Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

My party was not nearly as good, but we did have a snow day here in atlanta. I did get to celebrate with cake.

Now please take your Chicago weather back to Chicago! I am running on the TM tomorrow because my blood has thinned.
What kind of awesomely marvelous creation is that!?!? Although, whereas roxymama's birthday cake had no calories, that one looks like it has ALL the calories...

Happy birthday by the way to the lady of the thread, and what an awesome result for your 5k race!

the cake came from Amorette's Patisserie at Disney Springs. My cake too had no calories for me :D

Ok, so that cake looks amazing! I popped my head into that patiserrie at Disney Springs briefly on our last trip but I was in the hunt for something savory at that point and landed at the poutine booth. We got the original kind and the italian meaty sauce kind. Now I regret not saving some room for dessert that day.

Thanks for referring to me as the "lady" of the thread. Especially because I am technically an actual Lady. I was gifted a 1 ft parcel of noble land by hubby a few years back for Christmas and it came with an official noble title. Kind of the British version of having a star named after you.

Mid-week update: Making yourself run during the winter on your normal night off is hard. I'm going to have to be a mental warrior to get myself motivated to run 5 days vs 4 days now. Please everyone shoot "GO RUN" vibes into the universe for me on all future Wed and Thur nights so that I can get motivated until it becomes more routine.
Next up is new "fun" Tempo run format...stay tuned for thoughts on how it goes :)

GO RUN! You've got this!

:thumbsup2 If we could just photoshop in "Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, Coffee" on his sweatshirt then it would be perfect!

Fun treadmill side-story that you did not ask for:
I have several random vloggers that I follow and watch every once in awhile when I remember they exist. One couple is Simon and Martina who live overseas but travel often and they eat a ton of food. So on the treadmill I decide since it's easy miles I will just watch whatever their latest vlog is. And it's just the two of them sitting in Italy eating every kind of meat and cheese you can find from a local butcher. And holding it up to the screen and talking about each one. And the guy next to me (because it's january and so now I always have someone next to me...ugh...people...give me space) he keeps kind of looking over. I don't know if he thinks its totally weird or really awesome that I am running while essentially torturing myself with meats and cheeses.
I came home and told roxyhubby that for his birthday I am going to go buy him a bunch of prosciutto and goat cheese...and then eat it all...
And now I'm starving and it's only 10:52 central time and I have a sad lean cuisine with NO MEAT IN IT!!!

End Scene

I feel like I just read a great tragedy. Watching prosciutto and cheese but not having any to eat. We keep very few things in the house but prosciutto and cheese are musts.

Haha, so tragic! I'm a masochist.

I do not watch anything for my tempo...I don't like how much my eye-line moves up and down when I'm going a little harder. So I mostly just watch Shark-tank, HGTV or stare off into space while listening to music. I'm tired of the new Taylor as I listened to beginning of that new album now for several runs and I need new music.
I HOPE I CAN RUN MY EASY AND LONG RUN OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's nearing 50 degrees this weekend...I will run in rain so help me!

Ack, just realized I forgot to update Strave AGAIN...I'm so bad at this remembering this. Adding this to my New years resolutions belatedly...keep better track of my runs!!!

Signs that it's 40 degrees in Chicago
1) the car wash line is a mile long
2) your kiddo is riding her bike outside without her big puffy coat on
3) but also getting in a snowball fight with roxyhubby
4) I'm not going to the gym today, heck no...outside running for me!!!

Unrelated: roxyhubby is doing his first of three indoor triathlons tomorrow so think good thoughts for him :)

Isn't it lovely? 43 degrees and sunny felt downright balmy. I took the kids skiing and we were all sweating! I hope we are done with the ridiculous, super frigid temps.

Funny how cold this temp felt in the Fall and now it's like PERFECT!

We want to take kiddo skiing on a very small bunny hill place in a couple weeks. She's never skied but I have a feeling she'd like it. Where do you go skiing? Hubby used to always go to powderhorn.

We go to Cannonsburg, which is a local ski hill about 10 minutes from our house. They get discounted club cards through their school ski clubs. Next year I might take them up to the Traverse City area where they have bigger "mountains".

Roxykiddo would probably love it.:thumbsup2

Go @roxyhubby!

Also ... we're having similar good weather here. No snowball fights (our snow is mostly melted), but I probably didn't need my winter coat today. I like this weather. Can we keep it?

Having a local ski hill would be a dream. I googled your hill and looks like you are north of Holland? Roxymamasmama used to take us there when we were little during the summer. Ah memories :)

You can keep the weather if you let us borrow it a few times this winter. NY has had it's fair share of super snowstorms lately.
Also a snowman was built in our yard today. He was mostly brown and his head melted off.

Roxyhubby came in 11th is his indoor triathlon division!

And now for some vague-boarding...
Gonna just list some running related things that I need to tell myself tonight while getting ready for a non-running related life challenge. Feel free to add your own, even though you may have no idea what the heck I'm even typing about.

Here goes:
Stop being afraid. Be excited about possibilities of what could happen.
There's no need to think you can't if you haven't even tried yet.
You may surprise yourself if you just take a chance.
There's no failing, only experience gaining.
You've been training for this, trust the training.
Don't sell yourself short or hit walls that aren't there.
You may be able to do more than you thought, only one way to find out.
Maybe don't eat a lot of cheese tonight.
And finally...Don't count yourself out!

It's my off night but I gotta go buy a new suit tonight. Stay tuned for a real week #2 training update tomorrow.
