Any tips for booking airfare to the port cities?

Gotcha. We are still in the planning for airfare for a family of 4 phase. I would imagine planning for two adults would cut costs and increase flexibility in flight times. We cruised out of Port Everglades for the first time this January. FLL was easy to navigate and seemed calm when we...

Any tips for booking airfare to the port cities?

Just throwing it out there...would driving be an option? Leave after the ATL morning rush hour, get into Ft. Lauderdale just after dinner time, overnight hotel stay, park the car at a garage at the port. If we lived within a reasonable day drive of a port, we'd be cruising a heck of a lot more.

    New Furniture UGH!!

We tend to go to a huge local-ish (50 min drive, next county over) furniture store that has tons of display pieces plus an entire clearance building on their campus. Another place we've had luck is stopping into the smaller furniture places in our regional Amish country area. I will also stop...

    Standing Desk

DH has had his for about a month. He went larger in both width and depth than his previous set up (he went from a 30 x 60 to a 36 x 70) and it is working out perfectly since he can rest his forearms on the desk while standing. Some components that were on the floor have moved to the desktop so...

Did I make a big mistake? (stateroom and Enchanted Garden - Dream)

We just stayed in 2533 this January. The area in front of Enchanted Garden/midship elevators would get very congested before early dining...people were up the stairs to the first landing between the floors. We found this frustrating at times, but then realized how close the forward...

    Single parents

My kids aren't huge fans of the kids clubs (my oldest was in Edge on our last cruise and loved it---we had to tell him when "family time" was non-negotiable) but if we something scheduled they would go without complaint. On our first cruise, the oldest turned 10 the day before embarkation. He...

passports renewal and getting the "real ID card

Check to see if your local library system offers passport services. Ours does (including pictures for a fee) and it was a much more enjoyable experience than heading to the post office.

How many miles a year do you drive?

I'm in the under 10K camp, but just barely. We are a two car family with one person working remotely. Our public schools offer bussing if you live more than 1.5 miles away. The kids only do rec sports. The closest grocery store is under 2 miles away...I could walk.

    Which Deluxe Resort for a girls trip 3 adults (80s/50s/30s), 1 tween, 1 pre-teen?

The Riviera has a much smaller footprint than GF. Less walking, but less areas to hang out and explore at the resort. The lobby of the Riviera is underwhelming and the quick service is snug. There will only be skyliner transportation to HS and Epcot, not great if you have anyone that is...

    Question For Eclipse Totality Veterans

We were in totality yesterday. For me it was cool, but not life changing. I almost feel broken because it was not the amazing, earth shattering experience other people were having. It was neat to experience but pretty much what I expected.

What is your pet’s full name?

Our dog is named Cooper. When he was a tiny little puppy I called him Coopertino, as in little Cooper, not the city Cupertino, CA. So his middle name is now officially Tino. We call him Cooper, Coopertino, Cooper T, the Tino and tiny toes. When he is naughty and climbs on something he...

    Taking Uber to Port Everglades

We had a similar experience as the PP. We arrived at 11:30 for a 12 PAT. (Our pre-scheduled Uber was early) No backup/no traffic. Just be prepared to have some form of ID handy when you enter (and exit) the port area.

    slo’s WEDNESDAY 3/27 poll - Weighted Blanket

I got one as a gift and thought I would love it. At first I tried using it like a normal blanket, covering from feet to shoulders. I got very hot, felt like I couldn't move and the weight somehow aggravated joint pain. Now, I only drape it across my midsection/hip area and it's perfect for me.

Cruise length with little kids/ hurricane season

The DCL pools and Castaway Cay have an ample amount of life jackets. You will see a lot of kids wearing them. DS9 will swim for a while, but grabs a life jacket if he just wants to be in the pool and watch the movie on the funnel vision. The life guards are pretty vigilant too--moving around...

    Bringing old beer mug

I was replying to the poster I quoted who was speculating on the current cost of the mug. And actually you asked if they still had "it" not if they honored the mug vs only the token in your original post.

We booked an IGT and got a deck 2 Handicap Accessible room. It was huge, close to the midship elevator and the Enchanted Garden restrooms.

Am I crazy? Would you try this?

It is insanely easy to get from FLL to Port Everglades. If you had to fly in on embarkation day it would be the port I would be the least nervous about. Are there any direct flights from Vegas to Fort Lauderdale? Just throwing this out there...October is still hurricane season. You might...

    Guarantee Status vs. IGT/OGT/VGT

I prepaid my gratuities 22 days ahead of embarkation and later that afternoon my room was assigned. Could have been a coincidence.

    Fridge/Freezers

We have a French door fridge over freezer on it's last legs...we just ordered another French door fridge over freezer to replace it. We've never been a multiple fridge family but somehow got $100 off the new fridge if we added a free mini fridge to our order. DH has claimed it for his office...
