Our room was amazing!

What the heck was that about with VA and the credit card thing?? Did they get back to you when you emailed them? I've always had really good service with them so that's disappointing to hear. I think I would freak out if I was you! I guess it's a lesson in arriving at the airport nice and early!!

Urgh it was the worst! They did email back and apologise saying it was an error. They gave us some air miles to make up for it so that's something! We always have good service before too, hopefully it was a one off!

Hmmm....I thought I quote more of your post...guess I missed some! Didn't you say you were going back soon? Have you been yet? Inquiring minds what to know!

I always felt the same way about the MCO Hyatt growing up! haha I've actually stayed there twice now and really love it as an option outside of Disney for those random flight nights!

Super jealous of your flights - I usually spend my Canadian flights crammed into chair that doesn't even recline. With no food. Luckily this past trip cold medication plus anti-nausea medication made for a good nap!

I know they were amazing flights...a bit spoiled now! It's going to hard to go back to economy on our next trip!

Day 1, Part 1: Okay, I'm Just Going To Have To Live Here Now.

After going to bed a 9:30pm I was awake a 2am. I didn't feel good about it.

I drifted back to sleep and then I woke up again...at 3am. This time I felt better about it!

M was not having any issues sleeping so I tried to be quiet. I Face-timed dad back in England and showed him around our room. We chatted for about an hour before he had to go to work. As it was now 4am it seemed obvious to me it was time for a dance party!

Now don't worry, I had headphones on and those rooms are really big and soundproof M didn't have a clue what was happening. My little party lasted till around 5am then I decided that maybe this wasn't a good idea after all! So I sat on the balcony and people watched until M woke up.

M still wasn't feeling good so I made her some coffee before I had a shower and got ready. She wasn't happy about it but M also got up and ready too. We headed out of the room by 8am and made our way to the Magical Express! Eeek!

It was very quiet at the check in desk and we were the first ones on our bus.





Three other families joined us and about twenty minutes later we were off! Sadly the TVs were broken but the driver had the country radio station on instead.

We had four stops on our journey: Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, the Poly and Grand Floridian and so continuing my unintentional theme here are more out of the window photos from our journey!

TTC looks busy!

Then it was time. Cue the singing angels!

Our home for the next seven nights! The Grand Floridian!!

A CM with a tablet appeared as we de-bused and greeted us by name. M was very impressed and slightly confused by this, and even more confused when the friendly CM took us over the opposite side of the lobby to check in. Finally my months of hard work keeping a secret was about to pay off! I had told M that we were staying in a garden view room in one of the outer building when really I had upgraded us to club level in the main building!

M was very surprised and happy. Nailed it! Our lovely CM tour guide got us all check in, give us our Magic Bands and took us over the elevator!

She showed us how to us our MB’s to get up to Club Level and I won’t lie, I was freaking out...in a good way of course!

And then we got to our floor and oh my goodness...seriously I wish I could live in Club Level at the Grand Floridian. It is just too beautiful.

Our room wasn’t ready yet, but seeing how it was only 9am wasn’t exactly surprising! We would get an email with our room number once it was ready. But who cares! Club Level!! Urgh! I want to go back so bad!! We decided to call my dad and make him really jealous, aren’t we just the best? But the wifi wasn’t great at our table so we headed outside, into what felt like an oven! It was hot!

After making sure my dad was suitably jealous and before we burst into flames we headed back inside to explore more of CL, before we went off to explore the resort more.​

Then it was back to the lounge for more food! I mean it would be rude not to right?

As our room wasn’t ready yet we decided to go and pick up our resort mugs from the quick service, then we sat in the lobby for awhile.

Then back to the lounge! In the fancy elevator!



Oh I bought some new ears too! Then it was afternoon tea time!

It was so, so good! I’m using so many exclamation points but I can’t help it, it was that good!

Around 3pm as I was checking the app I noticed that we had a room number, still no email (spoiler the email arrived at 3am...the day we checked out!) but our room was ready! Our room was on the fourth floor and happened to be just a few steps away from the lounge. Score!

Man, can I just live at the Grand Floridian? Please?

I called for bell services to bring our bags up while M crashed out on the bed. She still wasn’t feeling great and really wanted a nap.

About 10 minutes later our bags arrived, and M was asleep! Now this is going to come a really big shock for anyone who knows my packing habits, but I actually unpacked our suitcases.

I know! Crazy! After I unpacked a had a shower and got changed, and then I had to be mean and wake M up. Usually I would just let her sleep and cancel our plans but tonight we had a big event to go to: Disney After Hours! It was the only one happening while we were there and lets be real it wasn’t cheap so we were going!

Luckily M was feeling much better after her nap, so she wasn’t mad at me waking her up. She got herself ready and we headed out to check the monorail. Magic Kingdom here we come!

Day 1, Part 2: Yeah, That Dance Party Was Definitely A Mistake!

We got to the monorail station and had our first experience with the new bag check set up. And I have to say I think it is much better system.

And after a very quick monorail journey we were greeted with this sign:

Just as we had made our way through the tap-stiles it started to rain.

​

As we were going to be in the park for a long time I made the executive decision to get us ponchos. I don’t have a photo of them because I am a terrible TR reporter. So there you go. Even though the rain wasn’t the best, it did have a very beautiful side effect. Rainbows!

Talking of beautiful….

I’m talking about the castle, not the guy in the Goofy hat (no offense Goofy hat guy).

I had booked some FPs but as we had gotten to the park later than I had planned we had already missed Space Mountain and our Splash window was nearly closed but we made it, which worked out well as we were already wet!

Lucky for us as we got out of Splash our last FP for BTMRR had opened up!

I love BTMRR, it is my favourite MK ride and this was our first time riding it in 6 years!

It was as fun as I remembered. We didn’t really have much of a plan so I checked the app and saw there was 10 minute wait on Haunted Mansion, sounds good!

In the queue my foot starting really hurting, I had bought some new sandals which had seemed really conformable but apparently if they get wet they become a rubbing nightmare (that sounded super weird..) which was no ideal. But at least Haunted Mansion was fun!

We then found ourselves in old Fantasyland, and you know what they say: “When in old Fantasyland go on It’s A Small World!”.

Our goodbye screen was having a rough day I think!

It was now about time for some Peoplemover, off to Tomorrowland!

By now my foot was really sore and I started limping a little.

I hadn’t mentioned my shoe issue to M and she was concerned.

So we decided to see if we could find some plasters to make the rubbing more bearable. We popped into a shop and bought some plasters and I had the brilliant idea for putting them on on the Peoplemover!

Well guess what? That was a terrible idea!

​

Peoplemover moves much faster than you realise when you are trying to do something, oh and there are more dark areas too which is super helpful when you need to see! But I managed to get the plasters applied and didn’t fly off the seat so winning! Peoplemover is still a classic.

Happily Ever After was ending as we got off Peoplemover.

Then After Hours official started! We hit Peoplemover again while the park emptied out of day guests.

Then we headed back over to Frontierland to start our Splash/BTMRR marathon.

We did each five times before we stopped to get some of the free snacks. Of course I forgot to take a photo of that. I’m sorry.

M really wanted to ride 7DMT so that was our next stop.

Look at those crowds! Packed!

Now everything else had been pretty much walk on but 7DMT had a twenty minute wait. We did it twice before heading over to Tomorrowland to do Space.

Again it was busy!

We had our own rocket.



M can only handle Space once so we didn’t try for another space flight. Instead we made our way back towards Splash.

It was so, so crowded!

Pirates was a walk on as we passed by, can you really pass that up?

It was around 11pm by the time we reached Splash and neither of us were feeling great. Damn you 4am dance party! We decided that Splash would be our last ride and then we would head out. Of course it might take awhile in that queue!

Splash as always was great, but it was time to leave. As we headed towards the exit I suddenly felt super sick on the bridge from Adventureland. Not good! I was so scared I was going to be one of those people who over do it and throw up in Magic Kingdom!

Spoiler, I didn’t! I managed to make out of the park without totally embarrassing myself, but all I wanted was to get back to the hotel and go to bed. Unfortunately for me that didn’t happen for a long time. We got to the bus stop at 11:25pm and back to the Grand Floridian until 1am.

When we did finally make it back we got soaked when the sprinklers turned on as we walked back to the lobby.

But we were back at the Grand so who cares! When we got into our room we saw that we had gotten turn down service.

And then I fell asleep!

First day at Disney completed! Even though I was really sick at the end of After Hours it was seriously such a good event. Pretty much everything was walk on and the park felt empty, it was wonderful. 100% if they offer it when we go again in December I would do it in a heartbeat. But this is just day 1, we still have some much more Disney fun to come! Stay tuned for day 2!​

Club level. Grand Floridian. Whelp, just a tab more luxurious than my last stay off site, lol! Thank you for sharing, I'll have something to strive for now. I'd imagine it would be tempting just to lounge around the hotel all day! Glad you both felt well enough for the after hours event - hope those sandals didn't cause more problems throughout the trip!

It was a really amazing trip! I wish I could afford to do it again but I didn't think that will happen!
We did spend a lot of time in the lounge and ate way too much food! But how could you not right?!
After Hours was really worth every penny, just walking around a near empty park is so cool! And those sandals started behaving better thankfully!

Day 2: I Regret Everything….

My original plan for today was EMH at MK at 8am, then breakfast at CL before we spent the day at AK (with our only FP for Navi River Journey) and finished off with dinner at California Grill. Well exactly zero of that happened.

After our late night at After Hours (and my stupid 4am dance party) I was feeling rough.

M was coping much better than I was and took herself off to the pool, while I stayed in bed trying not to throw up!

After she was done at the pool M hung out in the lounge for awhile before she came back to the room. Around lunchtime I was starting to feel somewhat more human (and hungry) so we headed down to the quick service.

I got a flat bread (isn’t it just a pizza though really?) and it was really nice.

M got a salad but I don’t take a photo of it, but this time I had an excuse ‘cause I was sick.

Before we went back to the room we stopped by the lounge to see what they had out.

Then we head back to the room.

And then I went back to bed. The end!

Yeah….day two was a bust. Being sick at Disney sucks! It gets better I promise! Stay tuned to find out if I actually leave the hotel in day 3!​

Day 3, Part 1: So This Is What Outside Looks Like!

M woke up bright and early at 7am (who is she I don’t know her) to go for a swim, I did not. I wasn’t feeling as terrible as yesterday but I still wasn’t 100% yet. Again my plan for today was out the window, no EMH at AK for me! Luckily this was more of a rest day anyway so we didn’t actually miss anything to important.

Around 7:40am M reappeared bearing Mickey waffles!

Waffles make everything better!

After my waffles I felt much better.

I’m telling you Mickey shaped foods are amazing! I wasn’t feel park ready but I was feeling Downtown Disney Springs ready.

We got ready and headed to the bus stop.

We finally had made it out of the hotel and to Downtown Disney Springs.

We did some browsing (and some serious damage in Sephora…).

Before we had lunch at D-Luxe Burger. I got the barbecue burger.

M got one with a fried green tomato on it, I have no idea what it was called and I am too lazy to find out!

And we shared the fries.

All in all I really enjoyed D-Luxe Burger.

After lunch we felt like it was time to head back, I still wasn’t feeling good and it was hot. See ya later Disney Springs!

Day 3, Part 2: Food, All The Food!

When we got back to the resort afternoon tea was out. Of course we had to partake of that! ​

​

We enjoyed our scones looking out over the lagoon.

Before heading back to the room to sort out our purchases (darn you Sephora!)

Then headed off for a nap.​

​

After our naps we watched some TV before getting showered and dressed. We had dinner at Narcoossee’s at 8:55pm, originally I had planned for us to watch the fireworks for the marina but we ended up watching them from our balcony instead.

As we headed to dinner we saw that the desserts were out.

It was hard but we resisted temptation before dinner but we managed!

Off we went to Narcoossee’s

We were seating pretty quickly and got our menus.

We ordered and our server brought us some bread.

The water pageant was going on as we waited for our entrees.

I ordered the Surf and Turf.

It was amazing. M ordered the steak and a side of Brussels sprouts (weirdo).

She loved the steak, hated the sprouts! Apparently they were too salty.

Neither of us were feeling dessert, but after seeing M’s birthday button wouldn’t take no for an answer so we ended up taking dessert to go!

We made our way back to our room, enjoying how beautiful the resort is.

And took our special elevator back to our floor.

Sadly desserts were finished in the lounge.

But luckily we had our dessert from Narcoossee’s!

With that we headed to bed! Goodnight!
