Has anyone tried the food from Festival of Holidays yet?

Just wondering what’s good (especially those that are counted as snack credits). I saw the Disney Food Blog review but curious as to what others think!

Lol! Your username could’ve been My username. Also Canadian and born in 78.

I initially had lots of enthusiasm to try foods from different countries, but after checking the DFB reviews, oddly enough I am really drawn to the Yukon Kitchen. It’ll be interesting to see their take on our food.

I’m also wondering how long the lineups are. If we have to wait longer than say 20 mins, then I think we’ll only end up getting food from 2-3 booths rather than 6-7 like we were planning.

The easywdw site also has a few booth reviews posted, and the author’s opinions are very honest and funny.

We waited maybe 5 minutes in the Yukon line today. Idk what the actual crowd levels were, but the park seemed pretty full despite the rain (more full than several days in July). We only got some kind of meat pie but it was good - one of our kids is going through a picky phase (some weeks he eats like a horse and then he’ll go a few when he eats almost nothing), and he ate most of it.

Also had egg rolls at the Festival of Holidays stand in China. They were two decent sized, standard pork egg rolls ($4?). There were two parties ahead of me in line, but it moved very quick.

The only we have tried yet was the tamale from the Festival of Three Kings booth, but it was really delicious!

Lol!!! Too funny!!! I was born and raised in Vancouver, so the Canucks takes on a double significance for me. I'm now in Toronto for over 10 year...but still not a Leafs fan! :rolleyes1

I was thinking the same thing!! Especially the maple/gingerbread buche de noel - yum! :) But I have a feeling their lines are going to be long, and as our plan was to visit the Canadian pavilion after our early dinner at Akershus (we're going around WS counterclockwise so we can hit Les Halles before WS opens), I just don't think our kids are going to want to wait 20 mins to get a slice of cake. I really want to try to salmon and tourtiere as well but am worried that (1) it might not be as good as what we can get here and (2) I'll be too full after dinner to eat more!!

Can I ask what time you got there? I heard the lines are ok if you get there when WS and the booths first open, but after that to expect 10+ mins to wait, especially as the booths also serve specialty alcoholic drinks.

Yum! I was thinking of trying the tamale with pork shoulder at Los Posadas (although, easywdw didn't give it a great review...actually I don't think he really had any great reviews of any of the holiday booth offerings, so my expectations are low right now!)

I also greatly enjoyed the tamale at 3 Kings. It wasn't so much the tamale, but the variety and combination of toppings they put on it that made it so delicious. Also a good value for the price, about the size of a small entrée.

I also though the holiday maple mousse roll at Yukon was excellent. To me, it tasted like maple ice cream (but no ice cream in it). Also reasonably priced, unlike the ridiculously expensive desserts at France.

I was very disappointed with the egg rolls in China. They clearly were low quality frozen product, with thick chewy shells and not a very good taste.

Don't feel bad, I'm born and raised in Toronto, and I'm not a leafs fan either. Lifelong Jays fan though. :)

LOL! I had a whole list of things I wanted to try that were NOT from the Holiday Kitchens locations, and when I saw the menus, my “Epcot Must Eat” list doubled! I’m going to have a similar problem. I’ve got a lunchtime Biergarten reservation, and I’m thinking we may be too full from that to try many things. Yukon Kitchen is still top of my list though.

People’s tastes in food can be so subjective. I’m not a picky eater, but we have so many amazing restaurants here in Toronto that may be hard to top. Especially Chinese/Asian cuisines. I think we’ll stay away from those in Epcot. I’ll keep you posted as to what I’ve tried since we will be in Epcot next week.

Exactly! I think Toronto has been spoiled by having great restaurants because of how big and diverse the city is, and growing up in Vancouver, it was so easy to get great Chinese and Japanese food.

I'm most curious about the Morocco booth (but our plan is to do Tangierine for lunch, so not sure if that's going to be overkill), the Feast of 3 kings, Las Posadas, and the Canadian booth, and after seeing the menus and reading the few reviews, I I think Yukon Kitchen is top of my list (which is so not what I was expecting!!).

I love exploring new food, but if it's not going to be very good, then I'd rather save my snack credits for something else. Definitely report back! Have fun on your trip!!

Are we Canadian/Toronto ladies just adventurous?? I am thinking of ditching my full meal plans and just hop to all the great kiosks. Reminds me of a second Food and Wine Festival, which I love.

This thread got moved to the Restaurant page (oops!), but I almost thought it was going to be move to the Canadian page! :rotfl2:

But I am still very curious about how the food is and how bad the waits are!

Maybe 1 pm? It was after our late morning fast passes but before we grabbed late lunch

We were there today and I didn't wait more than a few minutes in any line. We tried the following...

Mexico- chalupa and tamale (both good but the chalupa was my favorite thing I ate all day)

Germany- cheese plate and cheese fondue ( fondue was awful threw the whole thing away)

France- some turkey with sweet potato purée... it was pretty good too

That’s so sad as I was looking forward to the fondue! What was so wrong with it? It’s pretty hard to mess up melted cheese but they obviously did!

Also, easywdw has done a bunch of blogs recently on the different kiosks, if you are interested in taking a look there.

So disappointing about the fondue it was on our list of must tries.

It was just kind of bitter the vegetables with it weren't great either. The zucchini was overcooked and potatoes were undercooked. I'm not a picky eater at all but I just didn't like it.

F&W just ended - what do they just shuffle a few booths around, change a few signs, add a new sauce or two ....

We just had the rice bowl with Mongolian beef, egg rolls, and the Mango wine from China !
We had to ask for the brand of the wine ---- need a bottle of it !!
