I'm pretty sure I've an 8' foot pre lit white/clear bulb tree in storage. The ceilings of the apartment were around 12' high but I got around that by placing the tree on a window seat that was 2' - 3' high. Used to be a natural tree aficionado but got over that whilst dragging the tree from the front of the apt to the back for garbage disposal. Weird vacuuming embedded pine needles from the hardwood floors in August. Also the local cost of fresh trees (75 bucks and up the last time I looked) was annoying me. Slapped some fresh branches around the mantelpiece and within the foyer and the place smelt fine. Placed the still decorated tree in the shower stall of one the bathrooms and wrapped the whole thing in plastic bubble wrap and I was better still the next year;).

One thing I'm glad I bought years ago at Target was a button that the tree lights plugged into for turning the lights on and off. Our 9 ft tree is nestled into the curve of a staircase and turning the lights of and off was difficult without messing with the tree. Now we don't even have to bend over. We just press the button with our feet.
Our 9ft tree came with a foot pedal...love love love it. And we hook our staircase garland into the extension cord we use for the tree so the foot pedal turns off both the tree and the staircase garland (our tree is nestled into the staircase nook like yours) Last year I got a foot pedal on black friday for real cheap and use it for a small tree decoration by the front door. They just make it so easy to quickly turn off the lights :)

My DH made a “tree box” for me that we’d put the tree on effectively making a five foot tree look six feet or a six foot look seven feet. We’d cover the box with the skirt. Not only did it make the tree more impressive looking but it made it much easier to water and put presents underneath. However with our ornament collection growing by at least five per year we’ve had to move on to larger trees to accommodate them.

White! I have always loved non-blinking white lights, and that's what's on my tree. It looks better I think, because of all the colors in the ornaments.

I voted multi (not flashing) because if I had to stick with one choice, that would be it. That was my childhood tree.

But we actually tend to do different things every year here. We have colored, white, and a red/green/white sets. Sometimes we only put up one tree, sometimes we do a real one in the living room and an artificial one in the "dining room" window, sometimes we do a big one downstairs and a mini one upstairs... It all depends on the amount of time, space, and energy I have to devote to decorating each year.

One thing I love is that I started a small photo album after our first Christmas in our first apartment (it's the kind where you just slip one picture in each page) and put a picture of our main tree in it every year. It's so much fun to watch it evolve over time! That first one (right after we graduated from college) was mostly just popcorn strings and candy canes! There were elegant years, babyproof years, kid-made ornament years, and more and more vacation memory ornaments as the years have gone by. It tells quite a story!
Who's cutting onions in here?! What a sweet idea!

We don’t have enough room on our 9 foot tree for all of our ornaments so I’d love to also own a purple tree. The only problem is that I have enough trouble finding the time to put up and take down our 9 foot tree that I’m not sure how I’ll do both.

DS6 is excited because he bought with his allowance money he’d saved up a mini gold tree and lights for it at Target. He placed it in his bedroom and plans to have tree decorating party with some friends during an upcoming play date

Older DD will probably be moving out in the next year or so. I assume she will take her ornaments when she does so that will free up some space. I used to do two trees back when we had a bunch of family coming over for the holidays. I decorated the whole house back then, even the bathrooms. Now I just do the front room, a few things in the family room and put some Christmas salt & pepper shakers on the kitchen table and call it good.

Multicolored for the main tree in the living room. Non-negotiable...lol
This is the tree with all are personalised ornaments we have gotten throughout the years.

The other two trees are clear lights.

Warm white lights, this is the only thing I will not negotiate on with DH for Christmas. I also tie my own bows out of Christmas ribbon that I hang on the tree, and have an eclectic mix of sentimental ornaments. I have never found a tree topper that I liked, so a few years ago I just threw a random Santa hat on top, and have kept up that tradition.

Depends on my mood. Last time we replaced our tree we got a prelit tree that changes from clear to multi with a switch. Blinking is an option, but we never do that.

I used to string all the lights. Went all out, wrapped every single branch. That tree glowed. Loved it. But hated how long it took to do (and undo) every year. So while the tree doesn't glow quite as much, I enjoy the season more, so it's a win.

I picked white/clear because that's what we have now. We used to get a cut tree and I would string it with multi-colored lights. Because of some family allergy issues, we switched a few years ago to an artificial tree with permanent clear lights. Either way is fine with me...

Anybody remember these for silver aluminum trees?

I have my grandmother's aluminum tree from the late 1960's that I put up every few years, but the color wheel broke decades ago. I suppose I can still buy another one somewhere,

I actually had an aluminum tree for a couple of years!

Now I do a tiny one that fits on top of the piano with lots of miniature ornaments and many colorful lights. :santa:
