Some people are so gross!

So we were at the Jambo House pool today having an awesome time when I notice a lady sitting on the edge of the pool (you know how they have a ledge that goes around the perimeter). She was sitting on the side with her foot up on the ledge clipping her toenails while she was yapping on the phone! After she clipped a nail, she rinsed the clipper off in the pool and went on to the next toe. She was so casual about it, just chatting an clipping, it was crazy!

We didn't complain or confront the lady, we're not really the type to do either. We just vocalized how disgusting we thought it was loud enough for plenty of people in the area to hear it. I'd never want to put some kid lifeguard in a position to have to address an issue like this plus I'm sure half the people there pee in the pool.

It's not something that ruined our day, sometimes you just have to laugh at how ridiculous some people are.

I kind of equate this behavior with "Florida" because I've just in general seen some weird, nasty things happen in Florida pools. When we stayed in the Marriott in Key West, we watched 4 adults with 1 toddler ignore the toddler who then semi-drowned for 10 seconds and took in a bunch of water before Grandpa pulled them back up. Then the toddler puked all over the pool. Half digested chicken fingers. Did any of those adults tell any hotel people? Nooooo. They all just stayed quiet and pretended the puke wasn't in the pool. We had to tell someone and all they did was get out a pool scraper and pick out the chunks they could. The pool was never closed which made me then realize how often public pools must get puked in and no one really cares.

Absolutely disgusting and selfish behavior!! Does she ever think about anyone but herself?? I applaud your generous spirit, but I would have turned her in pronto! YUCK.

Just because this behavior happened in Florida doesn't mean 1) it doesn't happen in other states (you just haven't seen it) and 2) the person performing that act was from Florida. There are a lot of people from other states/countries that visit Disney and Key West.

Gross, inappropriate, selfish, inconsiderate... a whole host of words to describe the Offender come to mind.

Everyone has heard the urban legend of the blue chemical to detect pee?

It actually is a thing. The problem is, the pool would always be blue as everyone pees in the pool whether on purpose or not.

Happy swimming.

I'm always one to confront people if their behavior is out of line. It typically embarrasses my family, but I just can't seem to help myself.

The above story is reminiscent of an experience I had riding the Green Line in Los Angeles. A professionally dressed man was trimming his nails, with all the clippings falling to the floor. At first I thought, "Surely he'll pick them up." When all was said and done, he put his clippers away and started reading his paper. I called out and asked him to pick up his clippings because no one wanted to see them or have anything to do with them. He furrowed his brow in a vain attempt to comprehend the situation, while I went into more detail about how one should do their personal trimming at home or at least pick up after themselves. To which he responded with the awesome "How about you mind your own business..." Oh boy, did I have fun with him after that!!!

This is my long winded way of saying that even if the OP had approached this disgusting woman who washes her toenails into the pool, the woman wouldn't have cared and could easily have been nasty. You can't shame the shameless...

So funny, I love it, since other than the Florida Seminole Indians, everyone else, including myself comes from somewhere else. So, the consensus is that when you Northerner’s head down to Florida any etiquette, couthe and decorum gets left at the border. We, Canadians don’t groom at the pool, but we do like to wear our white socks with our sandals, complain about everything, and just plain not tip because we’re cheap (spoken from a Canadian living in sunny Florida since 1972, eh!) The last time I did Country Bear Jamboree, I was lucky enough to sit next to a woman who proceeded to pick everyone of her groady, dirty toes during the entire performance. That was 10 years ago, lucky for her, because now I find as I get older, my inner voice often loses out to my outside voice! If I’ve offended anyone, let me apologize!

Eww.
We were at turtle pond pool two weeks ago , and a youngish child had an accident in the pool. The parents cleaned it up but let their kids keep swimming. Gag.
I had to call to OKW recreation to get someone over to close and shock pool.

A couple years ago we were in the store at contemporary where you buy sundries. There was a man flossing his teeth.

People are gross.

I always felt gross about swimming in Lake Michigan. But in recent years, I think I would rather swim in a lake than a pool. At least there are animals that clean up after the humans. YUCK! YUCK! YUCK!

Last Friday on the bus from ASMu to Disney Springs I witnessed a GROWN MAN with his hands inside his pants the whole bus ride. There was no mistaking what was happening. He was serious and the flexing muscles indicated he was committed. His GF next to him was totally oblivious.

Omg why? I mean, ig technically if she were swimming her toenails would be in the pool lol .. But why do you need to rinse your clippers? What is on them? This is just weird and yes, kinda gross.

sick. And imo scary. There are kids around!! You're at Disney

Big difference between doing personal grooming in/out of public areas and personal gratification in public places. One is illegal, punishable by law and I don’t know how I would have reacted to the witnessing if it, but I believe that one way or another, I would have addressed the matter.
