Anyone else feeling nervous about these Boeing issues?

As for the OP, no, I don't really give it a second thought. Alaska has the only non-stop between SNA and PDX so it's not like we have a choice. SWA is the only airline to fly out of LGB so no choice there either. The places I fly to are too far to drive and as others have mentioned, that is...

DAS Outrage vs Genie Plus Outrage?

If this does pass, this is a drop-in-the-bucket compared to a lot of other CA regulations, not to mention the high cost of gas, food and lodging when you get here. We happened to notice the sign last night on our way out of SNA. Kids under 12 are free. This is clearly for business travelers...

DAS Outrage vs Genie Plus Outrage?

Paid line-cutting at airports? Maybe not much longer; https://www.politico.com/news/2024/04/22/california-bill-to-ban-clear-00153447 FWIW - the only airport I've ever considered using this at is SEA - that TSA line is AWFUL and is every time we go through there! JFK was bad too but once we got...

    Stressful Computer Games

Should clarify - "my youth" would be 80's. Video games were different back then. Games like Commando, Pole Position, Pac-Man, Donkey-Kong, Joust, Centipede, that era. Frustrating - yes, but stressful? Not as much as the FPS games my kids grew up with.

    Stressful Computer Games

We spent an afternoon here on a recent trip to Portland; https://www.nextlevelpinballmuseum.com/ You'd love it. All the classic video games from my youth plus more pinball games than you could ever imagine. If I had my way, this would be replacing the NBA experience in DS.

    Uber v Mears

We did Mears for our last trip (family of 5) and will not ever again. There is absolutely nothing "magical" about it. With some limo services (which would pencil out cheaper than Mears for us) they will even make a stop at a grocery store so you can stock up for your trip. The savings there...

    Reading Challenge/Goals for 2024

10/20 - "Wild", Cheryl Strayed. 5/5. Loved this book but it's a commitment - over 600 pages. Autobiography of a woman who hiked the Pacific Coast Trail ( a good portion of it anyway) with ZERO previous hiking experience. I found it in the bookstore in the Columbia River gorge where she...

Honest opinion. No Genie+ in June

We went during that time last summer. It depends on the park and how early your party can get to the park. Assuming you are going to rope drop, or at least get there in the first hour; DAK - don't need it. If you are ON THE ROPE, then go to FoP first, otherwise, do everything else first...

Tips for going through airport security with an 8 month old.

We never had any problems with formula or breast milk, but juice boxes are another story. Some airports let us right through, other airports made us dump it. Be prepared to unload the stroller and run the car seat through the x-ray machine. You don't have to go through the nudie scanners, so...

Would you go on a game show?

Does Amazing Race count? I've always wanted to do that. I think I'd do well with DD in college as my teammate. DD10 is a little young and I may be too old once she is old enough, but she loves the show as much as I do, so maybe...

    Which moderate?

I prefer POR. IMHO, the pool there is the best on property outside of BCV and it's just so pleasant. The multiple bus stops is NBD. Of the ones you listed I'd pick POFQ, but you are correct - the pool is not the best.

    I must be crazy……AUGUST?!?!

<knock wood> WDW has never taken a direct hit from a hurricane and the weather the day after the storm is amazing. I would never let a hurricane cancel my WDW trip. YMMV...

    I must be crazy……AUGUST?!?!

Regular summer travelers here. I dunno - I kinda like it. What's Florida without Florida weather? The key is pace - take it slow, don't let the heat get ahead of you. Carry lots of water. I wear a Camelbak and drain it every day, sometimes twice. Bring umbrellas, forget ponchos. An...

DAS Outrage vs Genie Plus Outrage?

It starts at $70 - they give you a return ticket with the time you would have waited. Their version of DAS works the same way. It goes up to $170 if you want to just skip the line - any line, all day. It works because almost no one uses it. Sure, people are skipping lines, but it doesn't...

    Fox rental car experiences?

Autoslash continues to be my best way to save money. If you plan far enough ahead it usually saves us >$100 on a week-long rental - sometimes a lot more than that. Costco is also good, but we've found Autoslash is even better.

Did anybody watch Billy Joel's concert special on CBS today?

This thread is proof positive that only the good die young.

    Fox rental car experiences?

It's been a long while but we used Fox once and only once, in CA. They tried to upcharge us for everything (admittedly, not unique to them) and then tried to charge us for cleaning when they alleged we had a dog in the car (we did not - dog was back at home, we were on vacation). That was...

    slo’s MONDAY 4/15 poll - Oceans 🌊

Love oceans, the wilder the better. Just got back from a short trip to the Oregon coastline (stayed in Cannon Beach). DD was freaked out by the Tsunami warning signs they put on the beach there. They have them in So Cal too but you rarely see them. They are everywhere in Coastal Oregon.

DAS Outrage vs Genie Plus Outrage?

Setting a really high price to skip lines is exactly what 6-Flags/Cedarfair did - and it works WAY better.
