Gulf State Park Dismeet 2018: Sand, Sun, and Puzzles...

Well lets see, for the packing list to the Gulf. Make sure Dis sign is packed, Mickey lamp, griddle. Do we need any big stock pots ?? I have several and if needed will pack one.

Michael our travel dates are may 24 to June 2. However there is a distinct possibility I will have to change them because of work. Kind of holding out hope for the moment to see if we can hang on but not sure.

Randy has a pretty good sized one, big enough for anything we have ever cooked. I got a 80 quart one that I'll probably bring along just in case.

Hope those plans aren't changing. My changes were unfortunate but I'm gonna make the most out of it. Coming back down in October means smaller crowds and we'll venture out more on that trip.

Since I have room in the toy hauler, I'm bring a stand up smoker, and my big outdoor burner and pot, never know what we might try to smoke or boil, shrimp, crawfish, etc, but there are some good local restaurants around too, can' wait for Gulf Island Grill! I just hope the darn yellow flies aren't bad this year, especially for Mrs. Tiggerdad sake.

Hope the yellow flies are not bad either, I don't like them in my sake. Glad I am not the only one who likes Japanese rice wine. Seriously, hope they are not bad, since some have allergic reactions.

I got a new 12x12 screened in canopy for this year. (Those of you who remember last year, my 10x10 got turned into a pretzel by a storm front Memorial Day evening).

It should give us a break from the flies. Randy, I got that generic screen from my 10x10 last year if you need it to use with your canopy it should work. Just let me know. I'll be bringing the Holland Grill again this year.

We will have both our 10x10 and a 10x12 with us should we need to block out more of the sun than our rigs already do. Hopefully we will not need them for rain protection.

On your site, you shouldn't. You got a good one as far as shade goes.

Puzzle looks cool, Randy.

The eagle nest would be a cool thing to see. My DW was upset after seeing your pix of the bobcat on the bike trail and tiggerdad's gator in the lake across from his site. An eagle might be a nice way to get her mind at ease for this upcoming visit.

Maybe she's forgotten those scary things from last year by now...

And some things (like my screwups) she still has perfect recall on them decades later.

You remind her about those coyotes I saw that time on the middle beach?

I think I brought that up on our first meet in 2015. I remember you kicked me, but I didn't know if it was the coyotes, or me showing you that snake that was living under my outdoor rug the whole time I was there. My memory is foggy too...

Guess that means I can pack the camera, maybe get a nice shot or two of the eagles or whatever other wildlife will be wandering our way.

Lots of wildlife. Lots of rabbits, birds, mild number of squirrels in our neighborhood where the trees are, gators, snakes, and yellow flies.

Plenty to take pictures of.

Well DW would be fine without the snakes, the rest of the wildlife, ok.

I was in the area and did my first ever walk thru at Owa. Nothing much was open. The amusement portion is only open limited hours on weekends for now. They have some cool places with crazy food options like donut cheeseburgers. Here is the prices for the Park (amusement part). They do offer an AP option around $80 that is not listed.
