19 Magical New and Limited-Time Experiences Coming to Walt Disney World Resort in 2019

Now, more than ever it’s time to start planning your 2019 Walt Disney World Resort vacation, because there will be more to see, do, taste and experience here next year than ever before! Whatever your passion for Disney, there’s a big dose of pixie dust waiting for you at all four parks.

Love Mickey and Minnie Mouse? Want to get wild with “The Lion King”? Feel like playing with your Pixar pals? Or maybe live music is your thing? All this and more will be waiting for you next year. Here’s a glance at 19 new and limited-time experiences to look forward to in 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort!

Starting Jan. 18…

1. In honor of the true originals, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebrationwill bring new music, dancing and all sorts of other fun to Magic Kingdom Park.

2. For starters, the new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” at Magic Kingdom Park will invite you to dance with Mickey, Minnie and their pals in front of Cinderella Castle. Shake it along with live singers belting out new arrangements of classic “Mickey Mouse Club” songs.

3. The Dapper Dans and other entertainers on Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park will sing songs in honor of Mickey and Minnie.

4. Look for special Mickey- and Minnie-themed merchandise and food at Magic Kingdom Park to make this party complete.

5. And this is a Surprise Celebration, after all, so you can expect more Limited-Time Magicentertainment and other experiences to pop up periodically around Magic Kingdom Park.

6. The Incredibles are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as Pixar Place will transform into a Metroville city block.

7. At the end of the block, a party will be held in honor of Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible and Frozone to celebrate their Super deeds.

8. Meet the one and only Edna Mode – the greatest super suit designer! She will set up a special location on Pixar Place showcasing some of her best creations (no capes!).

9. Also on Pixar Place, look for clues to the whereabouts of the youngest Incredible, the mischievous and multi-powered Jack-Jack.

10. Elsewhere at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a door to the monster world will open inside Walt Disney Presents, where you’ll have a chance to meet Mike and Sulley from Pixar’s Monsters, Inc.

11. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Walt Disney Pictures’ “The Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom along with Timon and Rafiki in the “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” on Discovery Island. Let your inner animal roam free on the dance floor in this raucous party!

12. Also at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, have fun posing in front of special three-dimensional photo opportunities re-creating scenes from the animated classic.

13. The Epcot International Festival of the Arts is back! This year’s special event takes place Jan. 18 – Feb.25, allowing you to indulge in world-class culinary, visual and performing arts.

14. The Disney on Broadway Concert Series is expanding to seven days a week during the Festival of the Arts, so you’ll have even more opportunities to experience some Disney musical magic live on stage.

And later in the year…

15. Welcome spring’s arrival with the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, returning March 6 – June 3 with its wide selection of delectable bites at outdoor kitchens and dozens of Disney-themed topiaries blooming around the park.

16. Even better, this year’s Garden Rocks Concert Series expands, as well, to seven days a week during the Flower & Garden Festival, which means a total of 270 concerts over the course of the 90-day event.

17. Ka-Chow! Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy rolls into Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2019. In this new show experience, you’ll come face to face with Lightning and learn from his years of experience on the track.

18. Outside the Racing Academy, you’ll get to meet Lightning McQueen’s speedy pal, Cruz Ramirez.

And finally…

19. If you haven’t visited Walt Disney World Resort recently, then there’s even more for you to explore and experience. Become an honorary toy at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, travel to the bioluminescent planet of Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom or wish a fond farewell to “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” – the nighttime spectacular at Epcot– before its conclusion scheduled for the second half of 2019.

Dance parties must be quite popular.

A couple of questions. Is the Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration an actual event or a culmination of serveral things including move it shake it and dapper dans and such?

Regarding the Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy. Where is this going to take place? Is it replacing Frozen Sing A Long or something else?

1. I think that might be just the name of the event overall.

2. That was already announced to be taking place in the flex theater next to Rockin Rollercoaster.

AKA - "we are hoping to draw people to WDW in 2019 rather than letting them wait until 2020 after SWGE opens." heh

19 "new" experiences are a stretch .. especially considering some of them were split into separate line items --
Like transforming Pixar Place into an Incredibles zone (which seems like GREAT use of that space) is just one thing . .not 4 different things.

Good time to get an AP -- these type of little, but still fun experiences are great when you have the extra time multiple trips give you.

But like was said above ... WDW really seems to love their dance parties! :)

Really surprised at the two new experiences at DHS (Incredibles and Lightning McQueen) .. you'd think Toy Story Land would be enough of a draw to that park until SWGE comes around. I would expect them to stay after SWGE to help disperse the crowds.

One thing I will say in favor of dance parties is they create more activity in an area and I think motion and activity brings more life to areas ... so while I didn't stop at the Incredibles Dance Party they had in Tomorrowland it brought more "life" to that area and I think that makes areas seem more fun vs just a space full of a doors to various indoor atractions

I posted this in the news thread -- one of our favorite memories of MK recently (2015) was the Incredibles Dance Party as we were winding up the night. Just a fun way for the kids (preschoolers especially) to be silly and see some of their favorite characters " in action".

When my kids were little, they loved all things dance party with characters. I think this is a winner for families with young kids. Personally, I would love to see more "adult" dance parties, such as Club Villain.

I can't wait for them to announce their Flower and Garden concert series. I've really been thinking about getting an AP, and just need the excuse of multiple trips...

And I agree that 19 "experiences" is a stretch. I count like 6.

WDW Boss: Johnny, we need to bring more people into WDW in 2019, since everyone is waiting until SW opens in 2020.

Johnny: Sure thing boss. Let's throw a bunch of dance parties and meet and greets and call them "experiences." We'll add the regular "experiences" we usually offer, such as Flower and Garden, make them add up to "19" and guests will be coming in in troves!

WDW Boss: I love it! Can we also make some more money off this?

Johnny: Sure thing boss. Let's add some new Mickey cupcakes, call them "experiences" and sell them for $5.79 each.

WDW Boss: You are promoted!

Although it’s unlikely...

I’d love to see Pixar place turned into a permanent Metroville block. It’d be awesome and a great use of the space. I think Pixar place is in too good of a location to be nothing.

Is there any room for an attraction there? Don’t think there is and obviously it won’t happen but I’m thinking theoretically

Dance parties and characters. Great for kids and adults that enjoy that.

Wow good thing I decided to stay in line for star lord this past trip! Although great now I can’t get Rafikis autograph now with him being in the dance party. It does sound all characters to me, which isn’t a bad thing it’s just how this press release was set up without stating the big obviouses of galaxy’s edge and runaway railway

They are just trolling us now.

Well, when people make it a thing to pose in front of a purple wall and post it on instagram, you can't really blame Disney for adding lame photo opportunities and calling it exciting...:rotfl:

LOL I didn't think about that, I guess that's true! I'm not a true Disney fan, I don't even know where the purple wall is, so even if I wanted to pose with it holding my overpriced Purple Wall Slush wearing my official Purple Wall hat, I couldn't.... for shame.

Wow, they've really stretched those experiences out. I like the Incredibles going into Pixar Place. Great use of a dead area. I'd be fine with with it being perminant but then I feel it isn't doing them justice.

Is there more space within the building that used to have the buzz and woody meet and greet which they could use?

This and the racing acedemy could stay full time. It can't help think it's just to help through the other side of the 50th

I feel like this is really about eight new experiences (I haven't done the math) stretched out into 19. I don't have a huge issue with any of these, but it does feel a little desperate to make this type of announcement. Especially when you consider some of the recent cuts, adding different things, some that aren't new announcements, seems weird.

It seems that my wife's daily letters and emails to Disney World asking for them to bring back Sulley have finally succeeded :) HAHA! :rotfl2:

Is Pixar place going to go into SWGE when it opens? or loop around into TSL? Or be a dead end?

Dead end would fit in nicely with the rest of that park! Keep the theme going.
