It's A Small World - A Never-ending Pre-trip Report

Great news DisneyLand Paris this month that is exciting!

I can't wait. I could do a with a little Mouse in my life roundabout now.

I am pleased that Graham liked the Dining time and the other two bookings sounded nice.

I am glad that this has been taken care off. Izumi will make an appearance in the next instalment of the trip report.

Don't forget the steriotype hat with corks hanging off it.

I think we will be a bit late for cricket season unfortunately.

Just going over to new TR! Cool.

See you over there.

Your plans sound exciting! Great idea to do something special on the first dinner, that night is definitely chaotic.

The special tour sounds fabulous! I still have yet to do anything like that. They didn't offer one on the PC cruise.

DCL does not do anything like this. I have been lucky enough to do a galley tour and a theater tour over the years. When we tried NCL, they offered a full backstage tour and Royal Caribbean has done so on every cruise we have taken. Up to now, they were silly expensive though.

It sounds like your plans are coming through slowly but surely. I'm sure it's not nearly as confusing as I am thinking but until we take the plunge on an RC Cruise, I'm going to be continually baffled by all the choices on the ships!

I think today is my day to make FP+ for my trip in Feb/Mar, but I'm not really feeling it. I just need some time to relax.

How great that you will be in DLP so soon!

I saw on my TR that you posted about a friend who now works for TA that specializes in Handicapped travelers. I would love to work with this person! I just have no idea when our trip will be. As soon as the old place is cleaned out I think it would be great to start a discussion about what we are looking to accomplish and how we can best do so.

Yes, sometimes I think they could come through a bit quicker, but I am still good and busy.

On most ships it is really straightforward. If you go with the traditional dinner seating, there is really nothing else to do unless you want to do speciality dining. On the three Quantum class ships and Harmony of the Seas, you can book all kinds of different entertainment online, but when we were on the Ovation, I ended up rescheduling a lot while on board with no issue, some of them even multiple times.

I hope that you feel inspired soon.

I am so looking forward to this.

Once your plans get to the concrete planning stage, I can reach out to Jessica on your behalf and get you connected up. When she worked for us, I always knew her as a competent, efficient and caring person. She is also a huge Disney fan. The company she works for is http://www.disabledholidays.com/ who are based right here in Manchester.

With everything that has been going on in my life since the beginning of the year, planning for our upcoming trip has gone on the back-burner. However, with just over two months to go before we leave, the time has come to do something about it.

I have not been completely idle though. I did look at options to re-shop our cruise as soon as I started my new job. It turned out that we were best off sticking with the cruise package we had, but to cancel the flight arrangements and do our own thing. This meant that we are now flying back with Lufthansa via Frankfurt rather than with British Airways via London. I did go for the same British Airways flights outbound, but then got spooked by their cabin crew striking. So I am going to rebook this on Monday and we will fly with Etihad via Abu Dhabi. This has two big advantages. To start off with, we will be flying on an Airbus A380 from Abu Dhabi to Sydney. We will still be on a Boeing 777 from Manchester to Abu Dhabi, but this is a daytime flight and I don't mind it then. We will also leave on the Wednesday morning instead of late afternoon, which means that we arrive in Sydney late afternoon on the Thursday instead of early morning on Friday. This means we can get a good night's sleep and have a full day in Sydney on the Friday. We will use this for a full-day excursion to the Blue Mountains. Our hotel is pretty centrally located so we can still do a bit of sightseeing in Sydney itself before we head to the ship on the Saturday morning.

Now we just have to make up our minds what we want to do in the ports. Isle of Pines and Mystery Island are easy as there is very good snorkelling very close to the tender port. So we will just do this. The other ports require a bit of research, but hopefully we have this taken care of before the month is over.

Good move on changing flights and smashing you got extra time in Sydney before the cruise! Those excursions both sound lovely with snorkeling yes please!

Things are shaping up. I am freaked out by BA strikes also. We are booked with them currently for October. Starting to get nervous.

Looks like good flight options. And Lufthansa finally has a deal with their pilots, so strike has become less likely there.

I don't envy you the long flight to Sydney though.

Sounds like you sorted it out nicely!

Is the Blue Mountains the place with the caves? PIO did a TR on a week she spent in Sydney and I think they spent a few nights in the Blue Mountains.

Someday we will head downunder!

The deed is now done. The BA flights are cancelled and the Etihad flights are booked. I am really happy about the extra time in Sydney.

Snorkeling is my big passion.

Hopefully it will be settled one way or the other by then, but April was just too close for comfort.

Looks like good flight options.

I am pretty pleased with what we have ended up with.

That is good to know.

I don't envy you the long flight to Sydney though.

I am not looking forward to that aspect, but I am pretty used to flying to Dubai and Abu Dhabi takes just a little longer. When we take off again, it will be time for dinner and then I will hopefully sleep for a few hours. Breaking the journey in the Middle East will make this a little easier.

Yes, it is, but we will skip the caves.

Someday we will head downunder!

I have been meaning to go since 1994 and I can't believe that when I am finally going , I will be there for barely 48 hours.

Exciting to have your flights booked! :cool1:

You are going to places I've never even heard of, very fun!

How long will the flight to Sydney be?

Exciting to have your flights booked!

We had flights booked as long as we had the cruise booked, but last week we cancelled the air arrangements through Royal Caribbean and I booked separate flights.

You are going to places I've never even heard of, very fun!

I had not heard of most of them either before we booked this cruise.

How long will the flight to Sydney be?

Including the layover in Abu Dhabi, just short of 24 hours. It is 7 hours 15 minutes to Abu Dhabi and then 14.5 hours from there to Sydney.

Corinna

14.5 hours!!!! Arg! I see why Australians take these long vacations. Once they get away from their continent they need to make good use of it.
