I'm late catching up, but hope your Grandpa's doctor's are able to figure out what's wrong soon, if they haven't already got him all sorted out.

The Long Road to Run Disney

We have both taken a little over a month off from running. And I do literally mean ZERO miles. :sad2: I mentioned this to Maddy's friend's mom at the Thanksgiving lunch at the school a little over a week ago. She told me to try starting back with a mile a day steak and see how long I can keep...

Every Wish That We Put Into Motion.... (comments welcome!)

If you find your motivation, see if it has seen mine. Seriously, I have not run one mile since our race almost threw weeks ago. I am sorry about your uncle.

This is my training journal. I'm bad at titles. (Comments welcome!)

Your race report has me feeling all the feelings! You had an amazing race to cap off an amazing training cycle despite some less than ideal conditions. You should be so proud of yourself!

The unsolicited opinion of this internet stranger is that you are looking fantastic! I love your Minnie costume!

    Marathon Weekend 2024

SAFD: Our home has a few photos of us at Disney and a few small touches like salt and pepper shakers, but the biggest display is on top of my younger daughter's chest of drawers. We also will have A LOT of Disney ornaments on our Christmas tree.

I'm hoping for the best possible outcome for you in not the best possible racing conditions. You've done all the work and focused on everything you could control. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about the weather other than what you're already doing. I hope you can get a decent...

To Infinity and Beyond - Becoming a Better DopeyBadger (Comments Welcome)

I think fate meant for your MIL to meet the Trackers. I'm glad she had that much needed good experience. Your costumes turned out just amazing! I know it meant a lot to receive compliments for an actual costume designer! I think fall is my favorite season to travel. I love all the pumpkin...

The Long Road to Run Disney

Thanks!!! I guess I should say that it is getting rougher. It has been steadily getting worse since Hurricane Katrina when the public housing system absorbed so many people (apparently including members of two different gangs) that were displaced from New Orleans. The current mayor and police...

We did a lot and still managed to have some downtime. I'm already missing that hot tub!

The Long Road to Run Disney

All in, we spent a little less than $3100 on this seven day, six night vacation. Our biggest expenses were the cabin rental at $848, Dollywood passes at $429, the hotel room at $225 after Hotels.com rewards points were applied, and Aquarium tickets at $170. Rock City tickets were only $117...

The Long Road to Run Disney

We started Thursday as a repeat of Wednesday. I LOVE all the Halloween decorations! We headed straight for Big Bear Mountain as soon as the park opened at 10am. I bribed Scarlett to ride it with us once with the promise of face paint. She would only ride once so the rest of us took turns...

The Long Road to Run Disney

Wednesday and Thursday were the days we had planned to spend at Dollywood. I spent some time on a few Dollywood Facebook groups when planning this trip and I was advised to purchase one Gold Season Pass for an adult which came with free parking, 15% off most everything in the park, and two being...

The Long Road to Run Disney

We spent one more night at Springhill Suites before continuing on to our cabin in Townsend for the next four nights. Springhill Suites had a really nice complimentary breakfast which included biscuits, sausage, eggs, muffins, and oatmeal. We stopped at Hot Rod's Diner in Maryville for lunch...

The Long Road to Run Disney

After the race, we walked back to our hotel room and took turns showering. The four of us walked back downtown and had lunch at Burger Republic. I felt a bit queasy at first, but I was able to eat three sliders and a side of kettle chips. Maddy had a chicken sandwich and fries. My husband had a...

The Long Road to Run Disney

Maddy was the only female runner in the 11-15 age group. There were no runners younger than 11 and only five boys in the 11-15 age group so she was definitely one of the youngest runners out there. She is pleased with her finish time, although she does think she could do better next time. I...
