Your whine of the day...

My whine of the day... The young woman who rear-ended my car yesterday while texting with one hand and somehow eating a Chipotle burrito in the other hand. I was also afraid that once I saw that she was driving a pretty beat up 2004 Neon, she wouldn't have auto insurance. Sure enough, she didn't. Now I have to pay the $500 deductible on my car to get it fixed and hope to recover it later.
Sorry about your car getting hit :(

You might freak out then when you see my 2002 Ford Escort ZX2..it even has a ragged car bra that came with it when I bought it in 2005 though it's only got a tiny tiny bit of rust you can tell the car has been around for a while--it is after all a 15 year old car at this point. I assure you however I have insurance on my vehicle :) appearances can be deceiving.

Also when I got was rearended (it's been 7 years though since this happened) I chose to go through my insurance even though it wasn't my fault. I paid my $500 deductible and my insurance company subrogated and got me my money back thankfully. But the awesome thing was my car was fixed and out of the shop before the At-Fault person's insurance company even contacted me formally. I'm glad in my case that I went through my insurance.

We haven’t ordered pizza in about two years because the last time we did I literally felt like I was going to die. I wasn’t barfing or anything, just felt gross all over.

For a few weeks I’ve really, really been craving pizza. I’ve made it from scratch a few times but it’s just not the same. Tonight I decided to give in and order pizza. We got it from a different place and I was feeling hopeful. Nope, it’s been about two hours since we ate and I feel like I have a brick in my stomach.

I don’t have celiac or anything because I can eat bread and my home made pizza with no issues. I don’t get sauce so it’s not that. I know what an allergy to something feels like and this isn’t it.

I guess I’m just not meant to eat crappy pizza lol

Cheap pizza is the WORST! My DS has retained a love of Little Caesar's from his jr. high days and we have it once in a while (why do I do this to myself??). We decided to "upgrade" last night and ordered Pizza Hut - it was similarly disgusting. :crazy2:

Find a great mom and pop pizza place. Less than a block away from me is a Little Cesars, Dominos, and a family owned pizza place. The family owned is more expensive, but soo worth it!

The TV finally arrived yesterday after dark despite being on the delivery truck since 6:47 AM; the depot is about a mile from here.
It is now out of the boxes, feet attached but needs a new connector.
Guess it won't get hooked up until tomorrow.

I've had that happen a few times usually UPS. Out for delivery around 8-9am and actually gets delivered around 6-7pm. I've had a delivery also right before the cutoff time.

Makes me wonder with yours and the depot being a mile from your house if you were one of the last stops for the day so they could end up close to the depot at the end.

That sucks about the new connector.

Well, the package to my son was finally delivered yesterday, so 2 days turned into 5 days for his. The funny part is that they aren't home...they were in town here for the weekend. I could have saved myself the shipping costs and had it to them sooner if I never even mailed it. The one to my daughter has finally made it to Buffalo. Maybe it will be delivered tomorrow???

My petty whine? The Clinique I ordered for myself (I was out of lotion and mascara) was tossed by my husband in the pile of Christmas gifts that I had ordered. Once I noticed the delivery email, I panicked for 15 mins thinking the post office had lost my package because I never saw it was delivered. It had apparently been in the pile for at least 2 days and I've been walking around looking more tired than usual because I was out of mascara.

Kimblebee, give Niakwa Pizza a try. We love it. It’s a thin crust and our go to pizza whenever we order. Also, we like thin crust frozen pizzas like Dr Oetker Mama de Casa, or their single serving mini pizzas (Giuseppe’s). I just add some more toppings such as salami, mushrooms and shredded mozzarella, sometimes diced onion and red pepper. It’s very inexpensive and a good substitute for Niakwa.

My daughter has head lice - AGAIN. This is the second time this year. The first time I called the teacher and the school nurse and let them know that she had it, and instead of checking all the kids to see if anyone else had it or sending out an announcement so that parents could be vigilant, they only checked my daughter (and declared her lice-free, of course, because I'd combed and combed and combed and gotten it all out. I'm meticulous.).

This time she has gotten it again, and we found out from some other parents that at least two other kids had it in the class last week. Still no e-mail, still no class lice check. I've emailed both the teacher and the nurse asking them to please, please check all the kids and find out who is bringing it into the classroom and tell their parents so they can be treated, but I have a feeling nothing will happen. My daughter doesn't go to childcare or anything so I'm 90% sure she's picking it up in class, so I'm afraid this is going to be a cycle that lasts a long time. :(

My sister is dealing with lice this weekend, too. Obsessively cleaning and washing and nit picking. Seems she's getting them under control. Tea tree oil in the shampoo, coconut conditioner, fine metal comb.

Been there done that. What. A. Pain. In the. Hiney!

Dd 16 spritzes her hair with water with drops of tea tree oil in it as a preventative.

Thank you for the suggestion. I can’t eat frozen pizza because it has sauce on it. I can eat gallons of ketchup no problem so I don’t know what it is about pizza sauce that has me reeling. I know there’s seasonings in it but probably nothing I don’t use in my daily cooking.

My dd's college text books that we rented are due 12/22. Her last final is 12/19 and she would like to have the books up until that point. I have all the paperwork for sending the books back plus the box here at home since I thought we'd have more time than 3 days to get the books back. Esp. since it being Christmas and all I'm afraid of not getting the books back on time and they already sent me what the charges would be if the books were late. Luckily I'm prob going to her school on the 15th to pick up some stuff that she needs to bring home (I've already complained about this on another thread but she has to move out of her dorm (meaning everything comes home) over winter break because her room will house the winter break students). She thinks she can do without the books that are due. Also, I think she only rented one book from her school and that one is also due before school ends. I don't really get that. I know she has at least one other book that she rented from a third place but hasn't gotten a notice from them yet. That one is prob. due too - lol

If you can eat home-made, I suspect it's the grease on take-out pizza that upsets your stomach. Try patting what you can off with a paper towel.

Also, do you use olive oil when you cook? They may be brushing the crust with that since you're ordering no sauce.

That sucks! Somehow, "the powers that be" have decided that lice aren't enough of a problem to deal with, and (as an occasional substitute teacher) it drives me nuts, too!

I second the tea tree oil, braid her hair if it's long, and hairspray - supposedly, they don't like "product" in hair.

We've actually been doing all of those things since the first time she got them, because I suspected that someone in the class would reinfect (or continue to infect) since the nurse didn't check. She's using tea tree shampoo, tea tree leave-in conditioner, and I use hairspray every day. I've also been washing her coat every few days (they hang their coats on the wall on hooks, so I was worried they were coming from the coat next to hers) and we told her she was allowed to sit in the "comfy chair" the teacher has in the classroom. But no luck. :(

I hate lice with a passion. We already received an email that it was gong around the 1st/2nd grade wing at school. Thankfully we were spared. A few years ago all 4 kids had it. I'm pretty sure that the girls picked it up at summer camp, as one of the cabin groups had a whole infestation the week before and we weren't notified about it until after we had attended camp. I spent the next three months battling lice as just when we got rid of it a notice from school would come home that someone had it (not my kids...those you receive direct contact over). Oldest DD had hair past her butt and it's incredibly thick, I easily spent an hour at a time with the tiny comb going through it twice a day. Tea tree oil in the shampoo and Licefreee Spray! were what we used to combat it.

Yikes - the "comfy chair" should already have been removed from the room! Good thinking suspecting the coat, too. - Can you send her with a trash bag to put her coat in and hang that on the hook?

It's Monday and I don't have enough coffee. My contacts are bugging me and I might have to switch to my glasses.

Sympathy there, too! - I often end up switching to my glasses in the evenings, because my contacts get really dry after a long day.

And here's a BIG cup of coffee from Pinterest:
