locking of the restraints changed. The seats are the same.

It's so unfortunate that this is left up to the individual discretion of a team member who may or may not have any tact or sensitivity. I am guessing that, and inadequate instruction, accounts for this. After someone has felt shamed or embarrassed, they are probably very unlikely to go make a complaint. However, I highly suggest if anyone else experiences this to take it up with guest services.
I totally get not wanting to back up the ride right at the point of boarding with people who didn't try the test seats, as that slows things down for everyone. However, nobody pays hundreds of dollars at a vacation destination to be treated rudely and without compassion. My whole family fit fine, but If I even saw this with another guest you bet I'd be complaining. That's not right.

I was asked point blank if id ever ridden before, and when i said yes, then asked which seat id ridden in. When i said the end seat they let me through.

Got a click or two but was told to get off. No assistance offered. The cm then also pulled my father & mother off but left my sister to ride by herself.

My father, who is as thin as a rake (but tall) couldnt believe it and went and complained to another CM about why he was taken off. He was then taken to the test seat, which of course he fit no problem, and then once my sister came off from riding by herself, they were taken to the front of the line and they rode again, which was very nice. That CM was great. The one who took us off not so much.

My mother refused to try the test seat, she felt too embarassed and was quite upset by what happened. not that she is big at all, it was the ordeal that upset her.

I know i have to less another 10-15 ibs before i can ride FJ again. But im using that as motivation for next year!

Wow! Sorry to hear that's happening. I don't have to deal with not fitting but just remember when it comes to the test seats, nobody is paying attention. There is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about.

At FJ that isn't always the case as many have pointed out. It is the only ride that someones has TM there who tell you no. So to some having a TM do it instead of the easy to see lights like all other seats it can be embarrassing.

I understand. I wasnt trying to make light of the situation at all. I was just wanting to reassure those that don't fit that no one is paying attention. I'll check out what the procedure is next month though. That is absolutely ridiculous if people are getting treated the way some are reporting.
