2 Shore Excursions at St. Thomas?

My husband and I went on the Eastern Cruise in 2001 but didn't do any excursions. This year we want to, but aren't sure what.

Has anyone tried to do two shore excursions at St. Thomas?

We are wanting to do the Island Tour at 12:30 but would also like to snorkle before (possibly the Doubloon Sail and Snorkle at 8:15am).

Would it just be better to stick with the Island Tour and adventure out on our own for shopping and snorkling?

Any ideas or experiences would be appreciated.

Also, we would love to hear any comments on doing "Under 2 Flags Island Tour" and "Golden Eagle Catamaran" at St. Maarten.
