Sunday night while we were at Magic Kingdom we were walking back by the Rapunzel bathroom area and was approached by a very well dressed cast member (most likely middle to upper management) and asked if we could take a couple minutes to try something out. The cast member also three photo pass cast members with him as well. He pulled out a lantern like the ones in the movie and hanging above the bathroom area. Before he handed it off to us he gave us some information about what they were doing

He explained that this was a prototype lantern and it was its first time out. They wanted to due testing with the cameras to see if they need to change the internal lighting and what settings the camera settings need to be. The actual prop was made of an acrylic with a wood structure at the bottom. In all, it probably weighed about 3-5lbs.

we took the fallowing shots with my phone, the photo pass ones didn't turn out as well. IMG_0662.jpg

Is that what that was? I was watching from the side wondering if it was a commerical or something being filmed since it was a castmember holding it when I noticed.

I didn't go up and ask, it was creepy to have bathrooms as the backdrop to me.

I didn't get a good pic from the side but this is what I took.

I think I can forgive them for taking the pictures of a bathroom, the results look amazing.

It looks like they realized they were pointed at both doors and moved to a different angle. I do like the photos seeing them.

This is a photopass shot from Saturday, so they definitely had things figured out by the end of the test. Hopefully they bring it back out - it was very popular (I think I waited about 20 minutes) but it did cause some congestion problems that will need to be worked on, since that's also stroller parking for Fantasyland
