Trying to decide which ship for a Christmas time cruise next year. We have only sailed on the Fantasy so we are ready to try a different ship but don't know which one.

Well, the Dream isn't that much different from the Fantasy (both are Dream class ships).

The Magic is different. Smaller; 2 different dining rooms than the Dream class; better shows; usually longer itineraries than the Dream (a plus in my book).

Magic, unless you LOVE the Dream Itinerary you're looking at...change of pace!

Magic. Tangled is amazing. But then again Dream will have Beauty and the Beast. Pick the longer cruise.

Fantasy;.. Done. Moving on. Try something new.
Dream;... too short of sailings. 3 - 5 days. Also same vessel as Fantasy basically.
Wonder; . option. Check dates and itineraries.
Magic; ... option. Check dates and itineraries

I too, would lean toward the Magic if you are open to said schedule.

But as mentioned. Longer sailing ..... trumps.

Good luck with your decision.

Magic, magic.

Isn't it Magical ?

We've been on the dream twice as it always fit the budget and allowed for a trip to WDW. Now we're booked on the magic out of Miami and will have to skip WDW which makes me a bit sad but we're going to try and make it on a seperate trip later on. If you're not worried about the port your leaving from or budget etc choose the whole new experience and go with the magic you'll have the aqua plunge and other differences as others said the fantasy is pretty much the dream on a different course. We did not regret taking the dream twice but look forward to the new experience on the magic

I don't know the schedules, but the Dream has a few more 'fun' things:
- AquaDuck is much better than AquaDunk
- Dream has the Midship Detective Agency
- Dream has the Skyline bar
- Dream has Remy and Palo, Magic has only Palo
- If you have an inside cabin, Dream has the virtual portholes; Magic has a round mirror

Other than that they're pretty similar.

I think @PrincessShmoo summed it up well as the ships go. Just on that basis, I'd go with the Magic so you can try a different ship. However, I'd probably make the decision based more on itinerary and price.

We sailed on the Magic and loved it, but we loved the Fantasy even more.

Pros of the Dream-class: The Dream-class ships have features the Magic doesn't, such as mini-golf, virtual sports, Aqua Duck, Midship Detective Agency, Remy, Rainforest spa with a view out to sea, on-demand Disney movies in the staterooms, virtual portholes in inside staterooms, etc. If you'd really miss any of those, I'd sail on the Dream. If you're gluten-free, I recommend sailing on a Dream-class ship. I also remember a slight sewagy odor in our Magic cabin bathroom that we never had on the Fantasy. But it was nothing terrible and the scent didn't go into the rest of our cabin or anything. We liked the port at Port Canaveral (Dream) better than the one at the Port of Miami (Magic), and I like the Orlando airport more than the one at Fort Lauderdale. If you're sailing the Dream, it's easy to tack on a few days at WDW.

Pros of the Magic: We liked Animator's Palate better on the Magic than on the Fantasy (though I loved the latter's animation show). My son preferred the Magic's Oceaneer Club & Lab to the one on the Fantasy (the latter was more crowded). We also much preferred the 'Til We Meet Again event on the Magic to the one on the Fantasy. If you're sailing the Magic out of Miami, you might have a stop at Key West, which is reportedly very nice. They're both fine ships. Choose the one that most appeals to you and you'll probably love it.
