We Don't Need Therapy-THIS is Our Therapy! (Planning our 7-Night NYC to WDW Adventure)

Check ins are complete! :yay:
I'm happy to report that we got our 1st choice for everything! We had anticipated that with so much going on there was a possibility that we may not get our first choice for all of our bookings, so being the obsessive planners that we are, we planned back-ups upon back-ups. :) Also, @jennRR457 and I also had differing opinions on what should be the first priority booking. She wanted the earliest port arrival (We're those people. We just are.), and I wanted to make sure we got the earliest shuttle to Animal Kingdom that was offered. Happily, we not only got both of our top priorities, we also got Palo brunch on the day we wanted AND we got spa appointments on the day that we wanted at the same time. (which I've never been able to accomplish) So now that the itinerary is firmly in place and settled, I get to move on to the next phases of planning.

PACKING!

Yes, I know... I'm a nerd. I just like packing. But things are different this time around. Normally, vacation clothes and work clothes are very separate categories for me. I've always had a pretty strict dress code at work so believe me, I don't want to wear "work clothes" on my vacation. But with my new job, its very casual and "wear what you want." That, combined with packing for the fall weather in NYC means that I can't just toss all my vacation clothes in my suitcase any longer. So most likely I will have to come up with a schedule for packing certain items. But rest assured there will be a complete "trial pack" coming up very soon. The big suitcase has been hauled out and so has the "cruise bag" full of things that I only use on my cruises. (i.e. door decorations and lanyards) *fingers crossed* that everything fits into one checked bag. I'd rather not have to deal with a checked bag and a huge carry-on...

Also, I think that our FE gifts are finally decided on, and we have divided responsibilities up. Now I just have to start working on it. eeeek!

We'll check in later, but until then, Happy Packing!

That's great you were able to get all of your first choices! I do online check-in next week. I hope mine goes as smoothly as your's.

I can't even wrap my head around packing yet. I'm a late packer. I do need to figure out what I'm going to wear because if I need anything for cruise weather it won't be available soon.

I've started a page in OneNote that just has pictures of outfit inspirations that I have all the pieces for already. But I'm also looking at trying to pack a capsule wardrobe this time around where I use every piece of clothing multiple times. Normally I just pack full outfits into ziploc bags...

And in a truly shocking turn of events... With only 46 days left, there are only 3 items in my suitcase so far. Aaaaannnnddddd all three are gifts for @jennRR457. MAJOR packing fail for me. But in all honesty, this summer turned out to be far busier than I anticipated, and Hurricane Florence didn't really help matters much. So hopefully I can hunker down and knock this out soon. In good news, my list is basically finished, now I just have to see if everything on the list will fit in my new suitcase.

Also, my part of the FEs are done! I'm going to be looking for some kind of gift bag option, but the actual work part is done for me! :)

Good luck with your packing! I plan on finally giving packing cubes a try this next trip. I forgot to use them in June until I finished packing. o_O I wasn't about to unpack and restart at that point.

@jennRR457 swears by the things, but I just haven't taken the time to do the research and actually buy any... (also this voice in the back of my head keeps whispering that I've done fine travelling the world without them for 30+ years... :rolleyes1)

@MnkyGirl I don't swear by packing cubes. They just really nice for organisation, and you know how much I love organising. Also, three gifts for me?? I thought you were only bringing one? It seems I now have more shopping to do...

DON'T YOU DARE! :sad2: I just ordered your Birthday and Christmas gifts and they happened to come in 3 packages??? Does that sound reasonable? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Cruise booklet and Luggage Tags have arrived!!! Also, I can officially say "I'm going on a cruise next month" which, while exciting, just serves to remind me of all the things I need to accomplish between now and then. Like, cleaning the house, getting things squared away at work, ordering the rest of those Disney gift cards for onboard credits... EEEEKKKK

I know that feeling. I'm also going on a cruise next month and feel the same way. Excited but also overwhelmed with all the to-dos I have left to complete. Plus the everyday life stuff. I still haven't finished my magnets. I'm glad I didn't sign up for a FE exchange because that would put me over the edge.

Just in case you were wondering, yes, this picture did indeed get sent to just about everyone I know... Gotta rub it in every once in a while LOL

In other news... Packing has commenced!!! :)

Yeah, I know... that's not much stuff, but I have officially started throwing things I won't need between now and then(and some that I will) into the suitcase. The packing list is finalized and shopping is complete. I even got a secondary back up battery for my cell phone. That Disney day is a phone drainer...

And just in case you were wondering, this is how I purse shop... put them all on, and send @jennRR457 photos and she tells me which one to buy. She knows what will match because I also send her pictures like the one below modeling what I plan to wear...

Pretty sure that she is happy that the constant barrage of pictures and questions has slowed for now. LOL

And in what has turned out to be my only impulse buy so far in preparation for this trip... I ordered a celebration cake from DCL. Not that we are officially celebrating, but I am GF and terribly miss having Cake of the Day from Room Service. So while ordering our Rainforest Room passes, I saw the celebration cakes and I know that they offer those GF. So on a crazy whim I ordered a cake for myself to be delivered on the first night of the cruise. The plan is to keep it in the fridge and every time that @jennRR457 orders Cake of the Day, I'll pull out my cake to nibble on. :cake::rolleyes1

This will most likely be one of my last posts on here until we get back (she says knowing full well she won't be able to resist posting pics of the packed suitcase...) but due to a crazy crazy crazy work schedule, I'll be busy until the week I leave.

So with that I wish you all happy packing for your next adventure and happy planning!

Love it! I still haven't received my booklet and I cruise before you. It went to my TA and she's on vacation. I should get it next week. Since it'll be my first cruise, I don't know what I'm missing out on without it.

Ooooh I love this outfit. So fall!

Have a great trip!

The booklet is really only important for the luggage tags that you put on your luggage so the cruise porters know who belongs with what bags. Otherwise it's all stuff you can find online. But, it's still MAJOR vacation vibes when you get it and also super helpful to have all of that information in one place. It used to be super important and have some documents you had to bring to port with you, but they've added all of those to online check in since I first cruised.

Thank you for the information on the books.
