when can you reserve a table? What website do I use to reserve? Any other dining locations I should be concerned about? We are staying at Portifino Bay, I believe that helps us at Citywalk locations.

You can make ressies for Mytho’s from the Universal Orlando Website. Just go to the Plan Your Visit drop down and you will see dining reservations. Hit that and it will give you options for dining at CityWalk, IOA, US and the Resorts. Pick IOA and you will see Mytho’s.

You can make ressies 30 Days out.

It's not like Disney- you don't need to be frantic or worry about missing making reservations. :) You can make them 30 days out but even 1-2 weeks is no problem. You can walk in though they might tell you to come back in a few hours (so reservations are nice to have).
Try Open Table for CityWalk and the hotel restaurants. You can make them sooner. Again, you don't need to but if you'd like to then you can.

I also made day before reservations for lunch time with no problems. (They also had same day but not til late afternoon).

I’ve never had an issue getting seated at the day of making a reservation at mythos

Going on a week day is easy getting in

We've never needed reservations at Mythos. Since you are staying at Portofino, if there is a wait at Mythos, you can show your room key and get moved way up the list. One time, there was about a 15 minute wait. We showed our room key and got seated in about 3 minutes.

That said, if it's some place you really want to go, make reservations. There's always a chance you get there right after a big group of people get seated and inflate the wait time.

I went to the UO website and was able to get a 6:15 pm Mythos reservation for next Sunday. There were several other dinner times available.

We usually reserve the morning of with no problem. You don't need to- I just like to minimize our wait time! We've been seated immediately with a reservation while walk-ins were told 30-45 minutes of a wait.

Just a follow up on this - I ended up canceling our Sunday dinner reservation, because we ended up eating a very late lunch. On Monday (memorial day), we decided to try walking up about 6 pm to see how long the wait was - there was no wait at all. We were seated immediately and were in and out in under an hour. Food was good!

Just as a quick note on this topic that, while planning for our upcoming trip, I have seen mentioned or asked about countless times...

Based on info I received here by reading, I decided, after much transition of thought process, to wait and book ressies for meals about a week out. While I was able to book most everything the way I had it planned out with no problems, there WERE a couple of concessions I had to make. For example: I wanted a Monday evening ressie for Cowfish but couldnt get anything later than 4:15PM. I ended up choosing lunch instead. After some perusal of the days surrounding next week I noticed a similar trend with many times being taken. So...

For all of those kind folks giving out suggestions, please bear in mind that there are exceptions to the relax mentality. True, it's not "Disney = 180 days out" but it may be a good idea to throw in a caveat about letting folks know that if they are over planners like me, then they can do so about 30 days out. (like I saw one poster here do).

I like many are new converts from Disney, as background, and we are looking forward to next week!! Thanks for all the great info I used in planning.

Does Cowfish accept dinner reservations? I don't think they do. I know when I say "not like Disney" I am referring to the in park restaurants. CityWalk plays by its own rules. :) And if you are staying at one of their deluxe hotels, many CityWalk restaurants offer preference if you show your room key- you get bumped up the wait list.

FWIW, Cowfish and many other of the City Walk restaurants offer priority seating to on-site resort guests. In addition, I believe I have heard they hold some availability back for walk-up guests. We never make reservations, never tried, and have never had a wait longer than 20 minutes at a City Walk restaurant. But like everything else, YMMV.

I'll also add that City Walk can get busy during peak times of year (just like everywhere) and also around park closing. However, the in-park table service restaurants are pretty consistently easy to get into aside from the highest peak times. Anyone can make a reservation if they are on a time crunch, but those without reservations aren't out of luck like they'd be at Disney World. They always take walk-ups, even if you have to wait.

Agreed. One of our favorite things about UO is not having to have reservations and being able to eat when we want to.
