How to find your passion? (Career/life questions and thoughts)

I've successfully turned my passion (think creative, arty) into a career after previously working in an office job. I love it, but it definitely feels like work now! It's hard to be specific, but my recommendations would be to take some general interest classes in subjects you're keen on. Meet...

    Moving to UK next month

There is a healthcare surcharge for non-citizens (and their dependants) on work visas. These are paid with the visa application though, so I'm assuming if yours has been approved your company has already covered it: https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/how-much-pay

Do you regret your career choice? What would you have done otherwise?

I had huge regrets, which is why I decided to go for my dream job in my early thirties. It wasn't easy; I've had to relocate several times, run up some debts, and sacrifice certain areas of my personal life to achieve it. I'm now doing very well, and much, much happier. It's pushed back other...

    Ordering clothes that are Disney-esque.....Disney-ish?

The Canadian websites of Old Navy and the Gap Canada both sell Disney clothing (free returns!) as do H&M and Forever21. Amazon.ca has a limited selection. The Walmart Canada website is dire, but I can usually find Disney stuff in store. You can also order from JC Penny, Target and Kohls in the...

What do YOU want for Christmas?

Gift cards or cash. My job currently involves lots of travel/living away from home so I don't want anything that I have to carry!!

    Hawaii minus the water

I'm not a lay-on-the-beach person either and I spent 2 weeks in Hawaii and absolutely loved it. My tip: don't worry too much about pre-planning everything. The whole tourist industry there is set up to make it as easy as possible for visitors. I often called or booked stuff online at the...

Don't want to hurt my parents' feeings

I would be upfront, but maybe soften the blow by offering to spend time with them at a later/different date in a more relaxed manner. "Partner/kids and I are planning a solo trip to Disney. We didn't want to stress you guys out in light of your recent health problems so we thought we could do...

    Low-fat/low-cal portable snack ideas needed!

How about crackers? Count out a pre-determined amount so you aren't tempted to over do it. Do you have a fridge at work? Dill pickles are salty and crunchy, super low calorie, and a jar will keep you going for a while. If I'm desperately craving something "bad" I like those small bags of...

What do you sacrifice for Disney?

I would consider myself fairly budget-minded, but at the same time I will spend on things that improve my standard of living: $200-ish every 8 weeks for haircut and highlights. Beauty treatments before a trip or big events. Decent clothes that will last for years (mixed in with cheaper stuff)...

Universal v. Disney, fresh thoughts in my mind

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but I'd take Disney over Universal any day. The experience at Disney is a far more immersive one and it's one of the few holidays where I get that feeling of leaving the world behind. At Universal I never forget I'm in a theme park, even in the HP areas. Universal's...

    Stuffed Pretzels??

There were loads of jalapeno ones at Block & Hans on the weekend (... not that I ATE loads...). I think that's currently the only location. Sweet cream cheese is still available at The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland.
