Blue Bayou questions...

Thanks. I think my mother and husband would love it. The rice sounds good, but I'm not big on mushrooms. But I like the idea of the pasta with mixed veggies. Or I could go the unhealthy route and eat mac & cheese like my kiddos. Or we could save it for another trip. I want to try some table service restaurants throughout our AP year. We've only ever had quick service and character buffets.

Wine Country Trattoria in DCA (if you ever go there) has this on their dinner menu and it was amazingly good, bonus being you can get wine with your dinner.

Broccolini Aglio Olio
Choose your Pasta - Campanelle, Spaghetti, or Fettucine lightly tossed with Spinach, Arugula, Tomatoes, Garlic, Chili Flakes, and Olive Oil

Thanks everyone! Our reservation is for 3:30. We'll show up around 3 and hope they can find a nice table for us!

Maybe you can order 2 mushrooms and one mac n cheese and split with DH and/or mil after it gets to your table.

The meal is served with fresh bread to start. You can ask for gluten free.

LOL! My fault. I was asking about the veggie food. But the thread belonged to her. That's a good idea though.

Hi,
I am looking to book BB for our 1st DL trip this summer.

Is the ambiance better at lunch or dinner? or same?
same menu?
Thanks
Kerri

It's the same ambiance, but there are some differences between the lunch and dinner menus. You can look at the menus at Allears: http://allears.net/dlr/dining/menus.htm

I prefer going at lunchtime because I think dining in an "outdoor night time restaurant" seems so much more magical when you exit back into the parks when it's still full daylight outside. It just feels slightly dreamlike that way to me. But I believe the BB only offers the MSEP dinner packages with dinner, so if you're looking at the special parade seating option, you'll need to book a dinner with the special package.

I haven't been to Disney in almost 4 years :( but on our last night in the park I managed to snag us an early dinner seating (5pm), we checked in at about 4:40pm and asked for waterside and the lady was really nice and we were seated by 4:55pm (we didn't mind, the parks closed at 8pm that night and since it was our last night we were pretty Disney Pooped by then and wanted to head out early). I have to warn you sitting waterside you may get hecklers! We had I believe 3 POTC boats of hecklers go by within the 45 minutes/1hour we were there. My DH and I found it amusing but others may not.

Another word of warning if any of your party is a wimp like me when it comes to spice (and really, I should have KNOWN what I was getting myself in to) the Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya is spicy! At least for me it was, and when I say I'm a wimp, I'm a wimp when it comes to spice. So just a heads up! That was a 35 dollar mistake for me.

Curious, what sort of heckling? I'm not worried about being bothered by it, but I would love to have a couple prepared options to fire back with. :teeth:

Start thinking of a witty comeback for "TOSS ME A ROLL!"

I went with, "I paid for these!"

I've heard some heckling from guests on the PotC attraction, but I've just ignored them. They're already being disruptive/rude to the guests dining at the Blue Bayou. I don't see any reason to engage them and (potentially) egg them on and continue to disrupt other diners.

Totally agree -- responding to them just disturbs the guests around you even more. We go to BB every trip, are always seated by the water, and haven't been "heckled" enough for it to bother us or disrupt our meal.

This is true. Aside from my earlier statement, most of the time my daughter just waved at them if they talked to us at all, and they shut up.

Oh no!!
We have a booking on a grad night
I do hope they behave on POTC and don't disrupt the ambience

We have a group of 8 having an early dinner 4:30 at BB. Would they be able to see a party of our size by the water?

Just for warning, I love BB, but I didn't love it with my group of 8. You can barely see the person next to you. You can't see the person at the other end of a table for 8, due to the darkness.

My daughter and I don't like very spicy food but the guys in the family do. My daughter and I found we liked the salmon there because they can make it non spicy if you ask. The other items are pre-seasoned.

I think I remember hearing that they have tables that can seat 6, but if you're wanting to seat 8 near the water, you may be in for a super long wait as they'd have to have a couple tables leave around the same time. I'm not 100% sure they'll do it at all.

For all the times that I've eaten at BB, I haven't experienced all that many boats with guests that are disruptive. It doesn't happen a lot. The Grad Night groups aren't really any worse (to me) than any other day in the parks; you're going to get good groups and less-than-good groups. I wouldn't worry about it. In truth, I've seen more boats with little kids waving at the diners than I have heard hecklers.

Wow, whenever I've dined at Blue Bayou it's been dimly lit, but I wouldn't say it's dark. I've never had any problems being able to see the person next to me or at the next table over. I wonder if that means some areas are darker than others in the restaurant; we're usually at the waterside.
