I love credit cards so much!

Two interesting DPs on /r/churning today:

YouTubeTV codes as 3x UR on CIP (and probably 5x UR on CIC)
MPX may be passing how a gift card purchase codes to the end merchant’s category again on Chase cards (so a gift card to a restaurant would earn 2x on CSP, 3x on CSR) - more DPs coming

ETA: And I guess one false DP that Plastiq hasn’t been coding for 3x UR on CIP for the past two months. He was promptly correctly. My most recent Plastiq payment on 5/16 earned 3x, and another payment processed today that I’ll update when it posts. It’s always good to keep tabs on these DPs even if there’s been no change, because changes can and do happen.

Wait till you get to FB... 8 yrs later still no one will respond to my DW's name change requests. They flag it is 'fake' and won't let her change it.
Oh man. I might just leave mine!

Got our CIP cards today! Time to start racking up those points!
Woohoo! I'm way too excited to change some of my Bills hahaha. Just wait until DH goes to pay the bill and it's got my phone, the insurance, my car payment... :rolleyes1
Just weird, I changed my name in 2016 or 2017 and the Chase phone rep did them all over the phone. It was so bizarre, I changed almost all my cards over the phone with no documentation. I was like, crud should have done it years ago if i knew it was this easy! Silly me waited until I changed my name legally with the state first so I'd have gov ID to verify rather sending my marriage cert everywhere.only Amex and the airlines wanted any kind of proof. (Kinda scary but as long as I wasn't changing anything else like address too it seemed pretty safe) I guess Chase changed protocols in the last year, cuz I had 2 phone reps who did it all. Although I guess I could have got both rogues in the whole team :)
So weird. I've needed to email or upload drivers license or marriage certificate for everything so far. The guy at Chase on the phone told me they'd have to transfer me to the banking department to do my checking account too. Like, can I just go into the bank? :confused3

a few of us had plans on doing this... but we keep getting the recent rumors that the UR line wouldn't be combinable in the near future.
I hadn’t heard these rumors yet. Are you saying in the future, you might not be able to combine the points from multiple cards into one UR account, even if held by the same person. I know it’s still a rumor, but is that the interpretation?

My Plastiq payment May 11 earned 3x UR on CIP.

Thanks @speedyfishy and @Albort for the Walmart MO DPs and info!

i Bernina...do you sew or is your name a coincidence? :)

In your chase account you can choose to "not show" your closed CSP. It is under your preferences. Drives me crazy when closed accounts are there so I always do that if they don't fall off on their own. You just unclick the box.

The CIP doesn't count towards 5/24 but you will want to include it in assessing yourself for a shutdown...which you don't appear in danger of anytime soon if you are only 0/24.

The Hilton biz is a good offer and do the dummy booking so you get the $50 statement credit too. No, it won't count against 5/24.

@disneymagicgirl I don't sew but did pick the name from my MIL's favorite machine! I was trying to pick a name that would keep me pretty anonymous on message boards, but of course I've since failed miserably by sharing photos, trip details and much more! :) Thank you for all of the tips and advice you've shared!

Thank you @Lain and @SouthFayetteFan for all your advice on shut downs, */24 and next card advice!

And thank you to everyone else who has shared their tips, time and advice to help me get back in the game! I've tried 4 times to go back through and multi quote all the wonderful replies I received but this site is not liking me at the moment so I'm going to post while I can!

a few of us had plans on doing this... but we keep getting the recent rumors that the UR line wouldn't be combinable in the near future. If thats the case, we all believe that the CI+ is the best card to still have. My AF hit last month, ive continued with it still for that off chance that might happen. i think @calypso726 has similar thought. The choice is up to u though.

Thank you, I do remember reading a few comments regarding this and it was on my list to research. I don't mind paying the fee but since I'm not currently putting anything on DH's Chase Ink Plus, is there a valid reason to keep his (vs. PC to CIC)? I do have CIP planned for him soon and potentially a CSP/CSR double dip 6+ months from that time (assuming things are still around and working). For mine I may dip my toes back into manufactured spend on Simon or gas station (if I can find them) VGC. I used to be able to get those at Speedway but I think that well may have dried up.

Edited to add: I would transfer his UR points over to my account in near future. His CIP, CSR/CSP double dip points could end up being stuck on his account, but those should be a big enough pot to be used on their own.

Oh, it’s not so much he minds carrying them. It’s that he literally tracks every purchase on a credit card, except my Banana Republic and Target, in a spreadsheet. So it means another spreadsheet for him and another credit card to keep track of. I’ll have to start getting the Amazon gift cards so we can stop using the Amazon CC for him to track. :)
ooohhh, hahaha! Well I know the feeling. I manually input all our purchases into YNAB4.

You should be able to do all of it at the bank if you've got one. I haven't changed my name on my old BoA card because I think they said I had to go in branch. Since I don't use the card I'm not putting that much effort into it :) I think Capital One wants a fax or go in branch for that one too, but that's just a bank account. (so again, that one hasn't been changed yet either)
I had called Target first and they just changed the name, said congratulations, we're suspending your card until you get the new one (why IDK!), is there anything else I can help you with?
So stunned, I called the number on my SW card next, and the same thing, guy's like, congratulations, no problem, how do you spell that? ok it'll be in the mail tomorrow, go ahead and use the old card until you get it. Stunned again I call the number on the IHG card, rep says, oh I see you have a new card coming with the new name, do you want me to change all your cards to that name? Well yes please! Didn't know you could do that, all the cards had different numbers to call and the last guy didn't mention it. Oh yeah we can see everything, one sec... there you go :)
They all went like that until Amex and I had to threaten to cancel the card to get someone to change it. I kept uploading a pic of my driver's license and I kept getting a letter in the mail 2 days later saying the pic was illegible, for faster service upload a pic on our website. :badpc:
That went on for a couple months when finally I had to I call the number for my corporate card. I explained the situation and said it absolutely had to be changed as I had a trip coming up and my card had to match my DL (one of the rental car companies is a stickler, I forget who). They were the nicest guys but I wound up emailing a pic of my DL to some random dude in India and have trusted they didn't immediately sell it after changing my name  I asked them if they could do my personal one too and they didn't want any part in that. So call personal, they could see my name was changed on the corporate but that wasn't good enough so I lost it and told them to just cancel it. I used it once a few months before but before that hadn't used it in years and it's not worth this aggravation just to make you money. Well that changed their tune real fast, somehow miraculously the supervisor could see enough to confirm my name change and they expedited the card out to me
(Don't ya know it worked though, I only use it for AmEx offers but I saved $150 and earned 10k points in one year on a free card just on offers. )
About half the hotels and car rentals I did over the phone or on the website. Guess I got it done just in time for it to be easy-ish. I think I have a couple more airlines and Wyndham rewards to change but they all want documentation so I've just been lazy about calling to get the forms or fax numbers since we mainly fly SW and stay other places. The things we do to make hubby happy :)

This is exactly why I haven’t product changed my old Ink+. It is my most valuable UR earning card. This card easily earns us over 100,000 UR per year. That is worth far more than the AF.

So we tried paying our mortgage with Plastiq and it won't work since we are using a Visa card. We are trying to think of another way to make that $5000 without counting the mortgage. I was banking on the mortgage counting towards it so this may be tough. DH thinks we should use Plastiq to pay ourselves (via check) and then pay the mortgage. Would that be a way to work around the system?

If you don't mind, what do you put on the card? I pay cable and cell phone and have bought gift cards at Staples for the 5x.

Open a PNC checking account and fund with up to $2k on CIP. You can also open a Savings and do the same. The best part is they have a $200 or $300 promo as well! Quick and easy.
