Are Kong delays a regular event?

Been following my app on wait times as Kong is one of two rides I haven't been on yet. It keeps showing up as a gray "delayed". I assume it's due to a ride malfunction?

Am I better off trying to get on it first thing in the am as opposed to walking over there in the evening and getting on?

I would definitely experience Kong first thing. I do believe that it malfunctions quite often. Just back from a trip and rode it three times. The first time was at park opening just to see the entire queue and had no issues. However, we waited 30-40 minutes in the Express line the other two times...both of which were in the evening.

i went on the ride during its soft launch last year and it went down a lot, but we were eventually able to get on and it was working just fine! since then i haven't had problems with delays, but i wouldn't be surprised if it still went down occasionally since the ride vehicles are pretty finicky. if you see kong open, head for it right away; the wait can get pretty long, even in the express line

I would say first thing, as no offense, but the wait is not worth it. Incredible AA though.

No delays or long waits the day in early May we rode twice in a row. And I looked each time we passed it later in the day and the next day and apparently no delays either. We were pleasantly surprised and both DS and I enjoyed our rides!

We had that experience last year too.........

Only one day out of 18 it had problems for longer than a few minutes.

We always got on quickly using EP, always less than 10 minutes every time, even when regular queue was over an hour, and the time we did the regular queue it was reasonably quick too, no delays.

And if you haven't been on this ride and queue, it's worth doing.

We walked right on at 0900. Was nice to see but I agree with whoever said it's not worth the wait.

That's a shame you didn't enjoy it........

I think it's due to the insane amount of hype is the reason why that some (including myself) didn't enjoy it as much as others. I was expecting much more and something different. However, as I said previously, the animatronic is astounding to me! However, I'm a huge fan of animatronics and have always been fascinated by their history.

If you were going to ride this for the very first time, would you choose a night time ride or a day time ride? going to do the full queue for the first time either way.

I'll repeat what I always say, don't listen to the "driver". Don't put your glasses on until you enter the cave or else you won't be able to make out the things on the right side just inside the door. And take your glasses off to view the animatronic at the end.
