The DisFort's Chit Chat Cafe

Very sad tiggerdad. Decisions are so hard. I was afraid yeti was not making it past Labor Day, but he made it for another camping trip. Hugs out to your family. Dixie was the first baby. Good luck.

Tiggerdad I am both laughing and crying for you at the same time. Having gone thru what you can expect with both Pepper and Dixie for the past 14 months. Our special needs child Chester loved to hold the dogs faces in his paws but had a habit of extending his claws he did it with Katie and hurt her so now, every time she sees him she goes after him. That on top of her other antics with her sister Sky.
Where Dixie is concerned my heart goes out to you. Three years ago we thought WookieBear had cancer and i was beside myself. I lived on the Serenity Prayer for days from initial diagnosis thru surgery to final determination that her spleen was turning into a non cancerous fibroid tumor and would be fine. Now I worry and get afraid when I see her having a hard time on the stairs or not eating as much as I think she should. We have had her for 3 more years than we should have but I know the day is coming and I am not ready for that As Lucille says she is not my dog but my daughter we will keep you in our discussions with GUS

There are not a lot of trees at the campground. It has beautiful views of the mountains but no trees. The one benefit is yeti’s tail is pretty clean.
Since Yeti's leg needs so much attention it's good you don't have to groom his tail!

Older baby Dixie is not good. She has been diagnosed with cancer last week. We are unfortunately having to face a heartbreaking decision very shortly.

We've actually had Pepper now for 3 weeks and it was only after we adopted her that we found out about Dixie's illness. She's been with us 17 years this month.
Sorry to hear about Dixie. Hugs to the family, I know how tough this is. Pepper sure is a cutie.

This is yeti trying to get into his crate. He likes it there but can’t quite get in.

Did some scenic driving and visited a few other small towns. Ready to do the 10 mike hike tomorrow with 3000 ft of elevation gain. Twice as much as yesterday. Should be fun. Have had lots of cloud cover but here is from a pull off.

Michael,

Sorry to hear about Dixie. Donna's sister just lost both her dogs last week from cancer. 1 they knew was sick, but the other was a surprise. Pepper looks like fun.

Kris,

The mountain pics are gorgeous. He are a few pics from our weekend. The first is one of the benefits of living in a river town. You drive up the Mississippi River to get to the state park. Beautiful drive.

Melissa,

You may recognize this. Pere Marquette SP.

The camp ground is small, but the sites are big. Electric only sites, but that is fine for a weekend.

There is a very nice lodge built by the CCC in the 1930s. Neat restaurant and hotel rooms.

And then there were these folks near the tent area. They decided setting up camp in the dump station turn around was a good choice. When we left this morning, there was another group right next to the dump. It's not like it was crowded.

Yesterday we went for a 10 mile hike with 3700 ft of gain. We knew it would be long and brutal so we had to start early. We did good hiking by 9 am only issue. Fog, cloud cover, rain. Thankfully we have decent gear but the views for the first three hours were not spectacular. We hit the top of the mountain around 3. It was clear and cold. I did not stay up long. We parked most of the way up at the visitors center, then hiked down, up to a knob, down the knob, back up to the visitors center and then finally the last bit up to the top.

Today we had much better weather. There was fog in the am but since we were on,y hiking 4 miles no need to start so early. The weather was sunny and clear. I got a good pic of the rig. The cabin next to us has a two tier porch and it's a model so got a great pic.

This was yeti when we woke up. That is Mallory's day bed.

Kris nice pic of your rig Love pic of Yeti reminds me of our Katie Front end on level rear another Mallory looks very happy in the grass

Kris pics are great, looks like an awesome spot. The picture of Yeti is funny, dogs will lay down in the strangest places that to us seem uncomfortable.

Michael, new puppy looks like a handful. Bittersweet though with Dixies health. It's never easy, but you know your family has given her a good healthy life.

For some reason I thought Earl of Sandwich was a Disney only thing. Apparently not. Here's one in Tempe, AZ.

DW is working a conference and I tagged along. We are staying in downtown Phoenix but went out for some sight seeing today. She is done with the conference tomorrow afternoon. We plan on heading to Sedona on Saturday and home on Sunday.

Read in the News Yesterday that Alabama experienced a Sonic Boom of unknown origin. Ed were you practicing with your flame tubes without the required permits again or did Tiggerdad come for another lesson and things go sideways

I thought it was Randy pulling out of his driveway heading to Disney.
