Do you have nightmares/bad dreams about your cruise in the months, weeks, days leading up?

In another thread, talking about flying in on the day of your cruise, someone mentions what happens if you miss a flight because of a flat tire or traffic? Another poster mentioned they have nightmares about that sort of stuff.

It made me think...everytime I had a cruise booked, the last few weeks I had recurring nightmare that we drove all the way down to PC from MA, we get to the port, reach the counter, only to find I left our cruise documents and ID on the kitchen table at home 1300 miles away. I would wake up in a cold sweat, my heart racing.

Last year, a coworker and her boyfriend left VA to take a cruise out of TX. They got to the cruise terminal, and MY nightmare happened to them. He did not have his passport OR birth certificate. They did not cruise. When she was telling me the story I believe I may have been hyperventilating a little bit.

What is YOUR nightmare scenerio?

We always cruise sometime Jan-March, during flu season. I always worry someone in my family will get the flu and we'll have to cancel. About a month before our cruise this past March we all came down with the flu. We had gotten the flu vax, so we didn't have a severe case of it. I was so happy we got it a month before our cruise, so I could then relax as it got closer to our cruise. It was the first time for my 9 yr old dd to get the flu and I haven't had it in over 30 yrs. Dh and I always triple check with one another to make sure we have everything before we leave the house. Your poor co-worker, hope they were able to do something else.

That happened to someone in our recent cruise group. Their first ever cruise and they brought their kids birth certificates but didn't realize they needed their own. Thought their driver's license would suffice. Anyway, they realized the night before the cruise after flying down and of course freaked out and their kids were devastated. We all had suggestions about having a friend or family member find them and fax a copy, but they had no family and no clue where to tell friends to look. Finally as a last resort on the morning of the cruise they called their vital statistics offices in their home states and convinced them to fax them to DCL (for a fee, of course). Glad to say that they made it onboard!!

I had the worst nightmare about a month before our first cruise. Our ship was sinking and I was standing on the edge looking into the black abyss that was the ocean. I woke up in a sweat. It was hard to put that image out of my mind as I walked on to the Fantasy for the first time, but I'm sure glad I succeeded. It was a wonderful trip and there was nothing to worry about.

Oh wow! I hate dreams that seem like premonitions. When my youngest DS was 10 moths old, we bought a house with an above ground pool. We closed in January, so it would be months before we could use the pool. I had VIVID nightmares nightly. I won't call them dreams, because they were blood curdling nightmares. In them, the baby was in the bath tub, and slipped under the water. I COULD NOT get him up. He would slip out of my hands and back under the water. Looking up at me with his big beautiful eyes. I would wake up determined it was a premonition, and that we needed to get rid of the pool. It's been almost 18 years, and I can still clearly see his little face under the water, looking up at me.

We lived in the house for 4.5 years, DH wouldn't let me get rid of the pool, and fortunately, nothing happened.

Frightening! I remember, as a new mom, waking up from a nightmare, sitting up and grabbing at air, as my dream was the baby falling off the bed. I laugh now, but I was hyper-vigilant back then.

I keep dreaming about missing my flight...get to the gate an hour late or on the wrong day. I’ve dreamed it twice this week! I’ve triple checked my flight confirmations sooooo many times

I’ve had a recurring dream for years that I’m trying to fly to Paris, only to realize last minute I don’t have my passport. Because of those dreams I was super anxious DH was going to forget the passports before our cruise. But of course he didn’t lol.

I have a rule to not watch "Titanic" or "The Poseidon Adventure" for six months prior to each cruise. Sometimes the memories of my eight days on the USNS Alexander Patch troop ship from Fort Dix to Bremerhaven, Germany in 1959 come back to haunt me...that was no cruise...not a single hidden Mickey aboard, just a lot of seasick soldiers headed for assignments in Europe.

All the time. Mostly about forgetting important documents or ending up in the wrong place or missing the cruise.

It does make me check everything over and over again.

Gah! I had a nightmare last night that we were on a different cruise line and the ship was a DUMP! There were only curtains instead of stateroom doors and the bathtub was movable around the room and it was dirty. To top it all off, for some reason, I'd left my packing to DH, who didn't so much as put a toothbrush in the suitcase for me! The nerve! lol!

I remember before our 1st Disney Cruise in 2002 I had a dream that we were all stuffed in a cramped nasty room with tiny bunk beds and everyone was mad at me for wanting to take a cruise.......

I shouldn’t have read this. LOL. We cruise next Saturday! I don’t have nightmares, but we do get hyper-vigilant about germs. We usually purchase trip insurance and we did not this time, soooo......

Definitely had anxiety dreams, but not as bad as this groups! Mine are over little silly planning things. In one of them I showed up at Enchanted Garden on the first night only to be told I had to make an advance reservation for main dining rooms and had to eat at the counter service every night! In another, my parents joined us on the cruise at the last minute but they couldn't be added to our Palo rezzie and I was torn between being a bad daughter and going without them or missing out on that Palo rezzie!!!

We definitely left for the airport in an Uber one time and 2 minutes into the ride I shrieked and scared the drive and my family half to death because I realized the passports were still sitting on our computer desk. We turned back and all was well, but that was a near miss!

Scary what we forget on the way out in a rush. I once left a candle burning on the mantle. Like you, I luckily remembered two minutes out on the way to the airport. I don't do candles anymore, as that scared me so much.

Oh my goodness-that would be so stressful worrying about a fire! What I do now is write up a list in the notes app on my phone of everything i need to pack the day of — passports, tooth brushes, phone chargers, kids’ teddy bears etc. and delete them one by one feom the list when I pack them. When the list is blank, it’s safe to go to the airport!

Our first cruise was a surprise for our DDs. About a month before the cruise my younger DD told me she had a dream about being in a ship and there was a big explosion. She said it was a pirate attack. Still made me a nervous wreck!
Luckily, only pirates we saw were from Pirate Night!!

We just saw the National Geographic Museum’s Titanic exhibit on Monday!

We left our home Sunday for a pre-vacation before our cruise. We got in the car, ready to pull out of the driveway, and DH asked me to put my eyes on my passport. It was not in my wallet! I had them in my other wallet in the house. I am sooo happy DH said to do that! My son’s passport was with my passport also.
