Welcome to WISH-topia! March 2017 WISH Lifestyle/Weight Challenge

Question of the Day - March 23

Nick is feeling pretty snazzy with his sunglasses, police sticker,
and the glow of having just helped solve the missing mammal case.

What makes you feel snazzy?

A certain outfit? A new hair style? A feeling of an accomplishment?
D all of the above? Haha
Having a good hair day definitely is a great START to that "snazzy" feeling! And a nice fitting dress that shows off the slimmer body that I have worked so hard to get/keep, is another thing that I would describe of as "snazzy" in my world. And with THAT in mind, I need to get myself FULLY back on plan this week!! DD's college graduation is coming up in less than 2 months and I have already bought a very fitted dress to wear! It still fits, but I would be much happier in it with 5-7 pounds GONE.

Okay..... NOW I'm getting ready for work!............P

Checking in at 95% - completed 16 running miles and 10 biking miles. Just have to get in 5 running miles this week and I'll hit my goal. Yea!

Did my first 10k on Saturday which went really well and then my daughter and I went to Six Flags on Sunday. It was a great weekend.

- I didn't actually hit her in the face. We planned it ahead of time and she did a great job making it look like I did. Haha

Congratulations on the 10k and that picture is so funny!!!

Yesterday QOTD: Snazzy? I'm definitely a hair and make up girl. Getting a keratin on my hair changed my life-- My hair looks good without much fussing at all-- I love it! Also, bright happy clothes put a spring in my step too!

Today's QOTD: Any and everything in the cat family! :cat: Also, I identify with their sleeping patterns on a deeply personal level.... :rotfl:

So my princess is Tzitza (sounds like pizza with an s sound instead of a p - my silly phonetic take on the Hungarian word for kitty - "cica"). I've had her for about 5.5 years. She is a hot mess, love bug, that loves to lay on her back... strange cat.

Then the little one that lived behind the store, the DH fell in love with, that's now living in our house.... LOL I'm not settled on a name 100%. Still feeling out her personality. I'm torn between Skimble (like Skimbleshanks the railway cat from Cats the musical bc she was from the tracks behind the store) or Erzsi (follow me here: As in Erzsebet Bathory, one of the inspirations for Dracula, because when she looks up you can see her white teeth hanging out like fangs) Haha! She also likes to stick her tongue out like this all the time :-)

Black kitty looks so much like my Mike, even down to the random white hairs on her chest.

The guys sitting behind y'all really add to the picture!

Favorite snacks... candy, cookies, cake, ice cream. But I know I've sung that song before. Lately I've been in to Kettle style Pop Corn as well.

Had a lovely visit/party with the family on Saturday. My little grand-niece is quite an interesting little person: first she looks like a mini-old person, ala Benjamin Button, then she seems to be in a rush to grow up/accomplish things... at 2 months old she already wants to sit upright and does a pretty darn good job holding her head still with minimum help, and they said she won't lie still but wiggles and kicks to move around. It'll be fun to see how much she's grown/changed when we are down there in a couple weeks.

We actually had decent weather most of Saturday, as in no rain and a few sun breaks, but of course I was working in the house on party prep. I was hoping Sunday would be the same so I could get some clean up done outside, but it turned back to wet and cold. I ended up running errands with my Sister, and one of the places we went was a community I lived in as a youngster when I first went out on my own. While there we ate a the marina where my Brother had his sailboat when he was a young wild thing... it was all kind of nostalgic.

We talked more about our upcoming trip: there will be a Dallas day, a Ft Worth day, a Waco day, and a Pawhuska day. Then at lunch yesterday my Sis and I talked about going to a botanical garden to look at native plants, so the last day is going to be a Botanical day. And there will be BBQ - every day. Yesterday FB posted a 1 year memory pic of eating BBQ with my Bro/SIL/Nephew when I was down there last Spring... yummy yummerson.

This weekend was a great weekend. I went to the zoo with my husband and kids on Saturday. It was a bit colder then we thought. Friday we hit like 70 degrees and on Saturday at 11:30 it was only 46. Thankfully we have the rainforest (inside building that has a lot of planets, frogs, snakes (yuck) and other rainforest animals. We went there first and then to the outside zoo part. I bought passes so we will go more often this summer. I am even thinking of taking trips to other zoos that would only be day trips this summer.

Sunday I went to see beauty and the Beast with my daughter and mom. I found out my mom has never seen the movie. I am not sure how because I watched it a lot when I got the VHS as a kid/teenager. She cried. I never thought to warn her of the ending. It was a great movie and would go see it again.

I did not get all my steps in this weekend but will hopefully be back on track this week. I am off of work starting Wednesday so there is no excuse this week.

@pjlla -- Breakfast today was boring. A plain bagel not toasted with butter.

Nutty kind of morning over here.... Got to work and tried to pop on here first thing, and no internet! We just got back on line a few minutes ago. It's been a hairy morning, but we are getting it back together!

I'll get the results posted and a question up in a jiff!

Question of the Day - March 27

I really like @pjlla 's question, so let's talk breakfast!

lucky chomps.jpg

What are you having? What do you enjoy making when you have the time?

(Thanks you, @pjlla for saving the morning! -- and that avocado toast sounds amazing!!!)

QOTD: Breakfast during the week is Starbucks, either an Iced Low Fat Chai or Carmel Macchiato and some sort of pastry... this morning it was a bagel and cream cheese.

But that's all about to change... over the weekend I just didn't feel good at all, and had two restless nights of broken sleep. This morning I was up two more pounds even though I haven't been eating horribly, so I've got to do something to change course. I was thinking that I'd try a 5 day juice cleanse with simple protein for dinner, and almost ordered the juice yesterday. But every time I thought about drinking the green stuff, which is like four of the six bottles per day, I wanted to gag, so instead I'm going to do Whole 30 except for 14 days, not 30. It's no sugar, alcohol, grains, legumes, or dairy... all the things I need to stay away from. There are only 22 days until we head down to Texas, so I'm thinking 14 days will be long enough for my body to clean out and reset, but it also gives me a couple days margin for transition back to fewer restrictions before I find myself faced with all things BBQ.

Tonight I clean out the 'fridge and plan out my shopping list then tomorrow I go to the store and get started. Woohoo... here we go. :crazy2:

What are you having? What do you enjoy making when you have the time?

My usual breakfast during the week is one egg, 2 pieces of bacon and 1/2 an avacado. If I don't feel like making it I won't have anything but coffee.

Breakfast during the week is Starbucks

I was on a Starbucks kick for awhile but started noticing the scale inching up and my skin was getting horrible so I had to stop. I don't do well with a lot of dairy but I'm not ready to convert to almond milk or other substitute. I do like Fairlife milk but that's not an option at Starbucks yet. At home I only drink black coffee but at Starbucks I always want some kind of frappe so now it's only once in awhile.

Tonight I clean out the 'fridge and plan out my shopping list then tomorrow I go to the store and get started. Woohoo... here we go.

The first day of a new diet/eating plan always feels so good! My sister-in-law just gave me her juicer so I'm going to try and add more vegetables to my diet that way. Good luck!

I mostly eat toast every morning. Since I can't eat eggs anymore I will make either waffles or pancakes on the weekends if I have time. I really missing having eggs. i do also eat s'more poptarts if I am in a jam and need to run out the door and I will make cinnamon rolls for the kids every once in awhile and I will have one or two of those.

Since I already had my dinner, I will just post a picture of my breakfast tomorrow morning!

Had a good day so far. Now just need not to snack tonight!

I am so excited for my snack this week. My husband is being awesome today and took the kids to the market. He bought stuff to make homemade salsa. It is the best. I can't wait to get home. He also got steak for later in the week at the market (it has fruit and veggie stands and butchers). He gets the grass fed meats which are so much better then what we can get at the super market.

Happy Monday, everyone!

I went on my walk/jog this morning and my 12 year old daughter asked to join me. Since I get up at 4:30 to get this done, I didn't really think she would follow through, but she did. We had a bit of a snag about a half mile into it though. One of my dogs darted in front of me and sent me sprawling. I landed primarily on my left knee and the palm of my right hand. My knee is a mess and I think I have a small pebble in my palm. We continued on, but I was done at two miles. It's now been about seven hours and I'm feeling pretty sore! Especially my knee. Battle scars! :)

I am drinking a lot more water, as per my goal. Most of the times I'm able to reach my goal without a lot of effort, but some days I have to remind myself to not grab a soda and drink water instead.

Soda is hit and miss. If I had made my goal two sodas a day, I'd be in great shape! But I didn't. So I'm not doing so great on that one!

@Suprize2017 hope your knee and hand heal quickly!! Make sure to get that pebble out quickly to avoid infection!! Falling when running is no fun. I once did a fall very similar to yours and had a big open wound on my knee that needed several stitches and took weeks to heal. Hope your recovery is much quicker! And be safe on future runs!

Thanks! My knee is really just a bad case of road rash, deep enough in a couple places to cause it to bleed, but that's it. It's pretty sore though. Now that I'm home, I have my bandage off and am letting it air out. Hopefully it will start to scab up. I think I'll have my husband dig this little pebble out of my hand when he gets home. It's in my right hand (I'm right handed), so I don't really want to dig around with my left hand. He's an RN, so this kind of thing is right up his alley!

Hello Dearies!

Glad to see everyone still chugging along (even if it’s tough at times!)

This board HATES me, it crashes and lags every time I find 3 seconds to post, so tonight I’m being smart and writing this in word, then cutting/pasting. Hah. Take that lag-monster!

I won’t torture everyone catching up on a zillion QOTDs, but I *have* been reading along on y’all’s progress whenever I get a little time.

School is keeping me busy lately. Spring break, which I had hoped would be a relaxing time I could clean the house, study a lot, and get some “me” time in… well, it wasn’t a total bust, but it wasn’t anywhere near what I was hoping. The kids stayed home sick one day, had an early dismissal another day and a snow day on a third. Ugg!!! I *DID* spend the entire first day sitting around binge-watching TV… which was an actual item on my to-do list, so there, I “accomplished” something. ;P

Friday and today I had back-to-back tests in Chemistry and Anatomy, with a make-up chemistry lab (because again, sick kids… grr…) on Saturday and an assignment for my other (online) science class due on Sunday… so while I maybe SHOULD be doing lab reports right now… NO…. I’m taking a little time to breathe!

I wanted to share something with you guys that I learned this week in my online class. If you want to figure out how much protein you should be consuming, take your weight in kilograms (google “lbs to kg" and a calculator will come up) and multiply that times 0.8grams, and that’s your lower range, then double that and that’s your upper range.

We do diet analysis of our own diets for certain parts of this course, which is actually pretty easy for me since I’m tracking it all in sparkpeople anyway… well, lo-and-behold, I had my protein goals set WAY too low! (Some days I was getting enough by dumb luck, but the minimum number I had set would not be right unless I was 124 lbs. Oops.)

I also realized doing my assignment that my tracking has been sloppy lately. I’m losing weight well enough, but not being careful about the tracking. So this week I am (a)trying to figure out how to almost double my minimum required protein without raising my calories too much and (b)trying to be really diligent about tracking so that I can see where I’m lacking.

Oh, but belated woo-hoo, although the scale tends to yo-you based on what song is playing on the radio and the price of tea at Walmart, I am consistently weighing in below 200 every time, so that’s something.

quick update -
I haven't been very good posting last few months, but I guess things are very repetitive at times in maintenance. I am going away to Spain for the weekend, in California June July and Bulgaria in August. Work is soooo busy all the time and I am doing some new training. All good but never have any spare time!

No big changes in my weight or ways of thinking/viewing eating and exercise. Hope you are all doing well!

Have a super happy and healthy day
