Sadly I did call because I though the same thing as you and they confirmed that there is no availability for Thanksgiving or Christmas 2018. I tried to book for 2019 but they said that was not available yet. They did tell me to keep checking each month to see if anything opens up.

We were 16 minutes late for a fastpass last May and although they let us in they made it very clear that you can be 5 minutes early or 15 minutes late. However, if you talk to them before hand it probably won't be an issue.

We done it a ton of times and it has always been 15 minutes early. However the last time we did it was in 2015 so it could have changed.

You can be 15 minutes late for a FP. After that they will probably give you an issue.
