As the Ticker Turns...the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Thanks! You’ll love AKL CL. They have afternoon tea too with scones, clotted cream and jam. It’s too bad they discontinued the CL Sunrise Safari. I think we stayed CL during one of the last years they offered it.

Afternoon tea sounds lovely will have to make a point to check that out.

I just recently switched from the Yacht Club to Boardwalk Inn. This makes it probably the 3rd time I've changed and I may not be done. I'm also a DVC member and got the first 4 nights at Boardwalk Villas in a 1BR accommodation (thus far I haven't been successful getting any waitlisted studios this year) and then the next two nights at Beach Club Villa in a studio and rounding out the trip for 2 nights at the Boardwalk Inn. I really prefer to stay on the Boardwalk this trip but I will also keep watching those Passholder rates for December.

Disney trips are the best! We are heading to Tokyo DL and then stopping in California DL for 3 days on our way back. Next trip to WDW is May 2019 with JanetB.
Is this your first trip to Tokyo Disney?

Fun! Janet hasn’t mentioned she’s going in May. BWI? I’m going to Universal in May! My youngest is graduating and asked for her grad present a Universal trip lol. She loves Harry Potter. May isn’t usually a time I go to Orlando but daughter seems confident she’s going to find a job soon after graduation and wanted to go before she starts working. So May it is.

So quick update for all!! I think the last time I posted I was going to DL?? Maybe?

I am Pas, one of the reigning Queen resort changers, and I have the most amazing Royal court. Thank you to all the changers who keep this thread going. I sure am proud. My kiddos are now 26, 17, 14, 12, 11, and 10! I managed to finish my Masters last year, and of course I am still working two jobs.

2018 recap....

June 2018 BWI CL with DH for his birthday
August 2018 Poly CL with DD14 and a bunch of Disney galpals
September 2018 Universal Adventura with DH for HHN

Jan 2019 YC GV CL with hubs

Hi Pas! I’m going to DL again next month to see Christmas decorations. Last year we saw Halloween! I think DL does way better decorations than WDW. Cars Land was amazing. HM and Space were sadly closed when we were there, too early arrival I guess but the outside of HM was amazing. Too bad they don’t do it in MK. I’m excited to see it next month.

We just returned 9/11 from WDW, WL stay. Planning on Universal in May. I’ve. Booked Royal Pacific. I recall you’ve stayed there. Thoughts? We’ve stayed at the other 2 Deluxe so thought I’d try RPH. I think it will be hard to top Portofino though. We had an amazing deluxe room facing the Bay on top? Floor with huge stone balcony. I don’t know why Universal resorts don’t have many balconies.

Only two weeks until our first club level stay at animal Kingdom Lodge and I’ve come down with the flu even though I had my flu shot last month Ugh
I was thinking of switching our trip to March for my birthday and they came out with the great rates at yacht club and Graham Floridian but all the rooms seem to have been snatched up for the days I want to go.......Oh well

Keep looking since the availability always changes!!! Water view was all that was available so I jumped on GV CL the moment it opened up. YC isn’t my favorite Epcot resort but they’ve always been great to us!! I’m so sorry you’re sick! Sending healing thoughts that you are 100% by your trip

Lucky lady! I’ve never gotten a Portofino balcony. Although I may have not requested one. DL is just the best!!! I saw everything starting to go up last November and WOW! Royal pacific is really a lovely resort. Out of the 3, it’s my least favorite...but it has that island vibe and serenity there. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are smaller but super comfy!!

Yes, I requested a balcony! I hope I like RPH, I like Poly. Love the South Pacific vibes. Room size isn’t an issue as this trip is just me and younger daughter (28). It’s her grad present. She is getting Bachelors of Social Work.

Looking forward to DL. I’m meeting up with my friend from LA, we were just discussing our ADRs earlier today. Doing the Holiday Tour.

It's been a while since I've been on the boards and can't believe our last trip to the world was in 2016!!

In the very beginning stages of planning a trip for next August for DH, myself and my youngest DD who will be turning 21! I haven't booked anything yet and I have already made a zillion changes (in my head anyways :rotfl:).

My dilemma: Because we know just how hot it is in August, I really preferred BC or YC because of the location and well, we love both resorts! BUT... these prices and having 3 adults in a room now is making me go back and forth. I thought about maybe one of the studio villas but recently heard they may start charging for the extra adult in the room in the new year and also heard the studio villas are smaller than a regular room?? Then I thought about CSR, which we do like and it would be cheaper but it's also more walking outside which I'm sure I'll regret once we're there! DH says for me not to be such a cheapo and just stick with BC or YC like we first planned. I'm sooooo torn!

Hi Everyone,

We just changed from Deluxe club level at the Boardwalk to a Garden View Club Level at the Poly for Dec 16-20. With all the rumors of the boats and possibly walking access to EPCOT and HS being shut down during that time, I didn't want to get stuck there with only bus transportation as an option.

Have you considered WL? We stayed there this past August. We stayed in regular 2 queen room but we spent 90% of pool time at the Villas pool. It’s fabulous! Your MB opens the gate. It’s zero entry, and a beautiful pool, loads of lounges and umbrellas. And it costs less than YC/BC. Loved the new Geyser Point Grill too. Great food, can watch MK fireworks with music piped in.

Nice to see you!!! I’m going to vote with the DH on this one. SAB all the way!! Summer I’m dreaming of that Poly Oasis pool, but my pocketbook is telling me maybe not, so I get it! At least August is value season, right? If there is such a thing anymore. Welcome back and so happy you’ve got a trip in the works

I love love love both of those resorts! And take away the IG access, then I’m all about the Poly!!

We haven't considered WL as the last time we visited, my youngest DD kept saying she felt like she needed a baby brother to tote around as it reminded her of a "boys scout" resort (Mind you, this was many years ago when she was much younger with a smart butt attitude). I will have to take a look tonight and show her what it looks like now. Will definitely price this one out too!

I do love the BC/YC and since this trip we will be celebrating my youngest DD's 21st birthday she's excited to partake in some cocktails and wants to finally be able to try some of "mommy's" favorite drinks around the world at Epcot :rotfl:.

That’s so exciting! Time to celebrate

Happy New Year everyone!

We finally did book and right now (LOL) are staying at the BC. I say right now as I am just waiting to see what my bonus brings me this year :rolleyes1. Worse case, we'll come down to a moderate, most likely CSR and we'll shoot for a room in the new tower. My youngest DD is studying to be a nurse and after having no vacation last year and be stressed to the max with the nursing program, she's soooo looking forward to this upcoming trip and has already said she could care less where we stay. Really hoping we keep our BC ressie, but no matter where we end up, just happy to be heading back to our "happy place" :).

Yeah, I don’t think WDW has any value seasons anymore. Prices are crazy! I priced out late August and it was sticker shock! For the first time in a long time I’m not going for Labour Day. We’re booked for a Universal trip in April instead at Royal Pacific. I’ve stayed at HRH & Portofino, Royal Pacific is next on the list! I love tropical theme.

Congrats on BC. We booked Universal to celebrate my youngest getting her Bachelors of Social Work in late April.
I remember her in Florida when she was 19, legal age here to drink and when she found out she wasn’t in Florida her look was comical.
