A Tipsy Tenth Dining Adventure - Completed 9/28

  Who invited all these people to Disney anyway!
I know, right? It is my vacation after all. How dare they show up?

UM WHAT! My brain probably wouldn't have come up with a quick response either.
Mine was so slow. I'm normally ready with a comeback for just about everything but this one just knocked the snark right out of me

:confused3:confused3 I have so many questions here. Shouldn't she know that's not the case if she worked there? And even in a bar, I wouldn't reach across perfect strangers to take peanuts.
All good questions. All things no one will every understand. Definitely my weirdest Disney experience ever

Ugh patients do this to me all the time and it makes my skin crawl! Unless you're like a 90 year old harmless grandpa, not ok!
And this guy was definitely not a 90 year old grandpa. He was a 50 year old in need of some sensitivity training :P

Came here by searching Nomad’s reviews. I had already read this review but not with the intentions of going to Nomad’s, I just love your reviews. So having reread this, I think the cauliflower sold me on nomad’s for our dining reservations in AK 😍.
If you came searching for Nomad's than you are in the right place. Clearly we have a bit of a problem on that front :drinking1

Nomads is the perfect place to go in AK. Its great to just pop in somewhere casual, but also beautiful, and order some amazing drinks and food. The cauliflower really is one of the best things they have. And note its an "enhancement" on the Tiffins menu but you can order any of those or the Tiffins appetizers in Nomads

I'm going with you! Everyone kept saying to me that week, "aren't you glad you're not down there right now?" And I'm like, "No! I wish I was!"
I know, me too! Jason and I were watching wait times and couldn't believe it. Tell Mike he better get ready

Honestly, it’s why we decided to go leading into President’s weekend. The low crowd times haven’t paid off for us. We will just need to be on hurricane watch in a really weird Disney way!
May a hurricane watch come in February :P Thankfully we all go enough that crowds are what they are and there is always something else to do

Blimin heck
My tipsy report continues to prove as much cathartic as it is educational. Goal for tomorrow is to work blimin into a sentence :P

I do have a confession to make though as I once ate a frie off what I thought was my order while waiting at McDonald’s for a plain burger for my son only to have a girl beside me ask if I was enjoying her meal!:scared1::scared1::scared1:
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'll forgive the McDonalds and focus on the fry. At least you did it accidentally and didn't work there. Purposeful cast member all over my chips :P

scundered
And the education goes on....This one may be harder to use but I think I'm up for the challenge

I’ve loved this report of yours as always but I especially love this photo. Thanks so much as always for keeping me entertained. Looking forward to the next tipsy tour :thumbsup2
My kiddo is certainly an entertaining one. And thank you for entertaining and educating me!!!

Goal for tomorrow is to work blimin into a sentence
Did you manage it?
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'll forgive the McDonalds and focus on the fry. At least you did it accidentally and didn't work there.
This is true though it still provides my lovely sibling with hours of entertainment! :rotfl: :rotfl::rotfl:
And the education goes on....This one may be harder to use but I think I'm up for the challenge
I reckon you’ll have no problem with this one as it not only means embarrassed beyond belief it can also mean bored as in “it took the MK bus so long to arrive I was scundered waiting on it!” I’m now going to have to find a way to use the word grody just to balance things out:rotfl2::thumbsup2
My kiddo is certainly an entertaining one
She is one of a kind that girl! I heard she ate a cricket and I am in awe!!:worship:
And thank you for entertaining and educating me!!!
Right back at ya! Do you think we could get funding for a mutually educational trip to Nomads?? I bet we could invent a whole new language after a couple of beverages (or at least anew cocktail or 2):drinking1:thumbsup2

Ribs and Rangoon-gasms and Rice, Oh My

Two mixed drinks in on a relatively empty stomach for me is a sure fire sign that some tipsy notes are about to be laid down. But where were we going?

MORIMOTO ASIA!!

Jason and I had eaten at the bar one solo night when Disney still had the child care centers (yes still bitter, “thanks” again Disney). We loved it and were excited to share it with our little sushi lover.

We were seated right away and I’d forgotten how beautiful this restaurant is. It may even rival Flying Fish for the top honor.

Our server – Jesus – was our best of the trip and gifted Casey with a special drink.

Per my notes this was lemonade with boba balls and “fern” tea. Unless drinking ferns is now a thing I’m gonna go with it was green tea.

I was done with the mixed drinks so I settled on a Kirin Ichiban draft, which is one of my favorite beers.

Jason got some kind of IPA that I’m sure he liked and I hated.

With such a large menu we decided we would each pick two items and share everything.

Up first we have a Jason pick, the Shisito Peppers which are flash fried with yuzu sea salt and wasabi crème fraîche.

My notes: “Peppers mostly not hot bread a few were creamy sauce with wasabi help cut through good accompaniment but don’t want by self as good appertid”

Translation: Not sure why I thought this was bread, but these weren’t as spicy as I expected them to be but the wasabi sauce added some good heat. I wouldn’t want to eat this by itself but it’s a good app. They were even Casey approved!

Casey’s convinced us that two sushi rolls really was just one order so she picked the California Roll - blue crab meat, avocado, cucumber – and the Spider roll – and tempura soft shell crab, spicy mayo, & asparagus.

The spider roll was typical sushi, but good (no translation needed on that one) but as for the California Roll.

My notes: Good kick better than inositol cram
Translation: It had a good spice to it and the real crab was way better than the imitation stuff. Speaking of way better, I think Casey's far off model stare is really getting good :P

Casey’s other pick was the Morimoto Spare Ribs with are pork ribs, cilantro, and hoisin sweet chili glaze.

My notes: amazingribs best ever had tender and. Risky and love sweet sauce

Translation: These are no risky ribs, they are amazing and the best I’ve ever had. I mean ribs are already good, but then fry them and toss them with a sweet chili glaze, yes, please, and thank you! They are simultaneously crispy, tender, and the sweet sauce is delicious.

For my picks first up we have the Kanikama Rangoon which is krab meat (not the real stuff this time around) and cream cheese spring roll with an apricot sweet chili sauce.

My notes: cross between rangoosnsns and spring roll love sauce much better than typical ones more xo pleat creamy and crabby
Translation: These things can cause a serious Rangoon-gasm. They are a cross between a typical crab rangoon and a spring roll and are simultaneously crispy and crabby. The sweet chili was much better than a typical one with the addition of the apricot. I got nothing on “more xo pleat” but really who doesn’t love a good pleat?

I also picked the Pork Dumplings with pork, napa cabbage, and scallions.

My notes: Dumplings could have used more but Jason describe wrapped as ethereal as it stood up to meat ina wY that most just over power need 10 more
Translation: I never met a dumpling I didn’t love and my only complaint was I needed like ten times more. Jason actually called these ethereal as the actual wrap stood up really well to the meat, where most of the time it is just overpowered.

And the piece de resitance of our entire meal, the Morimoto Buri-Bop which is a korean-style yellowtail rice bowl served in a hot clay pot, finished with egg yolk, and prepared tableside.

My notes: Vito boo amazing cook in front of u mushrooms if good flavor from iron Chex 450 defeee bowl mix everything up tuna cook on outside cold but could have done wjrvohr rice is Star love Charles bits from tsk hit part pour sauce on top

Translation: “Vito Boo” is one of the best rice dishes we have ever had, despite having mushrooms in it. A chef cooked it right at the table in a 450 degree clay pot and she explained that this is a dish Morimoto had made on an episode of Iron Chef. The tuna was slightly cold still, despite being cooked at 450 degrees, but honestly this dish doesn’t even need the tuna. The real star is the rice which gets almost burnt in the pot so you have these amazing crispy rice bits. 6 months on I don’t recall what the sauce was, but apparently it was amazing too. From this dish it was evident why he’s an Iron Chef!!!

And I couldn’t forget that during our meal Casey traded in food modeling for some utensil modeling

#Chopsticks

#Chork (a chopsticks/fork combo they gave her that was everything)

In case it isn’t evident between the Rangoon-gasms, Vito Boo, and Risky Ribs this was a tremendous meal. Casey rated it a 10,000 out of 10 which is clearly saying a lot. Our server was fantastic, the food all delicious, and ribs and a rice dish that all others will now be judged against. My only complaint was how fast the food came out. I like a long leisurely meal and everything was on our table within 15 minutes of ordering. Next time we’ll space it out so this doesn’t happen. With our tables in wonderland card we saved $30.20.

And from these awesome notes, any guesses on what we did the rest of the night???

Uber back deuces from Venezuela went they epxog parking big sweet

Casey don’t really get cupcakes Jason like his cookie one Casey cook marchmelllow

Me banana very moist but not as much banana dlacs as like but very good

Figure this should help.

Up next, 9 days of birthday fun finally gets to my girl and like any responsible parent we just drink our way through it
OMG - LMAO!!!!! Haven't read your posts in a couple months. dying here!!! your note deciphering could be a great game show... and I love how Casey just goes with the flow - great posts!!!!! and btw we LOVE Morimoto too!!!!

Ants, Kegs, and Tekarkana

We’d last left off after a few drinks and a little girl not too happy with her parents at the Brown Derby Lounge

(Couldn’t help but post this gem again)

From there we were able to pick up a Test Track FP for Epcot so we boated over there for the rest of the day.

Along the way we ran into these guys

Who should have been scared of taking photos with this crazy crew.

Eventually we soared around the world before making our way to the world we really cared about. The one that served DRINKS!

As we entered the World Drinkcase Casey checked out her artwork from a few days prior.

While we checked out Choza de Margarita and got the Fuego Verde margarita with Gracias a Dios Mezcal, Jalapeño, Cucumber, Fresh Lime Juice, Agave Nectar and Black Ant Salt rim.

Totally missed this had black ant salt but even that couldn’t save it from being completely unremarkable. It did have a slight heat and some smokiness from the mezcal but otherwise was $15 worth of pre-mixed sugariness. Jason was all worked up about this one.

From there it was a quick hop, skip, and a jump to China where Jason found this "special" item.

How has there not been a run on these yet?

And then Casey spied a special item of her own.

Chinese Cotton Candy!!! This had just come out that day I think and while it was more instagramable than good, she was clearly a happy camper.

Speaking of instagramable here is the before.

And after of the Cotton Candy.

Am I the only one picking up on anatomy vibes? 👙 Not sure these are Disney approved:P

Minds out of the gutter we stopped in Germany for a Schofferhoffer for which I have no physical evidence before arriving for dinner at Via Napoli.

And now ladies and gentleman I am pleased to present the last version of tipsy notes for this trip.

Pitcher moronni at first

We started with a pitcher of Moretti not, “moron” ni which would make an interesting name for a beer though.

Calamari good nice dry sauce slightly spicy need kegs

Translation: We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and liked the slightly spicy sauce, but it was just calamari rings and we are more of a legs (and kegs for that matter) kinda family. Bring on the tentacles!!!

Go out a limb and get large puppy pizza miss truffle br still delicious tons of peppys and much better than normal crust excellent chew add all but 1 slice

This one is pretty self evident (sans the whole eating puppy things) and we went out on a limb and ordered a large pepperoni pizza to share. While I immediately regretted not ordering the carciofi, this was a dang good pepperoni pizza and as usual the crust was excellent. We polished this off and left only one slice.

Jason MORE beer and me glass of Nemo

Translation: I did not in fact drink Nemo with my puppies, pretty sure this was a glass of Nero.

Lots of visits from girls and Casey to them. Good new serve more assertive then use. Save 20.80

Ariella (@StarWarsMomofGirls!) and her family were also at Via Napoli and the girls all took turns going back and forth between our tables. Overall we had a good server who was new and not yet hating all of the Americans so he was more attention that usual. We saved $20.80 with our tables in wonderland card.

Leave via innie gate and ample hills cab try anything u want. J and I split ooey gooey and oatmeal dds best ice cream ever had ooey taste like real thing with pieces of cake and oatmeal feast Texarkana.

Translation: So we left via the International gate and stopped at Ample Hills. After lots of free sampling Jason and I split the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and Nonna D’s Oatmeal Lace. This was unquestionably the best ice cream we had ever had and I don’t really even like ice cream. I travel to St. Louis often which is the home of Ooey Gooey Butter cake and this was the real deal with chunks of cake in it. I’m pretty sure we liked the Oatmeal too and its good for feasts in Texarkana?

Casey ooey foowyband topping

I got nothin’ other than Casey got her own.

Uber back great driver quote anchor man Wine and whiskey and pool
View attachment 431650
No translation necessary though I’m pretty sure there is a country song somewhere in there.

Up next, our last day and beware of grubby cast member fingers
:P
We had the Oatmeal Lace at Ample Hills in NYC!!! It could very well be one of my favorite ice cream flavors EVER. We probably had three cones during our long weekend there back in MAY! :) still cracking up over Casey's photo alterations of you guys!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While Mama got her dumplin’ on.
We've gotten these, they are a decent snack to tide one over until one's proper meal :snooty:
The menu did not mention these nasty little funguy were in the veggie mix. Needless to say no veggies for me.
Surprise!
While we were eating some random British girl came up to the table and says oh is that the buffalo chicken dip. Before I could say answer she was reaching her hand into our bowl and EATING OUR CHIPS!!! I was so taken aback all I could muster was did you just eat my chips??? She was immediately mortified and began to apologize. Turns out she was a cast member who worked in the restaurant and thought the chips were like peanuts at a bar and out for everyone to eat. Maybe that’s a thing in the UK :confused3 Anyways she was very apologetic and even brought Casey a brownie from next door to make up for it.
This was super funny and icky when you told me about it and even funnier and ickier reading about it  So in the UK you just walk up to random tables and stick your hand in the complimentary peanuts/pretzels on someone's table? I understand at a bar but on a table??? I would have loved to see your faces after this happened lmao!

As always love your reports and can't wait for the August one, especially since I came in at the tail end 🍸

Thing or not, NOPE!!! Just no

Overall a good but sad last day! Looking forward to the next report as always!

Looks like a mostly great last day . Looking forward to the next tr .
Mostly. So long as being called sweetie and someone eating your food doesn't bother you :P

Did you manage it?
Blimin I didn't (does the count?)

A word that simultaneously means embarrassed and bored, now that is a new twist.

She is one of a kind that girl! I heard she ate a cricket and I am in awe!!:worship:
That she did! I'm slightly biased but she certainly is one of a kind

Right back at ya! Do you think we could get funding for a mutually educational trip to Nomads?? I bet we could invent a whole new language after a couple of beverages (or at least anew cocktail or 2):drinking1:thumbsup2
I like the way you think! Maybe we can put in for some sort of international grant for a summit at Nomads to compare cultures, language and cocktails :drinking1

OMG - LMAO!!!!! Haven't read your posts in a couple months. dying here!!! your note deciphering could be a great game show... and I love how Casey just goes with the flow - great posts!!!!! and btw we LOVE Morimoto too!!!!
Love the game show. Maybe we can get Wink Martindale to host and I'm sure it would be a hit!

Oh and a bit of foreshadowing our love for Morimoto goes down after our last trip

I had no idea they had Ample Hills in NYC. We were there last year and I so did not know this. Definitely need to find a hotel near an Ample next time we go

We've gotten these, they are a decent snack to tide one over until one's proper meal :snooty:
They are but I much prefer the fries. Will stick to those next time

No I'm pretty sure that is not a thing in the UK. I have no idea at all what possessed her to do this. I should have sent a note to Disney and see what kind of response I would have gotten. She was off the clock but I'd love to hear what they think about CMs eating guests food

Thing or not, NOPE!!! Just no

Overall a good but sad last day! Looking forward to the next report as always!
Just no sums it up perfectly. Certainly an interesting way to go out.

Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! Seriously this is not a thing :rotfl: She was just a rocket who wanted Kari's chips and was too cheap to buy her own I reckon!:confused3:rotfl::scared1:
Rocket. Word #3!!!! Oh and by the way are you sure this CM wasn't related to you :earboy2:

Blimin I didn't (does the count?)
you need to add heck in there “ blimin heck I didn’t “ Heck always follows blimin unless you use the h e double l word :rotfl:
A word that simultaneously means embarrassed and bored, now that is a new twist.
We’re a thrifty lot us Irish. Lots of double meaning words :rotfl2:
That she did! I'm slightly biased but she certainly is one of a kind
she’s a wee superstar and you should be so proud ( I’m sure you don’t need me telling you that )🌠
I like the way you think! Maybe we can put in for some sort of international grant for a summit at Nomads to compare cultures, language and cocktails :drinking1
Now there’s a plan!
Oh and a bit of foreshadowing our love for Morimoto goes down after our last trip
Oh no I haven’t even gotten there yet! You have to go back so they can redeem themselves :)
No I'm pretty sure that is not a thing in the UK. definitely not!I have no idea at all what possessed her to do this. I should have sent a note to Disney and see what kind of response I would have gotten. She was off the clock but I'd love to hear what they think about CMs eating guests food
Oh go on please send a letter so we can all hear what they make of it! Just for the craic:rotfl:
Rocket. Word #3!!!! Oh and by the way are you sure this CM wasn't related to you :earboy2:
:rotfl:I honest to God hope not! DId she claim she thought they were her chips and she was waiting on the rest of her order??? We’re her loving family members falling off their seats while laughing loudly in the background!!! If not she likely didn’t belong to me :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Another entertaining trip report!

Your “luck” with eating at AK this trip - cast members eating your food and diapers being changed on tables - will hopefully be a once in a lifetime experience 😜

I’m with you on the crowd levels. I was just there last week and couldn’t believe how busy it was. I opted for a lot of relaxing and drinking by the pool time at WL. Not a bad thing at all, of course

Can’t wait to read about your recent trip!

9 days out until my next WDW trip and I am all caught up on my FAVORITE Disboard food blogger:cool1:!!! Hey Kari, I love your report so far and I'm going back to catch up on all your trips (I'm somewhere in 2017).

I stopped into Nomad Lounge on my last trip, but didn't order anything :rolleyes2 (it was really hot and we were trying to get to the next ride we had planned). This trip we are trying to be more relaxed (someone say a prayer for me because Disney brings out my inner child and I just want to go go go :jumping3: and that's fun. Going for only 5 days at a "relaxed" pace makes me feel I am missing something. #firstworldDisneybratproblems) and we are DEFINITELY going to stop in at the lounge for a drink. I thought I was set on the Lamu Libation, but now I have the Mustang Coffee and Annapurna Zing to add. I guess I'll have some tipsy tales as well. :drinking1

Casey is getting so big OMG, and the girl has class, sass and great taste! Always good to see you guys having so much fun. Great report. :thumbsup2

Enjoyed your report as always and of course you have added some things to my “try” list. Maybe even those buffalo chicken chips, but only if a random will eat some off my plate. I mean, that had to be a dare right? Was there anyone snickering in the corner? Otherwise that poor girl has completely lost it, I’m afraid.

Despite my better judgment we skipped appetizers and went straight for the entrees.
We have trouble finding entrees we like so the last time we ate at Yak & Yeta we each had our own serving of pot stickersand shared the fried rice. It worked out really well. :)
Ugh I didn't even think of that. Clearly my lot in life is never to have my own meal.
You'll have to start asserting your right to have food "all to yourself". I would think Casey would want that, too, although she probably gets better food when she shares it. ;)

I'm finally caught back up again. (I didn't even bother trying to multi-quote cuz I knew I had a fair bit to read.) But I missed your tispy notes in my life, so I'm bad I got back to catch up on some of them. I'm also looking forward to hearing about the trip you just got back from last month!

you need to add heck in there “ blimin heck I didn’t “ Heck always follows blimin unless you use the h e double l word :rotfl:
Blimin heck. Heck blimin. Blimin heck. Heck blimin. I'll eventually get the hang of this.

she’s a wee superstar and you should be so proud ( I’m sure you don’t need me telling you that )🌠
I don't, but positive reinforcement is always a good thing :P

Oh go on please send a letter so we can all hear what they make of it! Just for the craic:rotfl:
A few more glasses of wine and I just may do that.

:rotfl:I honest to God hope not! DId she claim she thought they were her chips and she was waiting on the rest of her order??? We’re her loving family members falling off their seats while laughing loudly in the background!!! If not she likely didn’t belong to me
Why yes, yes she did. And I definitely heard some laughter. :rolleyes1

Your “luck” with eating at AK this trip - cast members eating your food and diapers being changed on tables - will hopefully be a once in a lifetime experience 😜
Let's sure hope so. Though I think a cast member changing a diaper on the table I'm eating at may eclipse them both :P

I’m with you on the crowd levels. I was just there last week and couldn’t believe how busy it was. I opted for a lot of relaxing and drinking by the pool time at WL. Not a bad thing at all, of course
Not bad at all. Sadly it was so hot in August even the pool was hotter than hades. But at least the drinks were always cold.

9 days out until my next WDW trip and I am all caught up on my FAVORITE Disboard food blogger:cool1:!!! Hey Kari, I love your report so far and I'm going back to catch up on all your trips (I'm somewhere in 2017).
Hey stranger!!! Let me know how 2017 is. If I recall we'd adopted a "child" and got our pirates on.

I so get the go, go, gone but one step inside of Nomads Lounge and you'll just wanna be, be, be.

thought I was set on the Lamu Libation, but now I have the Mustang Coffee and Annapurna Zing to add. I guess I'll have some tipsy tales as well. :drinking1
I'm not a big rum drinker so the zing is my favorite, but I've tried just about everything on the menu and there isn't a bad drink in there. Have an amazing trip!!!

Casey is getting so big OMG, and the girl has class, sass and great taste! Always good to see you guys having so much fun. Great report. :thumbsup2
Ah, thanks so much!!!

No, no one snickering in the corner she just out right did that. Funny I remembered the other day I told the story slightly wrong as Jason and Casey had actually left to ride Primeval Whirl and I was alone when this happened. I mention this because as we were leaving the "bar" the CM ran into some of her friends who actually rode PW with Casey and Jason. She seemed mortified about what happened and was telling her friends. Best as I can figure she just saw something that looked good and primeval impulses just took over :P

We have trouble finding entrees we like so the last time we ate at Yak & Yeta we each had our own serving of pot stickersand shared the fried rice. It worked out really well. :)
That sounds like a great idea!!! I've learned my entree lesson and apps all around next time.

You'll have to start asserting your right to have food "all to yourself". I would think Casey would want that, too, although she probably gets better food when she shares it. ;)
I should, but my waist line really doesn't need that :P Casey may want that too but then she may actually start eating like a kid and all my hard work will be down the drain.

Hi lady! Still upset we missed you by a few hours but glad to see you here. Next trip should be launching soonish.

As usual enjoyed your TR and LOVED the tipsy notes.
