Kim & Bill's Disney Fantasy Cruise Wedding - 10/7/2017

Ms. Mouseketeer...You're so right!!! I need to stay positive and focus on what is and not what isn't. Thanks you!! I got so caught up in what could be that I've set myself up for disappointment. I get to marry my best friend...and the people who choose to be there will be there.

I think its easy to set ourselves up for disappointment but I just wanted to tell you I've been following along and you've got the makings for a beautiful cruise and wedding. Your day will be special no matter what. take the time to celebrate each other and let Disney pamper you!!

I could seriously hug you right now...your kind words do not fall short and have brightened my day. Thank you!! :love1: Your special day will be just as amazing!!

I'm sorry things aren't work out exactly as you hoped they would for the trip, but there's still time for some of those scenarios to work out =) And no matter what, I know you and Bill will have a wonderful trip together and most important part is you'll be together and be married! Yippy!! <3

And I'll be on the cruise with you! So if you need help getting ready I can be your back up =)

Thank you Sarah...I need to let go of the stress and worrying about things I can't control. You're right...the ceremony will be beautiful and the cruise will be so much fun. I'll find you if I need you though. You're so sweet to offer!! Lol!!

When one door closes...another one opens!!

My sister called me yesterday and asked if we could meet and talk about my wedding. She let me know that she and my brother-in-law have been talking about booking the cruise with us. He's not a good flyer and has tremendous anxiety but he expressed to me he doesn't want to miss our special day. I seriously started to cry right there. Not only that, but they want my mom and son to go. So discussed all the financial details and came up with a plan...as of this morning...THEY ARE ALL BOOKED!!!

I am on Cloud 9!!! My family is coming!!!:jumping1:

My mom uses a walker so I booked her an ADA room with the kids. My sister and hubby are directly across the hall in an oceanview room.

Now I need to find out if she will need me to rent her an electric scooter...

Look what came...

I love them so much!!! We bought enough for our cruise guests and reception guests.

I also ordered a bunch of 3" LED lanterns for the reception at home. I may bring a couple to put on the cake table... they are so stinking cute!

The pics above are not mine, they are examples from the site. I had one custom made to include the Fantasy 2017. I just haven't unpacked them all. But they are so cool.

I also bought these...sadly they are silver and not champagne/gold colored like the pic.
Any ideas on modifying them without ruining them? The material is a metallic fabric...I think...and a bit coarse. It's porous so maybe a spray fabric paint? I just don't want to discolor the blue bow.

That's so amazing that your whole family will be joining you!!! I'm sooooo happy for you!!!! Yippy! Yippy! Yippy!!!!!!

The lanterns are amazing!! I love how they are all different. Did you have them specially made for you?

The pins you had made are so adorable! Your guests are going to LOVE them. We're doing pins for our sailing crew too! I just put in the order this week. I can't wait for them to arrive. :-) Isn't it so fun seeing everything come together!?!?!

Your day is going to be amazing!

Thank you, Sarah! I'm so happy my family is able to join us! None of them have sailed Disney and I'm so excited to be part of their adventure. My sister-in-law-to-be booked the all-day Aristracat Charters in Tortola for all 13 of us...it's going to be so much fun!

The lanterns were ordered from 3 different vendors on Etsy...

www.etsy.com/shop/DarlenesTreasureShop
www.etsy.com/shop/YourWishIsMyCreation
www.etsy.com/shop/SimplyxNice

They were all easy to work with. Be sure to read the descriptions because they vary by seller. I think I'm going to bring a couple onboard for décor.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our pins!!! The seller was a joy to work with! Can't wait to see what yours look like!

Oh my gosh...this month has gone by so fast...almost to our 5 month mark! We'll actually be in WDW 5 months from today...eeekkkk!!

Now that everyone has booked the cruise, I have been talking to my guests non-stop about plans, details, itineraries...it can be overwhelming and exciting all at once. My DF and I will be arriving in WDW on the Monday prior to sailing and have booked Animal Kingdom with a Savannah view...I'm seriously super, over-the-moon, excited about this! My family will be arriving on Tuesday and are all staying at the Arts of Animation. We haven't heard when his family will be arriving, yet.

As soon as our window opened up to make restaurant reservations at WDW I started putting in requests. We are going to EPCOT on our first full day. I made reservations for lunch at Coral Reef. I love this restaurant! I'm hoping we get some good pictures with the aquarium...we love anything to do with the ocean and water. We plan on partaking as much of the Food & Wine Festival as possible after lunch...probably more wine than food.... If we finish EPCOT early we have talked about buzzing over to Hollywood Studios for Fantasmic :smickey: but we have both seen it before so it's not a priority. I have to say being from California and having a Disneyland AP I'm seriously missing our Fantasmic...I can't wait for it to come back and I may need a WDW fix. We'll see how the wind blows...

On our second day I made reservation at the Grand Floridian Café for breakfast. While I was researching restaurants and menu choices as soon as I saw lobster eggs benedict I was in!! Yummy!!! After that we will meet the family at Magic Kingdom for a fun filled afternoon...although we decided we are going to split the day up and go back to the hotel for a wine tasting at Jiko that AKL holds only on Wednesday at 3pm...it's 5'oclock somewhere. HEHEHE!! After that we plan to go back to MK.

Were going to Animal Kingdom on our third day. I booked Yak & Yeti, as soon as I saw they serve lobster nachos I was in! Are you sensing a trend...I'm hungry now! Since the park closes at 7pm I booked dinner at California Grill to watch the Mickey's Halloween Party Fireworks.

We decided to meet family who cannot travel with us on the cruise on Friday. We're hoping they will be willing to meet us at our hotel so we made reservations at Sanaa. I haven't eaten here, and I've heard it's pretty amazing to watch the animals roam around while we eat. The other reason for taking the day off from parks is so we can invite my mom to stay with us while my kids and my sister and her family can go to EPCOT and move at a quicker pace. We'll see if mom takes the bait...she has to be pretty pooped by then, right? Lol!!!

I was talking to my Disney Coordinator, Stephanie, about ways to connect with our families while at WDW and make it more memorable. We talked about a Wishes Dessert Party and she gave me the idea about the Sanaa reservation with our guests meeting us at the hotel. I made the reservation with no problem. I also talked to her about making arrangements with our family for a family dinner at MK. I tried to make reservations at Be Our Guest but I was too late. Stephanie said she'd check for availability and sure enough that girl can make magic happen!! LOVE HER!!! We decided not to book the Dessert Party as it is just out of budget right now.

I also asked her about a portrait session on WDW property. Stephanie sent me the price sheet of options, which I was so sure would be completely out of our budget until I saw that there are inexpensive options between $200 and $400 for 30 minute to 1 hour sessions. Hello...we can afford that! So, after looking at the options, we decided we would call Disney Fine Art Studios and check for availability at EPCOT for an Enhanced Portrait session. I honestly had doubts there would be an availability for the date and time we wanted...but sure enough...SCORE!!! We are now scheduled for 9:00am on the day we were already planning to spend at EPCOT :earboy2:.
I suggest you discuss any and all wish items that you can dream up...ask your coordinator!! They are amazing!! :tinker:

Other than that, I have been working on our invitations (pics to come later), we met with our DJ for the return reception, and we scheduled to have someone help with the catering as my DF wants to prep it himself. Ugh...I'm not feeling confident about this decision yet, but I'm being supportive. Send happy thoughts, please.

Thanks for listening and hope I didn't bore y'all too much! princess:

I'm really enjoying reading about your plans! We are getting married about a month after you on the 11/4/17 Fantasy cruise!

Thank you so much and how exciting for you!!! I'm so behind on posts and sometimes feel it's either a bragfest or a pity-party...I'm just hoping it's helpful to future DisBrides. I will try and post an update by the end of the week...so much has happened since my last post!!!

I know reading posts from other DisBrides has helped me immensely!!! I can't believe 4 months from today I marry my best friend and favorite person in this world! Eeeek!!!
:tigger: :jumping2::yay::jumping1::jumping3::jumping2::mickeyjum

Four months my DisBrides and fellow Disney lovers!!! Woot woot!!! I cannot wait to marry my best friend and man of my dreams!! I’m sure he cannot wait for me to stop obsessing over Pinterest, Etsy, and every Disboard post! And…the doorbell ringing with mystery packages left by UPS, FedEx, and USPost…it’s like Christmas every day when I get home.

Let’s see…I left off discussing our WDW plans on my last post. Since then, my oldest son and my DF’s youngest son have decided they would like to join us at WDW. So, after lots of discussion and research, we found them a room at Pop Century. My youngest son, who is a Disneyland castmember, still has not booked his room with his friends and it’s driving me nuts! I have such a problem with procrastination…plus it stresses me out thinking he won’t be there with us if he puts it off too long. Just writing this gives me anxiety…must breathe…the only thing now that makes me feel better is if his friends flake out he can room with the older boys…it will all be okay in the end!

I have been working hard on creating the most amazing, personalized wedding invitations…and I have to admit that I am SOOO over it!!! Don’t get me wrong…I have zero regrets. I’m just over it! They are so time consuming and no one tells you there are so many freaking types of glue…some work poorly with thin paper, some work poorly with thick glitter paper, and some work poorly with ribbon…I have become a glue coinsure. LOL!! And it hasn’t helped that the company I ordered the glitter mats and embellishments from went out of stock for over a month. I purchased replacement stock at Michaels, but they were more expensive at full price so I waited for sales and could only buy a few sheets at a time due to limited stock. I’m praying I can finish them this weekend while my DF is at a men’s retreat. Crossing fingers! Oh…this is another reason why my DF will be happy when this planning stage is over…he has also become a glue coinsure…and he has a Type A me standing over him critiquing his every move. He’s such a good sport and going through this together…the good, the bad, and the sometimes glitter covered ugly…proves we can make it through anything! It’s seriously marriage survival testing at its best!!!

Ok…onto the fun stuff! This is why my DF is looking forward to that doorbell to stop ringing…heeheehee…

I have ordered personalized tote bags and started ordering all the goodies to fill them with. I won’t post pictures until I get them organized but I can say that I’m super happy with my choices. Each cabin will receive a large tote bag with a cruise ship and the family name embroidered on it. Each kid will receive a drawstring knapsack with their first names on it. Each cabin will receive a Disney Yacht-Sea game (it’s super cute!!), matching lanyards with the AquaDuck on them, SPF Cruise chapsticks that fits into a holder that attaches to the lanyard, a Fantasy ship director/deck locator credit card (fits in lanyard holder), a personalized UP themed magic card (it has our names and wedding date inscribed on it) that is used to work the lights in the cabin instead of using our Key to the World Cards, DCL inspired sewing kits (I will probably add a few other things like headache meds, suntan lotion, nail files, wipes, etc.), and a Mickey head bottle opener. I had a difficult time finding the right vendor to create personalized water bottles for everyone. The ones on Ebay and Etsy were fine, but too expensive and not exactly what I wanted for the 13 bottles I needed. I had remembered seeing something on my local city FB page that someone offered starbucks-type personalization. So I searched and found this girl about 5 miles away who could make the perfect cruise pirated themed water bottles. I cannot wait to get them and share with you all! They are adorable!!

I also ordered myself a waterproof bag that will hold my phone and some “I Do” mickey stickers for my wedding shoes (every Disney bride needs some of shoe bling!!!). Oh…and best thing ever…I found the most adorable bling bridal Minnie ears that came with matching Mickey ears!!! I’ll attach a pic of us trying them on. Love them and love my DF so much more for rocking them!!!

Did I mention I bought a new wedding dress in past posts…I can’t remember…sorry if that’s old news but here’s an update…

Anyhoo!! I love…“loved” my Maggie Sottero dress…but it was purchased prior to booking our Disney Cruise and since then I have put on some weight due to health reasons. In the back of my mind I was beginning to resent that dress! It’s so form fitting and doesn’t fit the Disney princess theme I have grown into.
IMG_0148.JPG IMG_0152.JPG IMG_1454.PNG
Without seriously searching but still keeping my options open, I found this dress on a “sell your wedding dress” website for $300. I was like…there’s no way this dress is going to be perfect, but it would give me options, and the $300 included shipping from New York. It’s never been worn, is a Mark Lesley designer gown, and it’s been sitting in a boutique waiting for the perfect princess bride…MEEEEE!!! When it arrived I couldn’t wait to get it out of the box and try it on. Here’s where I’m going to admit I made a major faux pas…I allowed my DF to help me try it on. Here’s why though, I have no regrets…I only had three days to decide if I wanted to keep it or send it back for a full refund. So yes, the DF has seen me in my wedding dress. But…here’s how it will all be alright…I went to a local wedding shop with my sister and my niece about 3 weeks ago for an alteration consultation. I arrived first and the sales ladies were running about 30 minutes behind. I had heard they also sold consignment dresses so I started perusing through my dress sizes. They had other designer dresses like Sottero, and Provonias, and Mori Lee, among many others I can’t remember. I was so overwhelmed and contemplating about my $300 purchased dress…I was a Disney Bride set loose in Cinderella’s royal closet!!! Oh the joy!!! Ok…sorry…I digressed there for a moment…Anyway….my sister and niece arrived and as I was pulling dresses to try on the sales person approached and I filled her in on my story. She suggested I try my dress on first and if I wasn’t happy we’d move on to the racks. Well…let’s just say once I put my $300 dress back on and added a petticoat to it I was Cinderella ready to go to the ball!!! They advised that even though they had many options in their store that I would probably love…this dress fit me so well it barely need alterations. And she stated that if she received this dress to sell, it would be marked up to over $1000. So, ya…I found my dress and never if considered trying on anything else. Oh…and why this fixes my earlier faux pas with my DF…I told him the same story above but fabricated it a bit to lead him to believe I tried on several other dresses and the dress I will be wearing could be any of them. I know…it’s a little white lie we’ll keep between us…it’s for the best…right? Pinky swear, ya all!!! And…I took my “Maggie” dress with me that day and left it on consignment with them. I was sad but I really want her to find her bride…someone needs to wear her with pride. I know I did…

Here are a few pics of my new dress (we’ll call her “Lesley”)…I’m hoping to get some better ones when I go back for my fitting in July.

That’s it for this post…I know it’s quite long, but it has been an eventful month! I’ll try to come back sooner next time, but no promises! LOL!! Happy planning and make everyday magical!!

Wow! Love the dress. :bride:
Looking forward to seeing your goodie bags so I can steal ideas :jumping1: Did you do the light cards yourself?
I've got a million gift cards that I could probably do that with but I'm not super crafty.
I think for water bottles I'm going to order clear tumblers from dollar tree like other brides have and use my friends cricut to cut out Mickey heads

Thank you MM!! I would love to say I could do the water bottles myself...I have friends with cricut machines as well. But I'm so over arts and crafts...I still need to finish the invitations, I'm "assisting" with the creation of cabin door magnets for everyone (I forgot to add that to my list above), and I'm making a small bouquet for our civil ceremony. I'm sure there will be more to dos as we get closer!! Lol!! I can't wait to see all your crafts and imbellishments!!!

I'm really enjoying reading this! I love that you two have been in each other's lives since high school but are just now getting married :sad::sad: wuv, true wuv! this is just so sweet!

like a previous poster said, omg those LED lanterns! so precious. your reception at home will be beautiful! can't wait to see the photos once you're back from the cruise :)

I had a full weekend of crafting...and today I'm feeling like I have a glue hangover...

My friend came over and we finished the Cruise invitations (30 of them) and about one-third of the Home Reception invitations (40 out of 100). I didn't get a picture of the final outcome. I'll have to do that soon...

IMG_3926.JPG

And...I created a silk bouquet for our Civil Ceremony. I had already planned on attaching sea urchins to my Disney floral bouquet, so I painted shells and added some to my silk bouquet...what do you think? I love it!!

IMG_3925.JPG

The handle is kinda cheesy but I'm ok with it...It'll just be for show and the quick port ceremony. If I get inspired I'll redo it with a PVC pipe handle...but right now I'm over crafting for a bit. PHEW!!
