DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Hello gents, trying to catch up after being preoccupied for a few days.
Good luck to some. Hopes for speedy recoveries to others.

I had a long weekend, kept busy painting the living room and watching the Olympics. Enjoying the games, but wondering what's happened to our Canadian curlers, especially the women. Seems likely they won't even make the playoffs. Darcy might know better, but I think Canada has had a curling medal in every one so far. It will be a bit of a shock if they don't make it though.

In other news, some of you may remember oldest DD (well, step-DD but that's just too silly to type out all the time and she's been "mine" since she was 3, so...) got the female lead role in their high school production of Footloose, which was supposed to go ahead this week. Well, last Thursday the male lead broke his leg. Not in the show business good luck sense, but in the get surgery and cast sense. It made the local news (article below). But the good thing is that they are delaying the show long enough for him to recover (somewhat) and still put it off. DD was pretty devastated last week thinking the show may be cancelled after a lot of hard work, but they are going to try making a go of it later in March.

Yup medals at every Olympics except 1924.

Glad your DD still gets to perform. Going to post some video?

:sad2: What in the heck is going on??? Pretty shocked, actually.

I'm not. Both rinks seems to be really good or really bad. Neither act like the friendliest teams, I have some friends that have curled against the Holman rink and they said they are not very nice.

Men's curling beat Canada!!!

I think the idea is admirable, but not sure if it will change anything..
.

Not sure it is admirable. Enforcing existing laws and funding security at schools would be more productive than trying to pass legislation to change gun ownership.

Having a great time at da world, but hasn't left much time to get on here. Will have a lot of catching up to do when we get back. Would post pictures as someone asked, but the pictures are too big and my photo editing software is at home. I promise, there will be pictures on my TR when I get back.
Got my "written" offer letter in email today, so good to have a new job once I get back. Outstanding benefits (including vacation time), so guess I won't retire just yet.

Upgraded to annual passes, so planning a return trip already with additional vacation time and APs working together in harmony. :yay:

Really! Interesting.

Hmmm... no politics, so.... I'll just say did you mean "productive" or "possible"?

:rolleyes1

Good morning, all (or good afternoon, Dan)!

I've been stuck in a mind-numbing work conference the last two days questioning my existence. Was offering people money to pull the fire alarm near the end.

Nice to see. Nice to see Vegas doing well too, great story.

It's shocking to see an expansion team doing so well right out of the gate. The GM deserves Executive of the Year, I think.

Took dd driving. She spun the tires at a dead stop. Front wheel drive Aztek. Almost hit the garage pulling in the driveway. I've been working on nicknames - lead foot and Mario kart were considered. I may go with Bandit.

Dozer sounded good, too. My daughter just started driving and is absolutely petrified every time we go out. Not sure how long it will take for her to get used to it.

"Hot-Rod Hayden" has a certain alliterative ring to it.....:car:

::yes:::thumbsup2

Bring the car in to be repaired (My kid hits things moving out of the garage. Hasn’t spun the wheels yet.) and then interview for a supervisor position at work.

How did it go?

I really hate having to leave DaWorld

So say we all.

Well, I can't think of a much better week than that!

Morning All.

Wet and foggy here right now but we had about 4 hours of freezing rain over-night. All but the main roads were impassable this morning so that led to another day off for DW and DS. The kicker is this afternoon it is supposed to warm up to 15C (about 60F).

Still watching the Olympics but this time difference is kicking my but.

Have a good one all.

Morning, folks.

Was offering people money to pull the fire alarm near the end

Any takers?

My daughter just started driving and is absolutely petrified every time we go out.

I wonder... is that better or worse than over confidence?

How did it go?

Not sure. Because of the surgery, I was home during the entire period I could have boned up on some things. As a result, I missed a couple key questions. We’ll see by next week.

Heat wave! Holy crap!
Sucks about the ice though.

Morning guys. Tough loss for the US Men's team last night. Losing a shootout 1-0 must suck. Big one tonight will be cheering hard for the Women's team. For today... Canadians are just a bunch of maple syrup garglers.

Like that one.

I like how they said if he has to do it in a wheelchair, he will. Good story and glad DD will be able to do the role.

Sorry way behind so hope all are well and thoughts and prayers to those impacted by the senseless school shooting in Fla (I know I'm late). Saw that Norm is disappointed in lack of pictures from last weeks trip, posted a couple on the other place, not many pics taken but here's 4 parks in 2 days with the better half. Have a good one guys, and is it July yet? I really hate having to leave DaWorld

Nice pics. Looks like you guys had a great time.

I'm not. Both rinks seems to be really good or really bad. Neither act like the friendliest teams, I have some friends that have curled against the Holman rink and they said they are not very nice.

From what I've read, the women's team is earning a bad reputation.

Congrats on the offer letter. Hope you continue to have a blast.

I hate those and would bang my head on the table.

Not sure. Because of the surgery, I was home during the entire period I could have boned up on some things. As a result, I missed a couple key questions. We’ll see by next week.

Fingers are crossed.

Interesting, but not that surprising. When she's playing she often has a face like a boiled boot.

Men's curling beat Canada!!!
Yeah, I don't know what's going on with the curling. Canadian women are out of the playoffs now.

Big one tonight will be cheering hard for the Women's team. For today... Canadians are just a bunch of maple syrup garglers.
:p May the best team win. I can't expect it being as exciting as the last gold medal game in Sochi. I'm tempted, but I won't be staying up that late to find out, I'll have to read about it in the morning.

Wow, the US Women's won the gold in cross country skiing? A sign of the apocalypse.

If the early round game is any indication, Canada should win. I'm going to try to watch the game.

That was a close game! So far Canada has won the Olympic golds while the US win the World Championships each year.

That's better. Try to get them posted during the trip next time. :lmao:

Evening/Afternoon boys from a chilly London. Took the kids to the dentist today, and happy to say all three of their teeth are fine in both of them. So keep on brushing once a week. Whether they need it or not.

I've been stuck in a mind-numbing work conference the last two days questioning my existence.
Yeah, I really don't miss those. I got in trouble for one of those when I face booked requesting 2 pencils so I could shove them up my nose and slam my head on the desk. I forgot that i was Facebook friends with one of the training team.......

Thats a nice thing to do for the production. I did do a double take when I read the names though, I was thinking "I don't remember Jeff mentioning a DS....."
not many pics taken but here's 4 parks in 2 days with the better half.
Nice one. And she definitely is your better half.
I think the idea is admirable, but not sure if it will change anything...
Agreed. The intent is noble.

Congrats mate, enjoy the rest of your vacation and the AP.
We’ll see by next week.
Fingers crossed mate, here's hoping. How's the DD getting on?
A sign of the apocalypse.
No, Team GB winning more than 5 medals is when you should go and find the one you never got hold of when you were younger and go bananas, for that is truly when the end of the world is nigh.
When she's playing she often has a face like a boiled boot.
She speaks very highly of you mate......;)

Have a good evening chaps.

Jealousy will get you nowhere.
We have real beer here too. You should come up and try that.

Good luck.

Thanks! Went..... sorta okay.

Fingers are crossed.

Thanks again.

:sad2: Someone mentioned the apocalypse?

Fingers crossed mate, here's hoping. How's the DD getting on?

Better. She was up and mobile yesterday and that put a huge smile on my face. Her parents have been pretty much on pins and needles last few days.

Leftover lemon chicken tonight. Ran around a lot today so do not want to cook. Nice day to run around though.

I felt Canada was in control in the earlier game but the US did win the World.

You never expect the apocalypse. Or is that the Spanish Inquisition?

I drink crap beers so that isn't an incentive.

I can imagine what you and your wife were going through. Good that she is up and about.
