What Are You Reading?

The Bible (on-going daily); the Eragon Omnibus; just finished an book about life during "shut-down" in the Ft. McMurry Oilsands called Bittersweet Sands; Rick Steves' Mediterranean Cruise Ports; yesterday's newspaper and 3 or 4 magazines. Oh, and I'll likely read an on-line article or two today from links in other DIS threads.

Currently:
The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World (2nd Edition) - by Susan Veness (my "downstairs book")
The Vault of Walt - by Jim Korkis (my "upstairs book")
(Can you tell I'm getting excited for a Disney trip?)
and A Year in Provence - by Peter Mayle (my "car book" - for when I'm waiting to pick DS up from things, etc.)

Just Finished:
Beyond Measure - by Vicki Abeles (This a sequel to Race to Nowhere, about what our current education system is doing to our kids, and what some schools are starting to do about it. - I highly recommend it!)

Re-reading Lord of the Rings - I'm halfway through The Two Towers right now. I'm supposed to be reading something for my book club, but 20 pages in and it was too depressing.

I just finished Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. Trying to figure out what to take with me to FL (no, no WDW, sadly) this week.

Just finished Carl Hiaason's latest "Razor Girl". There was quite a waiting list at our library, but now I wonder why. Maybe it's just me, but I wasn't thrilled at all. I kept reading, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. Mom's reading the book based on the Broadway musical "Hamilton" (I think a PP mentioned it). She says it's very interesting.

Just finished Everyone Brave is Forgiven and about to start The Kitchen House.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I've seen the movies a bazillion times, been to Harry Potter lands six times but I had never read the books until this year and I LOVE them
Cannot put them down and can't believe it took me this long!!

Im reading "Gone with the Wind" never read before or seen the movie, its ot what I thought, Im really enjoying the time I get to spend alone with the book

I'd be curious as to your opinion of The Kitchen House. A friend read it and said it was boring-don't waste your time. But this was the same friend who loved "Razor Girl" (my idea of "boring-don't waste your time). So maybe this is the book for me!

Just finished Hillbilly Elegy. JD Vance. Outstanding and insightful.

Best book I read last year, and in many years. A lot of my history is similar to his, and I think the book speaks to the problems in Appalachia and the rust belt in a way nobody else has.

I'm currently reading Benjamin Franklin by Walter Isaacson. Really good so far.

I've started reading Don Quixote. I tried reading it a number of months ago but became distracted with projects. I'm starting over and seeing if I can make it through the book this time.

It's so funny. Someone up thread mentioned that they have an upstairs book, downstairs book and a book to listen to. I do that too!

Right now, my upstairs book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I don't have a downstairs one right now, about to look on my shelves and pick one out.

I'm listening to The Creation of Anne Boleyn: A New Look at England's Most Notorious Queen.

I have been reading books by Rachel Hauck. I found them when I looked at the $2.99 and less books on my Nook. I am now a fan. I read the Wedding Chapel and the Wedding Dress. It is light reading that is nice to wind down with after work. I will definitely download more. I am glad I read this thread as the book about Anne Boleyn sounds interesting. Off to take a look.
