In the past I have always booked my family's trips through a travel agent. For our upcoming 2018 trip I was able to get cheaper tickets through my wife's company, so I booked tickets, resort, flight a la carte through various agencies. We will spend 4 days at Universal and the following 6 days at WDW.

Does anybody have advice on travel insurance? (I am particularly concerned about flight delays during Winter.) Can I apply WDW travel insurance to a split stay that begins at Universal? I have had little success researching this issue. Who provides such insurance? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm not sure about the WDW insurance and what it covers but if you are looking for an outside vendor for coverage you can try Travelguard. I've used them a few times in the past.

You only need to insure the trip costs that would not be covered by WDW insurance. Likewise, if any of your trip components are refundable, they dont need to be insured. We always cover our trips and cruises with Generali Global Assistance (used to be CSA). Their website www.generalitravelinsurance.com has alot of detail but if you have specific questions, their Customer Service is good.

We had a trip planned last September right when Irma hit &, thankfully, I’d insured our trip using Travelguard. They were very easy to work with...I did have to provide a lot of documentation proving the claim & why we canceled the trip...but we got a full refund without too much trouble.
I would definitely recommend that company & will use them again myself.

We planned one year ahead for a 2017 fabulous grandparents and 2 grand kids 13 and 12 and purchased Disney Travel Insurance . About a month before trip grandson had emergency surgery on an unknown hip "Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE). He was on crutches with NO weight bearing for a long time and only released to full activity 6 months later. Dr said absolutely No Disney trip in August.

The Disney insurance was perfect. They cancelled the trip with no penalty refunded all $$ we had paid as we had sent final payment already. Refunded the airline ticket $$ plus deleted the cancellation fee.

We didn't lose any money but did have very sad grand kids and grandparents.
