I'll add that Hilton makes it very easy to transfer and pool points. A Hilton Honors member can transfer up to 500k points per calendar year, and receive up to 2 million points each year. You can do this all online, there's no fee to do it, and points are transferred usually in about 24 hours. So, if anyone wants to take advantage of this promotion, P1 can buy up to 160,000 points pre-bonus (total of 320,000 with the 100% bonus), and P2 can buy just as much and combine them with P1 for a sweet redemption.

You do such a great job explaining things, Lain.:) Thank you for adding some helpful information... yes, that is the promotion I was referring to and I'm glad you added the link. Hope maybe it helps someone thinking about a 2020 Hawaii trip!

I completely understand...DH is always about 3 (or 4 or 5) trips behind since I have to just let him focus on the next one, lol. I, OTOH, am the opposite and stress if I don't have trips (even just roughly) sketched out for a couple of years...which is why I'm soliciting other peoples' ideas for 2021 😁

I figure more will get added in as time goes by. Things always seem to come up, depending on where DD will land when she is back in the US, friends and family who we need to visit, etc. So I try to leave room for that stuff. I also want DH to build back a decent bank of vacation days since he was forced to cash out and start at zero last month.

And as for 2021-2022, we are really up in the air as to what we want to do, so I can't plan anything because I can't even figure out what I want. :rotfl:

We have to get the baby a passport. I think for our toddler’s passport picture he is about 9 months old and I am thinking I will wait until at least 6 months to get one for little guy. It makes me laugh that they are valid for 5 years even that young.

All of this travel talk makes me want to book another vacation right now haha We do have two weekend trips coming up (VA, the smokies).

Fun TGIF question! Here's our future trips so far:

2020
March: San Antonio
May: Long weekend in Atlanta for a family wedding
June: 3 week trip that starts in WDW, then to Raleigh to visit new baby nephew, then DH and I will fly to Seattle, while my parents watch our kids at their house on Hilton Head. DH and I fly back to Hilton Head, then we all go home.
October: either Washington DC or Chicago

2021
March: WDW
Summer: Hopefully Hawaii
Rest is TBD

SW's no-fee cancellation lets me plan about twice as many trips as I otherwise would. DH is always nervous about committing to a trip, but he's totally willing to let me book something if I can cancel it for no penalty. By the time the trip approaches, he's usually on board. This is how the San Antonio trip made it on the list, and it's how DC or Chicago will make it too.

Love reading about the trips everyone has planned....
Our plans for 2020
In February DH turns 60...so having a hopefully surprise party for him...will fly our son up from Orlando for it...then go back down with him for a week...flying on SW points and the CP....have Marriott Royal Palms booked for a week...5 nights on Marriott points and 2 using URs

May...another week in Orlando visiting DS...Using SW points and staying at Marriott Grand Vista..booked with URs

September...Marco Island with friends...SW points and staying on their Marriott points in a 2br

October....Orlando with DD and her DH...again SW points..staying at BWV on our DVC points

With our DS living in Orlando...the majority of our PTO is spent visiting him

Wait...people are spending...$200-$300 on...headphones???? I think I am quite out of touch with normal people these days 🤣
Wow!!! I wish I got in on this deal. I'm looking for a good deal on Bose noise cancelling headphones. They work so well in the plane.
MyBose noise canceling headphones (earbuds really) were SO worth it for air travel! I’m sure I spent about $250 on them.

I’m in Orlando now. Will be back in the area for 3 weeks in Feb, visiting family part of the time, and back again in May and October. These are all solo trips as DH will be off on scuba trips. Family reunion trip to Wisconsin in July for memorial service for MIL who passed away in August, also really hoping for African safari in August or Sept. it’s great to be retired!

Well, as I posted earlier, I have a Vienna, Pargue, Budapest trip planned for late August 2020. So far I only have the flights to and from Europe booked. So I will have 12 days to allocate between these cities. I'm thinking 5 days in Vienna, 4 in Budapest, 3 in Prague. I still need to figure out intercity transportation and hotels. I have a ton of Marriott points and will probably have a significant amount of Hyatt points once DH hits his current spend...so thinking Park Hyatt in Vienna?

we took the train from Budapest to Vienna. I booked the tickets before we left home. Can’t help with hotels; we Airbnb both places

TGIF: I just realized we have zero trips that are actually booked, which means I need to get crackin!

2019: Trips done, with the last one being Disney for the W&D half 452888

2020:
NC Mountain getaway in Jan/Feb (need to book)
Scotland in ??? (Ugh I REALLY need to nail down dates and book flights but I’m trigger shy)

2021: WDW hopefully

Some thoughts on the Apple credit card that some of you were laughing about awhile back (I didn't read the responses... just skimmed the original post):

Hmm... this is from the personalfinance subreddit so I’m going to guess the replies go something like credit cards are EVIL! There might be a smattering of the Apple Card is the future; Apple can do no wrong! And maybe some Apple sucks, who takes Apple Pay anyway?!

Thank you. I don't want to do Airbnb given the amount of points I have to spend.

Thanks, you too! I know you're a big fan of NP too. I'm really not a Vegas person so we'll just hit some highlights and hopefully it will be warm enough for some pool time. I can't remember, is this your second try going to Glacier? First one cancelled because of fires? Enjoy! We went a few years ago...so pretty!!
Yes, this is my second try at Glacier. 2018 there were large wild fires at the time we were to go. That trip was planned for end of August which has higher risk of fires. I’m planning for early-mid July to hopefully miss the fires.

I am not into Vegas either. Will be spending 2 nights there in March mainly just so I can go to Valley of Fire and then fly out the next day.

Hi Everyone! I started reading Doctor of Credit a few years ago and jumped right into the fun of traveling on points. We usually spend a week at Disneyland every 2 years. Points have also taken us to San Diego and we have our first Hawaii trip planned for next summer. Our home airport is PDX. My travel party consists of Me, DH, and kids (13, 10).

Has anyone booked British Airways to Hawaii? It looks like I can transfer UR's but then I have to call and book over the phone? As the new date release is set for SW on Dec 11th, I need to make a decision. If I stick with SW, that would be going from PDX to somewhere in California.. have a layover.. and then off to Hawaii. So looking at least 9+ hours of travel. If I can somehow book Alaska Airlines with British Airways, then it would be non stop and way less travel time. Can you tell I am not a fan of long flights? 2.5 hours is usually my limit. :-) Thanks!
hey, welcome, pdx is my home airport too.
i looked into the british air ways to hawaii a couple of years ago and it just got too complicated for me. however my daughter in law flew her family on british/alaska. she loves her british airways card.
looks like both you and your husband could get an alaska card. i brought up a $200 credit plus 40,000 pts a week ago when checking out on alaska, not bad for alaska. you could get part way there on points or use the companion pass. you can't combine the 2 though.

March 2020
Chicago

June 2020
Ovations of the Sea Cruise to Alaska-2 days in Seattle before cruise

Food and Wine WDW
I haven't decided on Oct or Nov yet. It depends on what the F&W dates will be

2021
Yellowstone
Probably another Chicago trip (depends on when my brother and fiance decide on wedding date)
I would LOVE, LOVE to take my mom to Europe. She was supposed to go this year, but that trip fell through. We shall see where the churner game has led me to at this point.
