Maybe the cancellation is a blessing in disguise. If she’s having that hard a time mustering interest, maybe the money is better spent on a trip for Mom and Dad.

    Packing for a land tour?

Packing cubes! I pack a cube for each segment so that I’m not rooting through my whole suitcase. I also start packing way ahead of time so there’s no surprises about how things will fit. Finally, take way less than you think you’ll need, and clothes that can do double duty. No need to change for...

ABD or Tauck Bridges for London/Paris

The one we did, our daughter was technically a single traveler, as we got her a separate cabin and reservation. For which we paid no single supplement

ABD or Tauck Bridges for London/Paris

I would call and ask each about number on the particular tour you are talking about. We’ve been very frustrated with the steady creep upwards in group size on our ABDs. We’ve done a TB river cruise, so not exactly apples to apples, but had a great experience. Some things were better on TB, but...

Anyone else on the holiday Danube river cruise this December 2018?

Dusty just posted that he’ll be guiding on next week’s holiday cruise. Those of you booked on that one are in for a treat!

Holiday Danube River Cruise ABD vis Tauck Bridges. 7K price difference?

Double check the “everything included.” On our very fabulous Tauck Bridges Danube river cruise, all drinks at all times were included. I have seen mention that ABD river cruises only include some drinks at dinner. We did miss the guides sitting with us, but certainly not by $7000 worth. And...

For those of you that have visited Iceland

I agree - plenty to do. We did not get to everything, even with 2 days. There are opportunities to wander around and explore that an extra day would really allow you to enjoy, like the indoor flea market near the hotel that includes some wonderful local artisans who were fascinating to talk...

We have booked private half day tours with Paris Muse several times over the years. When DD was 11 she adored the kid-centric “If Buildings Could Talk” tour. We all did. The guide walked us through the history of the city pointing out all sorts of interesting things like the builders’ initials...

    Iceland pre-trip hotel question

There is only one route in Iceland. ABD does this day because they don't want to go all the way around the ring road (800 miles) that circles the island. So they go out as far as they can get in a day, then come back towards the main southern city to fly north the next day. If this were the...

So angry with ABD right now

Tink, we did a Tauck Danube river cruise for DD's high school graduation in 2016. It was so perfect. Because she was 18, we could book her a single cabin, and because it was Tauck and not Disney, we could do this with no single supplement. So we all had our own luxurious space There were a...

    Iceland pre-trip hotel question

It really wore us down. We felt so trapped. I hated how little movement we got each day as well. Several on our trip ended up marching in place while waiting in the endless restroom lines, or walking hotel hallways, to try to get 10k steps in each day.

So angry with ABD right now

All Tauck, once you’ve done one We are also about done with ABD, after our Iceland trip. We have a Tauck river cruise booked for next year, our second, and very happy to be using our gift of time prenight. This was automatically added for us, because unlike Disney, Tauck remembers that we have...

    Our Epic Iceland Adventure-July 14-21, 2-18-

Wow. Again, I feel like you visited an entirely different country than we did. I never saw sunshine and blue sky like that! What great photos with the rainbow!

    Our Epic Iceland Adventure-July 14-21, 2-18-

Exactly. I think we’re all responding to the same thing. Because Iceland is not a luxury destination per se, group size is an important factor. Where restaurants are not used to handling large groups, there can be problems. (Or where there is only 1 restaurant that can - we were horrified by our...

    Our Epic Iceland Adventure-July 14-21, 2-18-

Drew hurt his back on the departure right before ours. We had two Icelandic guides, Stefan and Julli. We adored them, and it was a wonderful experience to have a full on Icelandic viewpoint and to see these two friends interact and lead together. However, they kept reminding us the Iceland...

    Our Epic Iceland Adventure-July 14-21, 2-18-

I feel like you were on an entirely different, better version of this ABD than we were a few weeks later! The blue skies in your photos were MIA the week we were there. The lunch at the tomato farm occurred after the tour, so we were all starving by the time we fought with all the cruise ship...

    1 piece of luggage??

I think a lot depends on body type. I am tiny and backpacks that would work as carryons engulf me. I’ve been looking for years for one that would work but it’s tricky. The right size for my back is the little kid version! I love my international size roller bag though. It fits in the tiniest...

    Copenhagen: Short Escape Review

Thank you for this report. We are doing a Baltic cruise in May (not Disney) and my DD21 who is also an archeology minor will be with us. We are in the process of trying to decide how many post days to do on our own in Copenhagen, and what we will do. Your perspective is very helpful!

    Iceland Day 3 Change

I think it must be really dependent on the day...the day we did the rafting, the river guides apologized for the wind, which with temps in the 40s really made for a rather chilly time on the river. It's also probably as you say...some people just don't get cold, while I always do. It's so...
