Quick trip to Disney with an AMAZING Upgrade *Completed 1/30*

WOW! Good for you, thanks for letting me see the room and the lounge, don't know if I will ever see it with my own eyes. :goodvibes.

Several years back, when Disney first allowed you book directly online, I booked a room for my parents for their anniversary.
They wanted the Beach Club, booked a regular room for them. My kids were there at the same time.
My daughter met them when they checked in and she knew something was up when the woman greeted them and said she would show them to their room.
They were upgraded to a club room, boy were they surprised!
They had a blast and enjoyed it so much.
I was really happy for them, but I kept telling my husband "That was our upgrade, I booked it on our Disney account, LOLOLOL
It was one of the last times they traveled to Disney so I am glad it was so special, they are in their 80's now and no longer have the desire to travel.

Loving your pictures and detailed description of your magical upgrade! Maybe me one day....
Thanks! I've been going to Disney since I was a little baby and I'm almost 30 and this is the first time they've ever given me an upgrade like this, so there is definitely hope one day you'll experience it :)

:cutie:

Amazing and so happy for you!! DH and I were upgraded to the Roy Disney Suite at the GF last Sept. Blew us away, so thankful as we'll never book ourselves there lol. We're both very lucky :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes Thank you for sharing!
Wow you got one of the really big suites! What I read online is there are four and ours is the smallest of the bunch, although it's still incredibly large! It was such an amazing room. It was funny I had no intention of doing a dining report for this trip, but when we walked into this room I was like I just have to share this! We definitely both got some awesome pixie dust!

That is the most incredible upgrade! How exciting! :)
It really was, I never would have expected getting something like that before. I didn't even know this room existed before lol.

What an awesome experience for your parents! They must have been blown away by the room. And such a nice way to spend Disney when they aren't planning on going back.

Club Lounge Breakfast

I definitely love the breakfast at the lounge and think this could save a lot of money if going with kids that eat a lot. I think if I end up having boys I would definitely book club for that savings, I know when my brother was younger he ate a ridiculous amount of food when growing. These bagels were really good, I had them with butter.

I love deviled eggs and had a bunch of these. I do think the ones served at the California Grill Brunch are a bit better, but these were still pretty delicious.

So my awesome DH went and took all these pictures while I slept in a bit and then brought me back plates of food. The one annoying thing about the food is the plates are really small snack sized plates. I guess they figure people are just going to eat there and can go back and get more when they finish, but we brought a lot of food back to our room so it was difficult with the little plates.

This was DH's plate, but I forgot about Mickey Waffles and ended up having most of his food so he had to go back and get himself something. :)

Our awesome room.

Today was the start of the cold front that hasn't really gone away in Florida. Just looking outside you could tell it was cold. It was also really windy and the lake was having waves from the wind.

While DH was bringing the luggage to the car he came across a wild turkey!

The different names for each floor of Club Level.

One last time looking down into the lobby from the 5th floor.

They had stairs from floors 3-5 so we could easily get down to the lounge for food without having to wait on an elevator.

These flowers were outside the really big suites, we took a walk around our floor to see what else was around.

And then sadly had to say goodbye to the best hotel stay ever. We were headed over to Animal Kingdom to go on a couple rides before heading home. I'd made all the fast passes starting around noon so we could linger in the room until we were kicked out at 11am, although I didn't see any housekeeping around when we left so we probably could have stayed a little longer and no one would have noticed.

Going to wrap up this report, only have a couple pictures from Animal Kingdom and our lunch.

Animal Kingdom Satu'li Canteen

As we were driving to Animal Kingdom DH realized he didn't have his sunglasses. He had accidentally left them on the table in the lounge. So I made a quick turn around and he called Disney to see if they had them. It did connect him with the call center, but they transferred him to the club level staff. After describing the sunglasses the guy did confirm they had found them at the table and were holding them on the third floor for him. So we pulled up and he quickly ran up to get them. I feel like club level didn't want us to go :)

With that little delay we had to change plans a bit. Originally we were going to eat lunch when we got there, but neither of us were really hungry after the large breakfast and we were getting there at the end of the fast pass for our Safari ride so we had to run to get there before time ran out.

Baby giraffe was interested in us. I've read how a little baby was recently born on the savanna, but he wasn't out when we were there.

While we were going by the crocodiles I saw one of the tours. Has anyone done this tour? It looks really interesting and I was considering booking it.

After the ride we walked the nature trail and saw a hippo running by under water. Fun fact, hippos do not swim, they are too heavy too, but they do walk under water and can even run under water. That's what this one was doing.

This guy was really impressive to look at. Like staring at a living dinosaur.

We went on Dinosaur and then had a large gap until our next fast pass for the Pandora river ride so we decided to go to our favorite quick service Satu'li Canteen.

This was the first time we've tried mobile ordering. It didn't go as smoothly as we hoped and realized you should say you are there when you're walking there because they don't start cooking your food until you do that, so we had to wait a bit. This was the first time we've been there since the menu change, so I decided to try out all the new items.

upload_2019-1-30_7-57-36.png

I got the shrimp with noodles and garlic herb sauce. I really liked this. I was a little concerned when I heard they changed the menu, it was pretty amazing as is and I didn't want them to ruin my new favorite place. But I really loved the shrimp and the noodles were great, so I'm okay with the change.

upload_2019-1-30_7-58-48.png

DH got the noodles with chicken and a different sauce, I can't remember which one, but he enjoyed this.

upload_2019-1-30_7-59-51.png

Also had some free water to go with this. So this meal is still great and we will be going back for sure.

We headed off for our fast pass and then drove home. This was a super short trip, but it'll be one I'll never forget with that amazing room upgrade. Thanks for reading along!!

Thank you for taking the time to post the amazing pictures from your trip! As I type this I am drooling over the pictures in the food! The GF RPC is my all time favorite place to stay. To us, it is worth the price. Glad you had a wonderful trip!!!

It was so fun reading about your amazing upgrade!!!

My husband, my dad and I did the Wild Africa Trek in December 2016. It was really awesome to be "up close" and backstage on the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction! They took a ton of pictures during our tour, which were included in the price, and several of them were incredible shots as we walked over the crocodiles, etc. I'm not sure if it's changed at all since then, but we also had a lovely savannah inspired snack at an outpost as the sunset. It was incredible. I highly recommend it!

Sorry I'm just seeing your comment now! Thank you for reading along! I loved the food on this trip. This trip definitely spoiled me for future club level stays because it was so awesome.

I'm happy I could share it. It's definitely going to be the nicest room I'll ever stay at Disney that's for sure :)

Thanks for this! I really want to do it. I'm not sure when though. We are doing a quick weekend trip in April to use before our annual passes expire. We are going to Animal Kingdom that day, but I have it pretty full so I think this will have to wait for a different trip.

So good! The club level room looks incredible! And sounds like exactly what you needed when you felt a little under the weather.
Thanks for sharing your food reports too, I’ve been eyeing up Satuli for my August trip!

Thanks for posting your pics and info. I was really interested in your Wave review, as I made a res for July. With the terrible service, I am questioning changing it. Also, what your husband ordered is what I plan to order. In the pic, it looks really small. Was that a really big plate? It looks like 8 green beans, 1/2 cup potatoes, and a 4 oz hamburger-sized steak. But the bad service is really a problem.

I had ok service when we went for lunch maybe two trips ago, but my burger was blackened/burnt on one side, the side they put facing the bottom half of the bun! I am still mad about it because it was like they were trying to trick me :sad2: . I just had them take it off the bill. I haven't been back.

This is probably the nicest room I'll ever be in lol. If you have to be sick on vacation this is a good one to be in for sure. Definitely try and make it over to Satuli on your trip, you won't regret it.

The food wasn't served on a huge plate and I think if we didn't have the club level snacks before and after he would have still been hungry. The service was really disappointing, but I had to dissuade people from trying a restaurant. I think it's always good to form an opinion yourself because yours could be completely different from mine and the service might have been an off night, although they weren't really busy so not really sure what the excuse is.

Congratulations on your upgrade, very nice.
Thank you! I was completely blown away by it. Normally I can't even get my requests for a king bed so this was pretty awesome.

That sounds pretty awful.
