A question for Julie or Corey - NOLA related

Julie and Corey,

I'm going on a business trip to New Orleans soon, and I was wondering if you, or anyone else, has a few restaurant suggestions? I'll be staying on Canal St. and will be using cabs, if necessary. I've never been there before and neither has my co-worker.

Thanks! :)

Lisa

There are some great restaurants in the French Quarter, depending on the type of food you're looking for.

Emeril has a restuarant called NOLA that's outstanding. Brennan's is an old stand-by ... we like having breakfast there, they serve a 3-course fixed price menu that includes dessert! If you go there have the bananas foster - it's incredible!

You could splurge and have lunch or dinner at Commander's Palace - that's in the Garden District and they have just incredible food. Try the turtle soup and have the bread pudding souffle for dessert!

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

I recommend Mother's Restaurant for old fashioned breakfast. You can probably walk there depending on where you're staying on Canal Street. It's on the corner of Poydras Street & Tchoupitoulas! Close to Harrah's Casino.

Mr. B's is a great place for lunch. It's in the French Quarter - somewhere around Royal Street, about a block off Canal St. Gumbo Ya-Ya is delicious!

Commanders Palace is also a great place, however you will need a cab to get there. It's closer to uptown. Probably less expensive for lunch than dinner. If you go, ask for a table in the garden room upstairs by the window! Beautiful view.

Another cab ride would be Deanie's Seafood for dinner. You can get boiled crawfish, or delicious fried seafood. (It's really close to the infamous 17th Street Canal - however, the Katrina flood was on the other side)

Have fun! The weather is beautiful now!

Ok, so I am a little late in my suggestions, but I agree with some of the other posters. Deanie's Seafood is among our favorites, Emeril's is great and Brennan's.
I would also suggest Acme Oyster House, 724 Iberville and Cafe Du Monde, of course, at the French Market, 800 Decatur St.

If I think of any others, I'll post them!

Ok, here are a few more!

The Palace Cafe, 605 Canal St.

Zea Rotisserie and Grill, 1525 St. Charles, try the Thai ribs and corn grits.

Last, but not least, Superior Grill for Mexican food, 3636 St. Charles.
